Just a little

Off on small holiday, an hour west of where I live, on the Atlantic coast. A cottage, coastal walks, seafood, the newest John Connolly book.

The dog is holidaying too. He turned 12 recently but is still sprightly – and allowed in all the restaurants. And he gets to pick out his birthday gift at a local chi chi pet shop.

Good walking weather. Good weather for a proper Afternoon Tea. Good weather for beaches but not swimming.

Salcombe is mega holiday land during school breaks and the summer but is pleasant off-season.

Just to be a bit on topic, I tried another of alityke’s samples: Lutens Sarrasins. From 2007. It’s the purple juice, so I can’t imagine spraying this with anything approaching abandon. Jasmine, carnation, musk. It’s a really pretty, candied floral up top. Powdery. Truth be told the candied aspect weirds me out a bit. Reminds me of candied violets, which I’m not partial to. I’m curious if anyone out there wears this on repeat.

Anyway, onward through spring. I hope your weather is pleasant and it invites you outdoors. If you have a garden I hope it is behaving well and producing joy.

I was fortunate to find a slightly used bell jar of Sarrasins on E-bay a few years ago after wanting it for so long. I love the slutty jasmine combined with leather. I do wish that it was part of the export line so I can pull it out and wear it more. I am hoping that I can go to California to visit my sister later on this year.

I hope you and the dog are having a good time and enjoying yourselves. It does sound like you should be.
I don’t think I’ve ever tried SL Sarrasins. I like the 3 main notes, especially carnation which doesn’t seem to be used like it was in many vintage perfumes. If I see it in my perfume wanderings, I’ll give it a try.

I remember Sarrasins! I had a decant … same deal. The alarming purple made application a bit of a risk, although I have no idea whether it’d actually stain … did not want to find out. That sounds like a LOVELY holiday, I am envious! I miss water. It’s always on the “list to consider” when thinking about a vacation (i.e., somewhere coastal.)

Enjoy your holiday, Cinnamon. It sounds beautiful. I’m looking forward to coastal walks next month. I’ve never tried Sarrasins, but I love jasmine so I should.

Hey Cinnamon, how fab to be taking a break by the seaside. Why can’t you swim there?

LOVE Sarrasins. If only it came in a spritzy export bottle.

As we head to Autumn I’m enjoying wearing track pants and long sleeved tops around the house. There have even been a couple of woolly pullover days. Currently we are having intermittent downpours that happen without warning and disappear the same way. Lovely from inside, a bit crap with two dogs in the great outdoors.

Jin has decided we are going an hour west to the Blue Mountains for his birthday. Just us, for two nights. It’s not till mid June but he’s already got most of the planning done. It will be very nice. Sadly, he doesn’t enjoy being celebrated and the center of attention for his birthday. Gladly I get him all to myself in a very nice hotel, the Fairmont. We might even get snow!
