Almost at an end of 2020, and I don’t think I’ve ever been so elated to wave goodbye to a year.
It hasn’t been all bad, but it seems like there was so much bad, I can’t remember as much of the good as I should.
My mom is here visiting with me until after New Year’s, and I’m really grateful that she is here, and she beat COVID in October. She looks great, getting stronger every day, got a lot of good rest while here, which she needed after being sick and then moving. And that is the really good thing from this year.
Really wanted to do some year-end recap, but the sale in the store and mom visit is saying… nope! We’ll try that in 2021.
How are you seeing this Godforsaken year out? We are expecting snow, and it is scheduled to start about 11p New Year’s Eve. I hope to wake up to 2021 that is covered with snow, a fresh start. We’ll build a cozy fire New Year’s Eve and probably fall asleep by 8p and let 2020 ooze out while we sleep.
I want to wish all of you a healthy, peaceful and prosperous 2021, and may you find all the perfumes you love and be able to buy them all!
I have been reading the Penny Louise mystery “All the Devils are Here” and have to share a howler of a perfume-based clue: suspects are identified, because they are wearing an “extremely rare” perfume bought in Cologne – 4711!! Hee hee hee
Happy new year! Patty, I am so glad that your mom is recovering and that you get to see her! Also, post more dog pictures, if you don’t mind me asking.
This year both blew plans for my future out of the water and made me take a hard look at what is important and how fortunate I am. That sounds trite but it’s really true.
Good wishes to everyone here and your kin for 2021!
This year was TRASH and I’m not even in a position to complain much about it, I’m employed etc. Looking forward to 2021. Tonight I’ll have my private tradition of burning some holiday wreath greens in the fireplace, and sending some regrets and wishes for the new year up with it.
Don’t plan on doing much for New Year’s eve or day. Watch the ball drop, sleep in and have a standing rib roast on New Year’s Day. Have a happy New Year.
Movies!!!
Animated (nothing heavy):
Soul
Lilo & Stitch
The Triplets of Belleville
Frozen
Non-animated:
There Will Be Blood (Heavy, gorgeous)
Fargo (gory, dark humor)
Harold & Maude (dark humor, but not that heavy)
Swiss Army Man (gross, hilarious, weird, unique)
Wine Country (funny AF)
The Secret of Roan Inish (fairy-tale, ethereal)
I’ll be burning a list of everything that made me mad in 2020 for cathartic purposes. Maybe. I still don’t like the smell of smoke after the wildfires we endured here in Oregon. But I’ll be wearing Reve D’Ossian or Baikal Gris while I do it 🙂
I’m glad that you and your mom are together. Don’t forget to make a new years’s wish. Resolutions are sooooo yesterday, right? lol
I doubt I’ll stay up until midnight. We have some eggnog and bubbly and good food, and the hound will be at his beloved dog daycare for the night (my neighborhood loves fireworks, and it’s a lot quieter over by his daycare) so I’ll actually get to sleep in on New Year’s Day. I’ve been revisiting Parfum Sacre recently so that will probably be my scent of the night. Wishing everyone a quiet, healthy, and peaceful new year.
Very glad to hear that your mom is recovering and regaining her strength. Lovely that you can spend time together! Our NYE tradition is to stay home and watch movies together, so that’s exactly what we’ll do. No change. Anyone have a good movie recommendation? Wishing all of you a new year filled with good health, safety, happiness and satisfying accomplishments.
If you haven’t watched Moonstruck would suggest that. It’s so life affirming.
OMG! I LOVE ‘Moonstruck’!!!
‘snap out of it!!!’
xoxoxo
Love Moonstruck and rewatched it just this year! A great recommendation!
Patty – I am so glad that Miss N is recovering so well and that she has you and the rest of your family to care for her.
NYE here will, I hope, be as quiet and peaceful as the rest of the Winter hollerdays have been – just me and TGirl, chillin’ with a nice dinner (or not – oh, the luxury of no expectations!) . Wishing all of us a marvelous and peaceful 2021, full of ‘uninteresting times’ xoxoxo
Best wishes to your mother. Have a lovely visit and hope the snow is beautiful.
Thanks Patty,
We’ll be having a quiet night in front of the TV with a couple of our closest friends. It was going to be just us but this will be good too.
Portia xx
Happy New Year! Hoping 2021 will be brighter for all of us!
Our New Year’s Eve will be same as always, nice dinner and early to bed.I’ll wear a cozy vintage perfume, haven’t decided which one yet.
Happy New Year! I’m glad you can be with your mom, and that she is doing well!
We’re all sick here so we’re not gonna do anything other than stay up late and eat snacks. The only silver lining has been lowering expectations. 2020 hasn’t been all bad, on a strictly practical level it’s been hard not knowing what to expect and not being able to plan anything – here’s to better things in 2021!
Hoping everyone has a better 2021.
I plan to burn some incense and go to bed, hoping 2021 will finish up better than 2020. This year was a real shocker, I hope never to live through another pandemic. But the key word being live – I and my family are still alive, that’s the important part. It could be a lot worse. Wishing you and all the posse a happy and healthy new year.
Happy New Year Patty! I will be so glad to say goodbye to 2020. I probably won’t do much of anything as this year there isn’t much to do except watch TV.
As I did for Thanksgiving & Christmas, I’ll isolate with some yummy food. Filet mignon & a lovely cab? Smoked salmon or caviar toasts & champagne? Maybe cracked crab with good sourdough bread & champagne? Cooking for one lets me splurge!
If 2020 were a fish, I’d have thrown it back.
Happy New Year, Patty! No plans here. Maybe spend it with my mother. Depends. Hope everyone in this community is blessed with healthy, bounty, peace and joy in the coming year. We deserve it.
Joy to your family, your Mom, your sweet pups and you this New Year.
