Mucky Monday: The dog days keep on barking

dog days sticky heat wave
Hi, dear Posse folks!! The dog days of summer just keep on barking in my neck of the woods; it’s early October and still hitting the low 90s — for crying out loud, Mother Nature, enough is enough!! I grew up in Florida and came farther north to get more seasonal temps, but for the past few years, summer has been lingering way too long and cutting our autumns way too short. But I suppose these irritating dog days are better than a boatload of snow and icy roads, eh?

And speaking of dogs, mine have been talking back to me the last few days. Think it’s about time for some new tennis shoes when the feet and the knees start giving me hints. And on top of that, am feeling a bit under the weather; I think something in a meal we ate out definitely did not agree with me, so my wagon is doubly draggin’.

Which means I have a whole lot of nothing for you guys this week — very sorry.

So feel free to share what you’ve been wearing, eating, drinking, etc., that you enjoy. Or feel free to commiserate if the dog days are lingering way too long in your October as well. Or perhaps you have the opposite problem? Anyhoo, hope everyone has a good week!

I live in AZ and we finally got a great rain and cool night temps. We have a fire outside every mornin for the first time in five months. Good times.

sorry you’re feelin’ poopy, Ann! The heat can’t be helping, either! We had some CHILLY days over the weekend and today it was in the mid-80s! I still have hummingbirds and monarchs in my garden and it’s making me nervous. I want to put up a GoT poster that says ‘Winter is Coming’ – they need to get the hell out of here!

But for all that it’s nice to be able to sit outside for a few more days!

    Hope you feel better, soon!

    xoxoxo

9C and raining here, no heat problems. 🙂

I am SO OVER this weather. It’s hot here as well. It’s due to change later this week but I’m with you on the cryin’ out loud — it’s October 8, it should be nice and cool!

I walk a lot every day (commute to work and during the day). They’re not going to win any awards for looks, but these Hoka One Ones are the most comfortable sneaker I’ve ever worn. Pick a style with the fat cushion bottom like Bondis.

Ugh. Be well. It’s getting cold here, and I’m so torn, because I hate cold weather, but I love cold weather clothes and leather perfumes.

It was 80 degrees in SF yesterday. No fog. No autumn weather predicted until at least November. I am so ready for fall. When I first moved to this area I didn’t have A/C and only really needed it for a heat wave or two. Usually one in June and one again in late September or early October. Now I have A/C and it runs constantly during the summer months.

The unseasonable warmth is slated to end in about 48 hours where I am (Chicago region), so now that I know that I’m enjoying it a little more. Gonna pick some roadside wildflowers and the last of the blooming flowers in my garden for some last free bouquets of the season and try to get in a few long walks sans leggings and jackets before temperatures plummet to 50 and below.

I’ve been getting a few wears of favorite warm weather scents in: Queen of the Night, Jasmin Noir, several bright and cheery orange flower scents. I’m excited for cold weather, since this is the first year I’m going to have any real cold weather in over five years, and the first fall/winter I’ll experience since falling down the perfume rabbit hole! There’s an entire world of cold weather perfumes that I get to explore, which is exciting. The thought of driving in snow and ice is much less exciting, of course…

It’s still hot here in Cleveland and I haven’t been able to bring out the cooler weather scents yet. This heat and humidity is making my stomach do strange things.

  • Queen Cupcake says:

Sorry you are not feeling well, Ann. My sister is in North Carolina and says the same thing about the heat. The temps are on a roller coaster here in New England. I want to plant my garlic bed but must wait until things cool down…if they will. I’m cooking red peppers stuffed with rice and leftover Szechuan takeout. A friend is trying to sell her Yamaha bass flute so I am trying it out this weekend (sounds a full octave below what we think of as the concert flute). It sounds so moody and mellow but that thing is heavy! I will play it in church and wherever a contemplative mood is required…

Wearing Histoire de Parfums 1804 George Sand. Reviews are not universally positive, but I like it. Supposedly very pineapple-y, but on me it is more spice, musk and patch with some fruit. Lately, I have been just grabbing random samples out of the box on my dresser. This has been working for me lately, LOL!

  • Brigitte says:

Unseasonably warm here as well but not stifling hot so I am enjoying the weather. Wearing the heck out of my seventh and newly acquired bottle of Reglisse Noire. I have used up almost half the bottle!

  • MMKinPA says:

Fall is my favorite season so the extended heat is not making me happy. I hate to sweat! Plus I’m having to delay my cooler weather perfumes and that ain’t cool!
