Wore out my clubbing, partying & even pubbing on NYE 1987. Being 6 months pregnant tends to clip your wings & they never really grew back fully.
We’ve eaten fridge forage pasta & I made a trifle but we’re too full to eat any.
Mr Jarvis is currently hiding from the fireworks. They’ll be going off for around 6 hours & it’s only 8pm here! Why???
Not scented other than a touch of 4711 solid on my temples for an incipient headache I’ve had since seeing DH’s oncologist.
Oh, sweetie! I hope (pray) it’s just regular stress related to seeing the oncologist!

I think I stopped NYE at about that time.
I’m being an awful curmudgeon but I hope the rain puts the kibosh on those fools with their fireworks.
And I hope your new years is headache free, in all ways.

I am generally sound asleep by 10 p.m. on NYE, with ear plugs, as fireworks are popular here. Fake frivolity isn’t my thing, never has been, so this is just another night to me.
3 rituals I have done for decades:
Put a few dried black eyed peas in a pocket and in my purse to insure $$$ in the new year. A lot of folx incorporate them into a January 1 meal instead.
Do not do anything on N.Y. Day I don’t want to be doing the rest of the year; so no bill paying, floor scrubbing, arguing with anyone…anything tedious, odious, dangerous, unpleasant.
Wear a brand new item. Could be socks, a scarf, earrings.

I’d prefer “nobody arguing with me” but the only way that happens is not to talk to anyone.

Nope, haven’t gone out on New Year’s Eve in decades! I’ll probably be asleep at midnight. We’re doing some baking tomorrow. Happy New Year to you, your plans sound perfect tbh.
I just got back from getting the car smogged and a last minute TJ run. The rain is here and I am done with 2025!
I never have liked NYE with all the relentless “you must have fun” energy. So we will do what we always do, cook, eat and while the husband watches nonstop football, I will be watching nonstop Turner Classics. They’re showing all the Thin Man movies back to back tomorrow and I have a lineup for tonight too.
Oh I love those movies!
It’s not just the “must have fun or die” it’s also paying a fortune to get into a place you normally wouldn’t be caught dead in.
We stay home and watch movies too. I’ve never seen The Poseiden Adventure — maybe we’ll watch that one. Happy, healthy, and beautifully scented New Year to everyone!?

It’s freezing here. Like, really really really cold for the area. Truly beautiful out, with frost everywhere, a bit of mist earlier. Sun’s out now. We’ll be having Indian food later with a fire made in the wood stove. I plan to pick up the food while the temp is still above freezing.
As to later, the marine camp up the hill will do fireworks at midnight, although I’m hoping they will be much truncated because it’s going to be below zero, and will have been for hours. In any case, will tuck the dog up in a corner with ear covers and a blanket and hope for the best.

I don’t do New Year’s Eve either. I do like to stay up and watch the ball drop. Movies and munchies sound good.
PS. Buy a lottery ticket – “pi$$ing rain” sounds very $$ lucky $$ to me!

I’m battling a bit of anxiety ( probably recovering after surgery)… I am assuaging it by a lot of ( MD approved) time on my Old Lady elliptical! The ROI is way better than eating cookies! And enough body cream to fell a rhino ( who, come to think about it, could probably use some body cream!)

I used to have an elliptical at work and I fell in love with it. Somehow treadmill or bike don’t do it. I’m lobbying for one when they redo the gym.
