On the 10th Day of Violets….
We had the whole office swooning over L’Artisan’s Verte Violette.
Verte Violette goes on green, with a slightly sweet smell, but not very much of one, like an outdoors sweet, not a candy sweet. Notes are violet leaves, raspberry leaves, rose, heliotrope, cedar, iris and white musk. I haven’t seen a lot of great reviews of this one, mostly just midde ground, but for what it does, it does it well. It’s a nice, light green violet scent. It’s not as complicated as the notes imply, though you can pick them out. It lasted nicely on me, from 8a to 2p with some blow-off, but I could still definitely smell it, just lighter.
The nicest thing about this fragrance came later at work. I went a little overboard in my spritzing because I had read somewhere it didn’t have much lasting power. At first I was a little concerned about overdosage because the lady in front of me at the post office kept sneezing and rubbing her nose. Oh, no, did I do too much? But for pete’s sake, it’s green violet, not Poison, Giorgio or Youth Dew, this can’t be that annoying!
Later at the office, nobody complained about the sillage I left in my wake, but co-workers, as I would stand right next to them, thought it was a great smell, fresh and lovely.
This is definitely a wonderful summer and spring scent, when you don’t want a heavy scent and you want to smell like the best of the outdoors. If you want a darker, smokier violet, one that is more complicated, this won’t work for you at all.
Available at Beauty Cafe and Luscious Cargo
Apres L’Ondee is up for today. I have a feeling I’m going to get beaten up, though, because so far, even the parfum is just disappearing off of me in 30 minutes, so I’m getting nothing!
I’m moving to spritz mode and see if that helps.
It is a lovely light scent. Not anything that would leave a great imprint in the memory, but very nice for what it is. I completely agree with your thoughts. While I like it, it is not my favourite violet. I prefer either Violette Precieuse or Bois de Violette. Of course, who can resist Apres L’Ondee? Not me! 🙂
I love this one too. What was I thinking when I got rid of it?
Did not care for this one :crying:
I do want a darker, smokier violet
Like Violette Precieuse…*sigh*
Oh, P, it sounds so perfect!! They don’t carry it here, and the reviews I’ve read were pretty underwhelming. (But what do those people know, they think linden smells bad) Guess this will have to go on my to-do list…
