Anniversary Monday: The scents of celebration

Happy anniversary!! I can’t believe my DH and I are celebrating 31 years of marriage this week. Where have the years gone? I know many of you out there would agree that time is rushing by way too fast!

My new retail career has me working all kinds of crazy hours and days, so not sure when we’ll get an anniversary dinner, but sometime this week or next.

I’m thinking that this week for celebration scents, I’ll pull out some Clive Christian C, Carnal Flower and maybe a spritz of Clinique’s Wrappings as it feels fizzy, happy and celebratory to me. I’m just so happy that I can wear fragrance in my new job!

I wish I could remember what scent I wore on my wedding day though. Although I dearly loved fragrance then, I wasn’t anywhere near the perfume hound that I am now. I might have worn Diorissimo, but more likely it was Chanel’s Cristalle or Estee Lauder’s Private Collection. Its green sophistication always made me feel special. And Ysatis’ Givenchy likely got a wearing for the rehearsal dinner.

I haven’t been to a wedding in a while and none of the recent brides I know are very much into perfume (several went scentless). So does anyone know what are the most popular bridal scents these days? I can see a modern bride wearing SL’s Fleurs de Citronnier, L’Artisan’s Seville L’Aube, Byredo Tulipe, one of the newer Chanels, or even the original Puredistance scent.

What about you? If you are married, what did you wear for your big day? And what do you enjoy wearing to a special celebration now (wedding, birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc.)?

Happy anniversary, Ann. I hope you’ll soon find time to celebrate because life is too short not to celebrate 🙂 I like that you mention Clive Christian C. It’s such a beautiful classy perfume.
I have been married and if it had lasted, we’d be close to 30 years too. I remember wearing Wrappings by Clinique for my wedding and I’d happily wear it again because it remained my dearest perfume of all. Not because of the first wedding 😀

Happy Anniversary to you and your DH Ann! My DH and I had a winter wedding in Jan 1991, and I think I wore Arpege. This was before my perfume hobby began which is why I’m uncertain. Nowadays, there are so many beautiful ones to choose from. Chanel 1932 parfum comes to mind.

CO granulation Ann and your DH! 31 years something to be very proud of!
i recently celebrated 20 year anniversary. I wore the original Tiffany EDP on my wedding day in 1999! I wish I had kept that bottle.

AMAZING! 31 years Ann, that is spectacular. Congratulations.

Jin and I got married last year, as you know. With no conversation and on opposite sides of Sydney we both wore Neela Vermeire Creations. Jin wore Bombay Bling and I wore Rahele. They were perfect accompaniment to our big day.

Congrats! We were 31 this past Aug. too. I wore Coco, though I don’t wear it anymore. We are rare indeed!

  • Gina T says:

I’ve never been married but I always thought Jessica McClintock was a lovely floral classic.

  • Taxi says:

Ann, what a beautiful bride you were!  You had a handsome groom, too.  This is a great photo.
I don’t remember what I wore for my 1971 wedding – maybe nothing? My deep dive into fragrance came a few years later but if I wore anything, it probably would have been Diorissimo, Casaque, Private Collection, Caswell Massey Red Jasmine or Replique.  I was also a heavy Jean Nate splasher in those days.

  • Maggiecat says:

My DH and I found each other later in life, and will celebrate our 10th next month. I wore Diorissimo.  Any of the new Eaux sex Chane l would be lively at a wedding for either guests or brides – Riviera has a cheerful enroll /orange blossom that would be especially apropos.
    Congratulations, Ann!

  • Filomena says:

Congratulations!  You are one of the lucky ones and I wish you many more happy and healthy years together!  I have been married twice and even though both marriages were fairly long (perhaps too long) I have been divorced twice.  However, I still remember what I wore on both wedding days.  At my first wedding, I wore the original Givenchy L’Interdit and at my second wedding I wore Azzaro Cerutti 1881.

  • Luanne says:

I wore Houbigant Chantilly because my gown was trimmed with Chantilly lace.

Congratulations Ann!  I was married nearly 20 years and wore Poison on my wedding day, lol!  Ah well, what could be expected?  Hope you both have many more : )
