Howdy, all you lovely Posse folks. I just recently realized that Valentine’s Day is upon us later this week. So I’m wondering, what’s a sweet, spicy and/or chocolatey scent that might hit the spot on the big red heart day on Thursday for you guys?
I know some folks don’t celebrate it, and it irritates some people who see it as crass commercialism at its finest, and I understand, to each his own. But my philosophy is that you try to show your loved ones how you feel all year-round, but it’s kind of fun to get a little hearts and flowery for a day.
At our house we don’t do a whole lot on Valentine’s Day, but do exchange cards and give each other a treat or two. I’m giving my DH two of his favorite goodies: pistachios and good flavored coffee. My teen wanted a DVD and is always happy to get those Lindt/Lindor truffles, especially the white chocolate variety.
Anyhoo, when it comes to sweet, indulgent scents, Indult’s Tihota, Jane Booke Taken and Montale Vanilla Absolu really hit the spot for me. Guerlain’s Spiriteuse Double Vanille, Cuir Beluga and Tom Ford Vanille Fatale add a boozy-ish little kick to the sweet tooth, and Le Labo’s Vanille 44 chimes in with incense smoking up its sweetness. Incense also plays nicely with the chocolate, vanilla and black iris goodness of Armani Prive’s La Femme Bleue.
What about you? What scents give you sweet happiness? And if you do celebrate Valentine’s, what are your plans?
Have a great week, everyone!!
Un Bois Vanille would fit the bill perfectly, this is a gourmand i like. If i had some, i could also do Angel Muse, smelling like Nutella with patchouli…
Tom Ford Noir de Noir – gothic, dark rose with chocolate and subtle sweetness from saffron. Perfect for Valentine’s Day. As for me, I love love love Noir de Noir and could wear it 24/7 all year round.
Something delicious from the wonderful Hilde Soliani would fit the bill!
Pacifica Mexican Cocoa pairs chocolate with almond. I also like Dame’s Black Flower Mexican Vanilla. and recently sampled DSH St. Valentine which is sweet and powdery.
Yes to both Pacifica and to Dame…..I adore Dame Black Flower Mexican Vanilla and he makes a wonderful chocolate scent called Chocolate Man
i rather like a gourmand perfume. Bond No 9 I love New York comes to mind. I oversprayed it last week and it became very sickly…lesson learnt.
I haven’t tried La Femme Bleue, but it sounds intriguing! Their Iris Celadon also kind of has an iris/chocolate thing going, too. I don’t really like gourmands, so a perfume has to be doing something weird with chocolate for me to like it, like SL’s Borneo 1834.
I wasn’t a gourmand fan but fell in love with En Voyage’s coffret trio. I also like Chocolovers. I have no plans. No family or sweetheart other than my mom. We may go out for sushi.
