A Lab on Fire Almost Transparent Blue

blueThe heat continues on both coasts; a friend of mine flush with frequent-flier miles chose to run away from New York to Alaska for a vacation. Those of os us who are closer to being at sexes and sevens camp out in the Library or the mall.

Dashing into more AC I stopped into ScentBar looking for something light and refreshing. I found it in Almost Transparent Blue by A Lab on Fire.

Opening with really frozen notes of lime and yuzu it quickly adds in a clean soapiness that has something that’s slightly industrial. It’s subtle enough that it’s a winking, performance art sort of effect, like an Andy Warhol soup can. From there it adds in cool woods and a faint note of sparkly aldehydes and finally a cool musk. The yuzu manages to stay in the mix right down to the end which for me was about 4-5 hours.

As for the heat, in my hood it’s been in the 80’s with mid-range humidity so I’m not complaining. I could be in Palmdale. Palm Springs or Pacoima. Or for that matter Passaic. I hope all the US readers are keeping hydrated and cool..

Notes (from luckyscent): Lime, yuzu, thyme flower, aldehyde, hinoki, cedar wood, musk.

$110 for 60ML at luckyscent,  I asked for and received my sample came from ScentBar.

Oooh, that sounds so good! I’mo gonna root up some yuzu, I know I have some here somewhere…

  • Excellent review on the fragrance. The price seem a bit high, but I would love to sample it.
    Thank you.

Just reading your review made me feel a tad cooler. I actually perked up thinking about the intense citrus blast you get when it first goes on. Here in Kansas it’s 99F today.

Oooh! You know I want to be at sexes and sevens (grins). Hell, I just take the ‘sex’es part! LOL! All goofing aside, this does sound refreshing. I like yuzu, tart without being astringent. And this bottle is the epitome of cool!!!

It’s shockin’ brutal over here – worse in other parts of the country, though. I went out to take down the laundry – a short 50′ walk across clover-strewn grass…and it was like walking on the surface of the sun. I’m in Jean Nate. And a Tom Collins.

  • Yes the heat is difficult to handle when it’s that extreme. I live in Australia and it becomes almost unbearable sometimes.
Anyway the perfume looks good. Love the look of the bottle. These days I am really leaning towards products that mostly contain natural ingredients. The ingredients here seem to tick all the boxes 🙂

    Heya tom,
This reads like nothing I would own a bottle of but I really want to try a sample. I’m off to Surrender To Chance right now.
BTW Finished your incredible JAR today, there was a tiny little half drop left in the bottom and I shared it with my favourite SA in Hermes as I bough Rouge (YUMMY)
