I was going to write about a really strange earworm I had for the first half of last week and tie that into other music and perfume but it didn’t happen (earworm was Uptown Funk – the best line in this is “Got Chucks on with St Laurent, Gotta Kiss Myself I’m So Pretty”). Just sort of got lost in everything else that happened later in the week.
So, apologies, but I’ve just got random thoughts today.
Took my son to the train this afternoon for his return to university after three months at home. So, it’s me and the dog in the house now again. I can’t ‘bubble’ with anyone else as I have health issues. Hoping for first vaccine jab by mid-March. It won’t change much for me but I want it to happen nonetheless. Vacuumed, got laundry going – trying to gear myself up for Monday and Tuesday with the clients I don’t like.
So, it’s going to be work, dog walks, Zoom yoga (maybe adding in Pilates once a week – and my yoga teacher has added in Nidra sessions every other week – I’ve never been a great sleeper – hoping these will help), visits to farm shop and bakery. Almost everything else will come into my life via delivery.
However, my DIY guy is visiting Tuesday (window open, everyone masked up) to look at laying down a path in the garden and sorting my front gate which has scraped for the whole time I’ve lived in this house. I have a load of plants coming end-February to end-March so I need the path sorted fairly soon and I’ve come to conclusion, after digging out the stepping stones, that I just don’t have the oomph for doing a path properly. So, he can do it. I’m obsessing a bit about buying a small Philadelphus for the pot as I love the fragrance (why has no perfume house tried to do a really proper mock orange fragrance? Or have I missed something?), but as I already have a dwarf fig coming in May I thinking this might be overdoing things. It’s not a huge garden.
I received the small bottle of Le Labo Ylang 49 I ordered (had a panic after I’d ordered that it would come from the EU and I’ll have to pay duty; it came from London, so all good). This smells of summer evenings to me. I need to have that in my life right now.
I’m still working my way through the Wesley Peterson police procedurals but will pause them end of this week to pick up the next Ruth Galloway book and then I’ve got the next James Oswald Inspector McLean to look forward to. I’m in the middle of series 4 of Spiral. I feel like any things that pull me out of my head and keep me from contemplating our grey, damp weather are helpful.
Finally, it’s also Groundhog Day Tuesday. Fingers crossed he or she sees an early spring for us (and a hot summer).
Sorries again. I promise next Monday’s post will have a focus. Oh, and can anyone tell me when Gardeners’ World starts up again? I haven’t been able to find that information.
