Howdy, dear Posse folks! Hope everyone out there is enjoying September so far. Alas, in my part of the U.S., the month is turning out to be hotter than blazes — easily hot enough to fry an egg on the pavement! Temps are much warmer than July or August were this year, flirting frightfully close to those dreaded triple digits. Am praying the ancient A/C units at my house will hold on just a little longer (like mid-to-late October).
Anyhoo, last week, I thought about getting some 4711 cologne and putting it in the fridge for a cooling splash-down. Turns out the store where I’m working carries it, so I thought “Hey, I’ll get a bottle,” and it’ll be especially affordable with my employee discount. Ah, the best laid plans!
So I was getting ready to snag one and take it up to the register to pay for it during my break, but I got tied up with a customer. Well, wouldn’t you know it, but 15 minutes later, a guy walks in and asks my co-worker and I to show him where our fragrances were.
He looked around for a bit, then spied the remaining two bottles of 4711 we had, grabbed them both and then joyfully grabbed both of us, impulsively hugging us. “I just love this stuff!” he gushed. “And I’ve been to every store around here trying to find it! You guys are the best!” He was so happy to have found it, his joy so contagious, that I really couldn’t feel too bummed that he’d gotten the last bottles. I guess he needed them far more than I did, right?
So to get my chill-out fragrance effect, I ended up putting my decants of Chanel Eau de Cologne and Guerlain’s Cologne du Parfumeur in the fridge, and that’s working out pretty well.
What about you? What do you put in the fridge for a cooling spritz when it is hotter than blazes outside?
I love Guerlain’s Pamplelune when it’s blazing hot — so refreshing!
I normally wear Courtesan or no 19 when it’s really hot out. I am still kicking myself for not snapping up a bottle of Les Annees 25 when I had the chance.
Hi! I just peeked and you can get samples/decants of it at Surrender to Chance. It sounds lovely!
Hey Ann,
Embarrassingly my in the fridge cool down spritz is Paris Hilton Fairy Dust. A white floral that punches well above its price range and is perfect for that summer refresher. Also, because it’s cheap as chips I’m happy to spritz it a lot.
Portia xx
Jean Nate! I have a huge bottle but it’s only been really hot for maybe a week this summer, boo.
I work in a warehouse with no AC! I spray Bath & Body Works mists. I start out wearing perfume and then spray those. The alcohol cools me down and helps with the sweat !
It is wonderfully cool here in Montréal, so not spritzing out of the fridge any more, but I keep FM Cologne Indélebile and Dior Eau Fraîche in there.
