Patty is Almost out of Puppies!

So puppies have been fun. The first four weeks were amazing, Anya was a great mom, I just took care of her, made sure she was fed, which often entailed me speeding her cottage cheese and yogurt from a spoon! Then I had to go to work. 4-week-old puppies to clean up after turned into 6-week-old puppies to clean up after. Now they are 8-week-old puppies, going on 9 weeks.

The amount of poop and how they can manage to drag that poop everywhere is unbelievable! They are cute as can be, they have their forever homes, and the first one goes home on Friday, then the other three follow over the next two weeks.

One is staying with me for now – Pi. I just haven’t found the right thing for him yet, and the right thing could be to stay with me. He’s just the coolest dog – great temperament, already perfectly potty pad trained, plays great with other dogs, but loves being with people. I just feel like I’m supposed to wait on him.

It is time for my life to get back to some kind of sanity. Working a full-time job plus and doing five puppies at the same time as I raise my adult four dogs has been, well, interesting!

Would I do it again? Yeah, I think so. It was pretty magical, and all of the puppies have amazing homes with people who already love them.  So yeah, I might!

In the meantime, I’ve been trying to find my Hermessences – they just seem to have one of everything I’m craving right now! –  and just a squidge of Apres L’Ondee.  I have no idea where I packed them or if I need to get more.  I needs them!  What are you needing for spring?

How precious!! So lovely to see you on here, dear, and great job on the puppies, Mom!! And it won’t be long before you’ll be enjoying that pool! Sounds like life is good! All’s well here, except that I’m still unemployed (not great timing with college looming for my son this August), but have faith that all will work out. Happy Easter!!

  • jen says:

Hmm, this is gross, but our german shepherd female ate (!) the pups poop for the first 3 weeks. She stopped when they got onto dog food rather than her milk. We had to mop up the pee, as we kept them inside til they were 5 weeks.

  • Ariel says:

Patty, can’t seem to directly reply, sorry! I got a sample of Strangelove NYC’s Melt My Heart (EdP) from Luckyscent. I’d warn you it doesn’t last long, but I’ve been sampling like mad this week and my skin seems to be eating everything, so extra-YMMV. I love it so much that I am considering getting the oil- but what with cat surgery, childcare, and moving this year…well, we’ll see. It seems awfully expensive for something that may not last, but it was LOVELY to sample.

  • hczerwiec says:

Pi!!! He is constant, infinite, nonrepeating, and irrational! Completely adorable. I’ve been craving lilac (En Passant) and rhubarb (Aedes de Venustas signature) and green chypres.

    • Patty says:

Isn’t he just? He is all of those things, and either I’m waiting for the right person or I’m the right person! En Passant, I need to figure out if I have some packed away or need to get some, that sounds perfect!

  • Matty says:

    What adorable puppies XXX

    • Patty says:

Oh, thanks. Puppies are adorable and fun and OMG, I need to have less of them as they go to their forever homes! 🙂

  • Dina C. says:

I can relate to the puppy mayhem. We adopted our first dog, a puppy, and he’s turned our house upside down. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes not. For spring scents, I’m all about the green florals.

  • MMKinPA says:

We just arrived in Clearwater Beach last night so I’m wearing my Bronze Goddess. But – OMG I WANT THAT PUPPY even though I don’t want any puppy, as my old dog requires enough care ?

    • Patty says:

I know. They really all are as cute as cute can be. If I had unlimited money, patience and space and a full-time dog helper, I’d just keep them all! Bronze Goddess sounds perfect. I fill the pool on May 1, so I need to find some of that too!

  • March says:

They are soooooo cute! And the “Hermanessences” lol — I hope you find them!

    • Patty says:

They are in there somewhere, I just know it. If not, I’ll just order one of those little 4 or 8packs of the 15 ml thingies with my faves. I Has to have Osmanthe Yunnan for summer. It’s not summer without it. And i love the muguet one for this time of year too!

  • Musette says:

LOL! SO glad you got through the pups, safely and with your sanity intact. Eloise had 10 little Rottweiler menaces – and it was BRUTAL. Those claws! Those little razor teeth! But adorable, for all that.

I’m wearing Xerjoff Irisss today, which I wouldn’t have if not for you – you are responsible for intro’ing me to the beauties of rootier iris, and I thank you!

    xoxoxo

    • Patty says:

Sanity intact is questionable. I feel like I still have poop under my fingernails! I don’t, but it feels like there is just poop everywhere. Oh, Irisssss. Dang, I wonder if I have some of that too? If not, I need to get some of that as well. I know my little bit of Iris Silver Mist spilled out of the little bell jar. so that’s blech, need more of that. And I can’t find my de Profundis, which I also need.

  • Ingeborg says:

I hope to find a heavily perfumed body oil for spring and summer, nothing too tropical or with rose as the main player.

As for perfume, Week-End by de Nicolaï fits the sunny, cool spring weather. I’m wondering if the newer version Week-end in Normandy is more like the original Week-End à Deauville? Has anyone tried both and care to comment?

The puppies sound adorable, but a lot of hard work!

    • Patty says:

Week-End a Deauville, violet I assume? I have not run into it, but it sounds well worth finding, I love both of those!

  • Brigitte says:

    How adorable!!! 🙂
Been craving greens (Eau de Lierre) soft powders (Noa) citrus (Paramela) fresh florals (Tracy Reese) and “sweet lavender lollies” to quote Portia (Pour un Homme) so that has been in my full bottle line up lately.

    • Patty says:

Lavender, I wish I loved it more. I love it in the garden, so I think I’ll just load it up out there and enjoy it. I have this amazing tree in my front yard that the birds love, but I don’t knwo what it is. I’m going to post a picture of it to see if someone can tell me. I feel like I *should* know, but can’t quite come up with it. Gorgeous blossoms and smells and great berries in the fall/winter for all the birdies that come by.

  • Sarah says:

Those dogs! Good job Mom-it’s so much work. Hope you had time to just soak in the joy of them. Love those pups of yours. For me pups beat perfume every time.

    • Patty says:

I spent way too much time soaking in their joy. Hugging up a little puppy to your neck is one of the most therapeautic things in the world. The whole process has been lovely, honestly. Even the hard parts and when they cry for me or for their breakfast. As they head off one by one, it will get quieter, and that will be a little sad. Except they have happy lives ahead of them in homes where they are onlies or have just one other brother or sister to play with, and that’s the right thing for them. The best thing.

  • Marie Cuozzo says:

OMG – Pi looks wise beyond his years (days)! Definitely a keeper! I’ve been wearing Mon Guerlain, a bottle my son brought me from Paris last year. Only bottle in my collection that came directly from Paris, so in light of the Notre Dame tragedy, it is calling me.

    • Patty says:

He is an old soul dog for sure. He was on my lap today, and he just jumped down in the middle of all the big dogs checking them out. They don’t even scare him or alarm him, just some dogs he needs to know! Mon Guerlain sounds lovely. I think I need to find my little bits of ne m’Oubliez Pas in my bottle, that feels right too.

  • Ariel says:

Spring is cold and rainy here in the PNW, and I am loving Strangelove NYC’s Melt My Heart. It’s chocolate-ish out of the gate (a comfort smell), and changes minute by minute. Helps keep me awake while I await the sun’s return.

  • Lynne Marie says:

Angelique Noire and No. 19 Poudre are on constant rotation right now. It’s still cold and sometimes snowy here in New England so the true spring scents aren’t quite right yet. The puppies are adorable!!!

  • Kathleen says:

Puppies! Pi is gorgeous and adorable and no doubt you’re contemplating keeping him.
I can’t imagine how busy you’ve been but understand the magic and bliss. How rewarding to see the beautiful babies go to loving homes and all the happiness they’ll bring. I’m forever grateful to the breeders who entrusted me to provide love and home for our pups.
I’m thinking of one of the Madison Diors for my gift to self May birthday. I’ll need to read about the Hermessences.

    • Patty says:

I try to not think about keeping him. I do not need five dogs! But I think i’m going to have five dogs.

What kind of dogs do you have? Which Madison Dior? Do you mean the La Collection ones?

  • HollyF says:

I’ve been craving green scents, searching out delicate oakmossy chypres has been my obsession.

    • Patty says:

I ran across the old Gobin Daudes the other day, I have tiny amounts, and the one that is the sap one is really perfect for spring. I wish I had more of it, and I wish there would one day be more. They were unsual and unique and really were great for spring.
