Something New and Something New!

What do you think????? Isn’t it adorable?  If you don’t think it is adorable, just lie to me. I positioned the Let Us Spray over on the right  the artist moved it for me and gave a smaller image that will load faster.  Better?  Okay, so now I just need to get my taxes done, then I can concentrate on calling around and getting quotes for mugs and sticky notes and notepads. BTW, the artist who did the artwork is Shano Studio, and she has some great artwork fitting many occasions.  I love her work and love what she did with this image.

UPDATE:  Andy is offering a limited number of samples on his website, go, get one!!!

Just got the a sample of Andy Tauer’s’s newest scent, due to be released April 21 in the usual places, Reverie au Jardin. Notes of galbanum, fir, lavender, bulgarian rose, frankincense, abelmoschus seeds, vetiver and tonka beans.  It starts very green, the fir kind of blasts out with some lavender trilling through it, which scared me… a lot… and then it just hangs there like your breath on a crisp winter morning, and I got more scared, but I shouldn’t have.  Then it starts to thaw  and warm.  I’m always nervous about lavender in a perfume, we don’t get along that well, it just makes me a little oogie, but this one is gorgeous, in the way that Encens et Lavande is gorgeous — there is enough depth with the other notes that the lavender note plays, but it blends into the whole beautifully.  Abelmoschus seeds are ambrette seed, and in the drydown, this has a slightly musky feel, almost licoricey? but not? that’s pretty enchanting.  I kept thinking it reminded me of something, and then I finally sniffed it alongside the old Guerlain Fol Arome, and they’re not the same, but something about each reminds me of the other.  Beautifully done, Andy.

^^^^^^^  That Andy, he always gets the hottest pictures for his bottles.

  • faizanjax says:

    Lavender..mm..i love that note.

The two best lavender fragrances for me are Acqua Di Parma Lavanda Tonica and Creed Royal Scottish Lavender (pure blissful lavender).

  • Judith says:

Love the picture! But I was so busy today, I missed everything, including the samples from Andy. Doesn’t really matter–I’m ready to buy this unsniffed (the only one of his that didn’t work wonderfully on me was Maroc). But I’m curious–I loved the first mod; how would you compare this to that?

    • Patty says:

Oh, no!!! I can send you the rest of my sample. It was a really generous one.

As far as comparison to the first mod, less incense, more ambrette in the drydown. The incense is there in the early stages and middle, but then blends in more. The first mod I remember as being much more incensey than this one is. Both are beautiful.

  • tmp00 says:

BTW- I forgot who mentioned the scented soap to scent your car but: ^:)^

I had a small lemon verbena soap from a N-M giveaway. It now lives in my ashtray and my car smells fantastic!

  • tmp00 says:

That’s the joy of a private office and mastering the hasty ALT/TAB. man card intact. Besides, the wussieboys in my office are afraid of me. :d

  • Dusan says:

P, I don’t know bout Lee and Tommyboy here, but I don’t look too good in gowns. Not meaning to gripe, but how about adding a few touch-ups to the otherwise great logo, say, a few chest hairs for the gents of the Posse? :-))
Oh and, did you like anything (‘cept Egoiste) from the pkg?
    Hugs

    • tmp00 says:

well, that green is almost the color of my eyes and the hair isn’t too far off. I am however not that thin. :((

      • Dusan says:

T, I guess I could manage to squeeze into that gown (not that I would, *hello!* blue eyes and green get-up – noooo), but all the wrong parts would be sticking out, and I don’t mean those below the belt 8-|

    • Patty says:

Chest hairs? Well… maybe, but only if you promise to all cross your legs.

  • Maria B. says:

Patty, thank you for telling us about the Tauer samples!!!!!!!!

I’m so glad I reread your post. I should always do that. 🙂

  • tmp00 says:

that was a reply to March and Lee and the belt comment. this nesting thing hate me…

  • Victoria says:

Oh, looks great! I love it!

  • tmp00 says:

Cold showers for both of you![-x

    :*

  • tmp00 says:

    Patty-

    The design is super-cute!

Like Lee, I cannot see the Andy picture without left-clicking on it and saving it to my desktop. Unlike him, this occurs with my work PC, my Mac at home is fine. Wierd.

    • Patty says:

Thanks, Tom! I wish I could understand what causes that, but it does seem to be something maybe about a firewall? My DH said that pictures are like the most open formats, so a lot of work firewalls won’t let them in unless they are done some special way? I dunno.

    • March says:

Dude … you’re looking at this at work?!?!?;)

Aren’t you afraid someone’s gonna come and, you know, take away your Man Card?:-“

  • violetnoir says:

Ooh, she is delightful, isn’t she? I love the green gown. Now I want a green gown!

    Hugs!

  • Marie-Helene says:

Yes, it looks better. It’s a great idea to have introduced the break after Let Us Spray…., it goes better with the expression on the woman’s face and the blog.

  • Lavanya says:

This IS soooooo cute..:)..and I like the writing better on the left like this…(I am wondering if the writing should be a teeny weeny bit smaller?…or maybe not..)

    • Patty says:

it will actually change some more since the notepads will have the writing at the top and the picture at the bottom, for balance. But the coffee mug may be closer to this, or I may put it at the top.

  • Sharon says:

Patty the design looks amazing! I can’t wait until you get it set up so we can start buying!!

    • Patty says:

I’m glad you like it! I’ve been squeeing about it for a week, so I was happy to share it with y’all and make sure I was correct in my squeeing. 🙂

  • Dusan says:

Lee, have yot tried Fleur du Mâle yet? I’m curious to hear your impressions…

    • Lee says:

No I haven’t. You know, I’ve not been near a shop for weeks. Imagine me, if you will, a la The Aviator. I must go try it, and Gucci pour Homme lite ™.

      • Dusan says:

Get your lazy ass out of the sofa then and get thee a-sniffing! The world awaits your wise words on these two ^:)^
Me, I can’t wait to try Gucci II Liter, too.

  • Dusan says:

March, I think Andy said that the guy in the picture is none other than Andy himself. ‘Course, he may have said it tongue-in-cheek…
If the new AT is anything like EeL, I’m going to love it!

  • Marina says:

Love the image! Love it. But, um…can we make her blond? :d:d I’d love a blond one :”>

    • Patty says:

blonde? 🙂 Well, I thought about it and decided to go with the reddish/brown, but changing her hair color probably isn’t a huge thing, and I might do that later on!

  • Flor says:

Fabulous! I love it. You have my vote on the “Let Us Spray” drawing and everything. 😉

The new Andy Tauer sounds heavenly. I haven’t actually tried any of his scents, yet. But I plan to, I just have to organize myself as far as bringing them in and all. Anyway, the notes sounds wonderful, I love lavender and I love LOVE Encens et Lavande.

    • Patty says:

If you love EetL, you should love this too. They’re not the same, but both have done away with the feel of a lavender perfume, but still preserve the lavender. which is weird, you know? 🙂

  • March says:

I think Let Us Spray should be blazed across the top of the image in big, honking type. But as you know, I love her facial expression!

No way … that dude is on the image for the fragrance? Seriously? I have to go look at his website. I am going to have to re-evaluate this fragrance entirely (although I’m suspicious I’m not precisely the target market for that image, if you catch my drift.) I’m gonna go ask Lee…

    • Lee says:

I think I AM the target market for that image, except for the belt (I prefer something simpler)….;;);))

    • Patty says:

Yeah, it will be! I just had to do it this way to show it. But on both the cups and the notepads, you put the type on the top and the picture at the bottom.

  • Marie-Helene says:

It looks cute. I think that I’d try to see how the “Let Us Spray” does around her head. It’s true that she seems to be asking herself a difficult question rather than be expressing a joyful Let Us Spray! (exclamation point?) She seems to be thinking: What shall I spritz on today? or How many shall I spritz on today?

    • Patty says:

Yeah, I think I can change the feel just with punctuation, but my intent was to be a perfumista with a lot of fumes, contemplating what to put on for today — hence the puzzled expression on her face, which I asked for.

  • Pam says:

The artwork is fabulous, Patty! No lie. Can’t wait ’til the notepad and sticky notes are available. And even though I need a coffee mug like another hole in my head, I may even spring for one of those. Shano Studio did a wonderful job. Kudos!!

PS: Like Lee, I couldn’t see the bottle label. This often happens, so I simply “copy” what looks like the blank spot, then paste it into Microsoft Photo Editor, and voila, then I can see what you or March have posted. Our operating system is old as the hills. About time for an update.

    • Patty says:

Thank you, Pam. I love her work to begin with. I’d seen it around the web on other blog designs for a while, but never checked to see who did it, and when I ran across her studio, I was so jacked!

  • Elle says:

Absolutely love it! The style, the colors, the layout – all perfect. And can’t wait to try new one from Andy. I share your lavender anxiety, so am glad to hear it got the green light from you. Also have incredible faith in Andy to get everything right.

    • Patty says:

I still haven’t decided if this new one from Andy is me, but it sure is beautiful and will be exactly right for a lot of people.

  • Silvia says:

Gorgeous. Love the colour scheme and everything else. I like the writing where it is, it kind of balances well with the picture. Well done !!!!

  • Lee says:

I get a picture no show on my mac, though I’ve seen a draft and loved it. Obviously, I’m going to graffiti over my version with bermuda shorts and a baseball cap…

    • March says:

Hey, Lee — can you respond to my question further down? What sort of reverie is Andy picturing, do you think? Your sort rather than mine? Hmmmm…

    • Patty says:

I think you should, and can you send me a copy when you’ve done that? 🙂

  • Amy K. says:

It’s fabulous! Her expression, the colors…awesome. I can’t wait for the merchandise! My only minor gripe is that I think “us” would look better capitalized.

  • Louise says:

    Thanks for the newness, Patty.

Love the gal, love the gown, great composition overall. Agree with Maria that the wording might show better on the left, especially if the gal moves a bit closer to grab and grasp of the goodies. But-she just looks a tad worried (or headachy?) to me-I’d love to see just a little more pleasure in her indecision-perhaps it’s all in the arch of the eyebrow?

I’ll look forward to trying Tauer’s newest-all are great on me, ‘cept I ruin Orris. Just render it nasty.

    • Patty says:

I worry about my perfumes, though! Which to wear, it’s really a very contemplative process every day. 🙂

andy is a genius, and everything he does has been unique. I love that the most.

    • Maria B. says:

Oh, no, Louise! March once mentioned that Orris turned bad on a friend of hers–and you are that friend! :(( My condolences. Orris is one of my faves of all time.

  • Maria B. says:

The picture is really cute! Ah, the indecision! I just wish I could wear my hair that way–too fine.

This may end up being for you like asking a group of friends for advice on where to put your sofa. “No, over there.” “No, there.” I think maybe “Let Us Spray” gets lost where it is. What if you brought it over to the left side, where the curve of the woman’s back draws attention to the area? Or it could appear above the picture.

I’m soooo looking forward to the new Andy Tauer. He makes me want to sing, “Every little thing he does is magic.” The notes look fascinating. I’m okay with all of them, and they will all be okay with me. However, I completely understand your first reaction–that holding of one’s breath wondering what’s going to happen.

Taxes. Ugh. We finally got the software tonight (which is already yesterday where you are).

    • Patty says:

I think you are right on the placement, and it’s moved now, and I think it looks better.

Taxes… ugh. And we even get a ton of money back every year (rental house and other things help there), but doing it is so painful. It usually just winds up being two full days to get it done, sometimes less, but it just needs all of my attention for about 24-36 hours, with plenty of coffee and two Xanax at the ready for after.

  • Kelly says:

:d Patty – She’s darling! And she looks so delightfully undecided! :d

Do you think maybe the “Let Us Spray” could be a smidge larger though? I think the size of the design might swallow it on a coffee mug. To my uneducated eye, the placement looks great!

    So cute!! ;))
