First cold of the season

Going from over 100 for weeks to 60 degrees and made me get the sniffles. I stopped on Saturday at ScentBar and picked up a sample of Commes des Garçon Concrete, but the only thing I’ve been smelling over the past few days is Vick’s Vapo-Rub. Which I actually like. That and eating enough hot and sour soup to float the QE2.

So, what’s your cold remedies? Let me know in the comments.

As soon as I feel the hint of a cold coming on, I start intake of Vitamin C and Zinc, via yummy lozenges. Halls makes some tasty VitC drops. The zinc lozenges I usually get are the generic Walgreens brand, honey flavor, and though they’re not yummy, they’re tolerable, and I do think the zinc helps keep viruses at bay. There are other zinc products, like a mouth/throat spray, but that stuff is nasty, I hate it, so I go the lozenge route. Hope you’re feeling better now!

Hot and sour soup plus Vicks, they’re wonderfully soothing when the sniffles strike. Agree that the wild weather swings are not doing us any favors. Would love to hear what you think of Concrete (love that bottle!) when you’re feeling better.

You already said my favorite – hot and sour soup. And tea with lemon and honey for your throat. Tossing a shot of whiskey in the tea isn’t a bad idea either…

  • Love Vicks – don’t think we can get it in France though. Could be wrong of course. Soup and cough lollies. I know I sound like a nana but love a good old fashioned hot water bottle! Good luck getting rid of the lurgy.

Sleep, infrared saunas, detox baths, drinking herbal teas or hot water with lemon non-stop, and walking (it pumps the lymphatic system, which is clearly in need of help if I’ve really come down with something ).
I hope you feel better fast, Tom! Glad you’re enjoying the Vick’s meanwhile.
