Happy Monday, everyone, and if you’re in the U.S., wishing you a happy Memorial Day! Take a moment today, if you will, to remember service members around the world, past and present. In America, Memorial Day is heralded as the traditional kick-off to summer, even if the calendar says otherwise, so for some of us, it’s into summer we go!
Since it’s a holiday here and many folks are in and out, traveling, etc., especially with all the high school and college graduations, let’s keep this short. But first of all, a huge shout-out to my graduate — honey, we are so proud of you!! As some of you may remember from my long-ago posts, he barely survived a near-drowning back in 2010, so it’s so wonderful (a miracle, really!) to see him graduating high school with honors. He’s looking forward to a future doing something with Spanish, perhaps teaching.
What are your plans for today, and what fragrance will you be wearing? What are your favorite summer holiday / cookout scents, whether out to Aunt Betty’s backyard barbecue, to that picnic in the park, to a friend’s pool party? Or what do you waft while relaxing around the firepit or fireplace, for those of you who may be a little chilly in the Southern Hemisphere?
I’ll be in and out of town, maybe trying to get in a little beach time here and there and also visit my precious mother-in-law. And firming up some summer job options for my new graduate. Gotta make a little money before the onslaught of college costs, right?
It’s shaping up to be mighty hot around these parts, so I’ll be pulling out some chill favorites, cool and relaxing staples such as Guerlain’s Cologne du Parfumeur, Frederic Malle’s Eau de Magnolia or Chanel’s Eau de Cologne. And a spritz of Carnal Flower, for a nice evening out.
Wherever you may be or whatever you’re doing this Memorial Day weekend, enjoy yourselves, lovely Posse folks!
Great scent choices! And thank you all for your kind words!
Also, I have a Malle Magnolia spritzer in my desk at work — very cheering!
Congratulations! I’m wearing a face mask and Chanel Cristalle Verte.
Congratulations to your graduate! Enjoy your holiday weekend smelling lovely!
I am going to the gym to do the “Murph” challenge workout to honor the fallen. A beautiful morning walk in nature with my pup listening to the birds, and grilling later in the day. I am wearing Boucheron now, and will wear Azuree for my walk and workout.
I remember that terrifying time with your son, congratulations to him and to you, Ann dear. It’s our anniversary weekend and we’ve been spending it doing some necessary things around the house and yard while dodging rain showers. I’m greeting summer with Un Jardin Sur le Nil with Coco in the evenings, of course.
Congrats to your son!!!
And good luck with the college costs!
Congratulations to the graduate – and to you! I remember those terrifying days – and I think of the strength Kai gave you as you mustered through that – I think of that always, Ann, with gratitude (for his safe deliverance) every time I see that scent. So happy to see him thriving!
Have a wonderful holiday. Mine has been spent hauling dirt for my new raised beds and driving to the swollen Mississippi (we’re not far from there and are always over there, doing something) – it has a rich, vegetal, marine smell right now that is perfect for the segue into Summer.

Thank you!!
Thanks so much!!
Well done graduate. X
Congratulations to your graduate!
