Dior La Collection Couturier (Patty)

I smell so good right now, it’s ridiculous. I’ve got about four or five (so far) of the new Dior La Collection Couturier scents on, and I haven’t found one yet that I hate.

This is the perfect way to wrap up 2010, wading through a bunch of new Dior scents that not only do not suck, but smell great and fell almost… dare i say it? Diorish. No, not clear back to the Diorling, Dioressence days, which not just a few people hate (I know! but it is true), but the feel is classic, defined, with a clear idea of what it is. There’s a lot of nods to modernity, but no kowtowing

I don’t want to blast out some hasty reviews, so I’m going to just roll around in these for a few days, take them to Kansas with me for the holidays, and try and write more coherent reviews that say more that “WOWIREALLYLIKETHEM!!! and “We girls are gonna love the so-called masculines as much as the boys do.”

My disclaimer is I have all of these scents in hand because I got them for TPC, and that’s my source. But instead of making you wait for thoughtful reviews, and because it is so close to Christmas, on behalf of TPC, we’re going to give away four sample sets of all seven of the new scents to four lucky commenters. So comment away on anything you like, what you’re wearing today, which one of these you want to smell the most, or none of them? Do you think this is another overreach of releasing too many at one time? Big-honking bottles, yes, and it is annoying, but they are cheap per ml.

  • zeram1 says:

I’d love to smell all of them, for perhaps there will be one that I would consider to be a “winner”; although I do agree sometimes certain companies do release too many at the same time.

  • Daniele says:

I’d be interested to smell these, but most likely won’t get a chance. My lack of access to perfume stores is one of the big things I hate about living on a little island. Honestly, without TPC and swapping I’d still be living in the land of magazine perfume strips, still under the mistaken impression that I hate the smell of rose and having never realized that Cumming smells a little bit like my dog’s paws. :)

  • Phoenixrising says:

    Hi Patty,
I’ve been reading your blogs and reviews for a while, but never commented because honestly I don’t feel savvy enough. Everyone usually has tried a multitude of fragrances and “knows” the what’s what’s of perfumes. I should also add that currently I wear BB products because it’s affordable. I fantasize about all the delicious scents you review and try to find them, on my budget of course, but usually end up with nothing.
Thank you for your generous offer, and for writing such vivid and fluid commentary on perfumes.
    Happy New Year!

  • Amy K says:

Happy holidays! I’m working my way through my last few drops of Theorema parfum (wah!) and hoping for something to replace it with, so I’d love to try something new.

  • Lia says:

After a hectic Christmas Eve, I am lolling on the sofa surfing perfume blogs, looking for the perfect perfume. Not sure what that means. I just spent a bundle on 2: Tauer’s L’air du desert morrocan (if I spelled that correctly more power to me!) and Amourage Epic Woman…like them yes, are either THE ONE, no. I purchased them on a jaunt to Vancouver where my husband and I got carried away. I should know better as committed to tester vials as I am. Long story short. Still searching.

  • maggiecat says:

I love Dior scents as a rule and have been waiting to try these until the Christmas budget issue has been resolved….Safe travels and happy holidays Patty!

  • Anthony says:

I am sure I’m too late on this drawing but I came late to the article and would love to try at least :) And my fragrance related comment to go along with this is that I’m wearing two fragrances that Luca Turin belittles in he and Sanchez’s book that I absolutely love. Rose 31, a recent gift, is wonderful to me. It’s not amazingly complex, but certainly not boring. I find it incredible that he gives such accolades to Malle Outrageous but pins Rose 31 as not rose, and boring. The other is Jo Malone 154. The fragrance is a real shape shifter. I get smoky, green, rich, resinous, deliciousness and Turin bills it a typical “sport” style masculine. I wonder if he sniffed the first 5 seconds and then washed it off. Add these to the list of “Luca Turin did me WRONG” fragrances :) Rant completed :) Happy Holidays everyone!

  • Sue says:

Testing out Smell Bent One and Prairie Nymph on Christmas Eve. Prairie Nymph is a great combination of honey, orange and carnation, like what I thought Fendi Theorema would be.

Thanks for the great giveaway – I’d love to try the new Dior collection! Merry Christmas! :)

  • Gretchen says:

Oh, of course it’s too many at once, but that doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t love to win the samples – please enter me in the drawing.

SOTD: Chanel no 5, in lovely between-rainstorms weather. More rain due tomorrow, Christmas day, when I’ll probably wear Bois de Paradis for a good mulled-spices holiday vibe. Happy holidays and a good new year to all!

  • Abyss says:

I’m always vary of any lines that put out a zillion scents all at once so it’s exciting to read that they don’t suck! Predictably, I’m most curious about the vetiver (+coffee??) one, what with being a vetiver freak an’all.

I’m still annoyed that the one counter in my area that used to have these (well, the first 3) stopped stocking them. Not that testing them was easy anyway, since they stocked the frags but never had any testers. Anyway, I’d love a chance to try these properly!

  • Jules says:

Please enter me in the draw too! Like Claudia, I’ve been wearing Etro Messe de Minuit alot lately; it’s my comfort scent. But today I put on Demeter’s Wet Garden in defiance of the winter cold!

  • Claudia says:

I hope I’m not too late to be in on this draw. I’m happy to have a job, but honestly, I’m tired of having to work so hard! Especially when it keeps me away from my perfume blogs. My holiday scents have been Etro Messe de Minuit and an Orange and Cinnamon scent from a Italian perfumer whose exact name I can’t reproduce here. (the bottle is upstairs and I’m too lazy/tired to go get it.) It’s from Florence though. I wore it last Christmas, and my niece hugged me, then said Yum, and buried her head in the crook of my neck and nestled there for awhile. She hasn’t done that since she was a little girl. It was my favorite Christmas present.

  • Cynthia L says:

Wow. I’d love to win that. Sadly, my favorite scent this season is my little tiny Guerlain Winter Delice. Why can’t everyone else stop bidding on ebay and let me win one of those rare big bottles? Or better yet, why can’t Guerlain forego some of their less wonderful recent releases and bring this one back?

  • ggs says:

This new Dior collection is EXACTLY why TPC (and decanters in general) rock! How could we pick from among all of these choices unsniffed– given the “big, honking bottles”. Winning your giveaway would be nice of course, but I’ll be on the web ordering decants very soon ;)

  • Isa says:

I would love to try this Collection. Please, enter me in the draw.

Yesterday I was wearing Diptyque Tam Dao, which is one of the perfumes I enjoy in Christmas days. In fact, it was the perfume I wore last year while the Christmas Eve dinner.

This year I think I will pick Kenzo Amour le Parfum. The incense on it is lovely and it matches my mood.

Thank you very much and Merry Christmas!

  • Kim says:

These new Diors give me hope for the house. My mother wore Diorissimo and the current iteration smells nothing like what it was in her day. . Sigh and possibly sob…….
I am really looking forward to your reviews of these. Please enter me in the draw.

  • sunnlitt says:

Thanks for the drawing. I would love to be entered.

Here’s wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!

  • Irina says:

Oh, please, enter me the draw- I’m so trilled at the revival of a great house
wearing SL Filles en aiguilles, just love it!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all

  • Mary says:

I just came from Scentbar–so I smell really good! Amouage Opus II–Boadacea Alluring– PdN Vanille Tonks–Unicorn Spell–ooh lala. Got the Vanille Tonka for my Mom–I hope she likes it. Would love to be entered for the draw, thanks and happy holidays!:)>-

  • Janet says:

The only one I have tried is New Look 1947. Love it! It may be my favorite of 2010.

I would love to try the others.

Have a wonderful and relaxing holiday!

  • Doc Elly says:

So many comments. I never win anything by chance, so I suppose there’s no point in getting my hopes up, but I WOULD like to try those new Dior fragrances.

Since you asked, I started the day by sampling Costume National Homme, then tried Michael Storer’s Djinn, then some pure oakmoss on one hand and oakmoss plus Iso E Super on the other, and am now wearing the civet-rich version of my own perfume in progress, Golden Cattleya.

If that isn’t enough to turn your stomach and send me the Diors out of sympathy, I don’t know what is.

  • ScentRed says:

SOTD is 31 Rue Cambon. Ok,ok, yes, I am on record as saying this is the perfect heels-and-hose-going-out-for-a-fancy-evening perfume, but couldn’t help but spritz it today despite having no swank cocktail parties on my agenda – only wrapping presents, taming my VERY excited kidlets, running errands and an appt with my optometrist. But I really did small fabulous ;-)

    Please enter me.

  • Lauren says:

I wore Avignon today for last minute Christmas shopping – I love how it develops through the day. On me it starts very heavy with a medievel-stone cathedral-like and ends up so much sweeter.

    Merry Christmas, Patty!

  • helenviolette says:

Enter me! I am curious. I am wearing Naivris (spell?) today from the 8th Art sample set. snice.

  • Valentine says:

Oooh, totally curious about these, but gah! hate when it’s a decent price but too-big bottles.

I actually feel I’m smelling pretty good as well. I was in Whole Foods and spritzed on a vanilla amber edt by a brand I could have sworn was called Tulip, but now I can’t find any mention of it online ANYWHERE and it’s driving me crazy because I LOVE this scent and wanted to know about the other scents and about the company without trekking back to Whole Foods during a crazy holiday weekend.

  • Seasoned says:

Would love to be in for the draw, especially for Milly-la-Forêt and more especially for New Look 1947. They sound so appropriate for a seasoned woman! Thanks for the opportunity. Happy New Year!

  • Tiffanie Hawkins says:

I’m wearing Back to Black (by Kilian) today and smell oh so sweet!

Please enter me in the drawing.

    Thank you!

  • melanie says:

I would like to be entered in the draw. I bought my first bottle of Miss Dior in 1966 in Paris…would like to experience some other Diors.
    thanks.

  • eswift says:

Vetiver sounds very raw… I’d love to smell that one in particular! I’m relatively new to the fragrance world and am really liking vetiver, but haven’t sniffed a vetiver-coffee note yet. Thanks for the chance to win!

    • nozknoz says:

Good eye, eswift – or should I say good nose? Jo Malone used to do Black Vetyver Cafe, which I really like, though it is a bit simple. The vetiver-coffee angle can definitely work. I’m looking forward to Dior’s take, too!

  • CC says:

Looking forward to your reviews! They all sound wonderful, especially Mitzah, but not sure how I’m going to get my hands on this stuff.. please enter me in the draw then!

  • phthalo says:

Oh, yay! Thank you so much for the drawing – I’ve been wanting to sample these since I heard about the collection. I think I’m most interested in New Look 1947 as I’m a white floral addict, but Mitzah also sounds intriguing, as well as Bois d’Argent and Eau Noire, which I haven’t tried yet… so many to look forward to! :o)

  • minette says:

good to hear that these smell good – they sounded good, but that doesn’t always translate, as we all know. would love to roll around in them, too.

i was thrilled to find cdg daphne at my fave local boutique today – i didn’t know they were going to get it, so it was a fun surprise. i love daphne, even as so many despise it. ha. when i asked for a decant of daphne at barney’s the SAs made such faces i offered to do it myself, so they wouldn’t get it on their hands. they were all too happy to let me!

  • Stephen says:

The leather oud one sounds right up my alley! Please enter me in the draw!

  • Lynne1962 says:

I have a little bit of a few of these. The vetyver is amazing!! Really classy. Would love to try these samples! Esp. Leather oud:)

  • Nina Z says:

I’m still in that phase where I want to try everything, so, um, I want to try all of them!

  • Nancy says:

V e r y interested in these….New Look intriguing. Please enter me in the draw. I have a little Parisienne on….I say little because with a cold it is hard to discern the smells…Merry Christmas to you.

  • mariekel says:

    HAPPY HOLS!

I would love to try these — that leather oud has been calling to me…

  • Flora says:

Ooh, please enter me, these sound great! I am looking forward to smelling the leather one very much, and all the others too. I am SO glad they made an effort with this new group!

SOTD: DSH Perfumes Tamarind Paprika, which just smells deliciously “holiday” to me for some reason, very tangy fruit with a hint of spicy heat.

  • Fiordiligi says:

These new Diors sound fabulous! I went to the Rene Gruau exhibition at Somerset House earlier in the week and it has really re-kindled my Dior love. Would love to sample them please! Thank you.

Wearing a Roja Dove semi-bespoke today: No 6. Heavenly powdery oriental. Oh, and Pluie in extrait? Yes pleez.

    Merry Christmas!

  • rednails says:

Sounds great, Patty. I’ve been wearing spicy holiday-type scents in the last few days, or deep chypres, to keep warm: Diva, Femme, Youth Dew Amber Nude, Cinnabar.

  • Paige says:

What a wonderful give away! I’m wearing Ralph Lauren’s Turquoise today and wishing I were at home reading the book I just picked up – Chandler Burr’s ‘The Perfect Scent’
    Happy Holidays to everyone!

  • (Ms.)Christian says:

    Happy holidays Patty.

Please enter me in the drawing. I am wearing the DSH mushroom thing and I really don’t like it. Way too much birch tar and not much else. Makes Andy’s Lonestar Memories smell like a pretty light floral in comparison. Have her Silver Fir on the other wrist and it’s so aquatic/ozonic, I think it is going to get thrown out post haste. Where are the damn trees?

  • violetnoir says:

Thanks, Patty. Please enter me in the drawing because I am dying to test New Look and Mitzah.

I am wearing Anne Pliska today. It smells like Christmas in a bottle to me.

    Hugs!

  • Francesca says:

Wow, how great to read about a new collection that’s not only not disappointing, but actually good! Would love to see what they’re like.

  • denise says:

Oh my gosh! I ant to smell them all, but especially Leather Oud. i don’t think it’s overkill if the scents are worthy, like most, if not all if the Chanel Exclusifs. Anyway, please please enter me in the draw.

  • odonata9 says:

I’ve got a cold, so just wearing a spritz of Yves Rocher Vanilla for comfort. Would love to try these – thanks for the drawing!

  • london says:

I’d love to try them all though none of them sound very Christmassy which is what I’m in the mood for now. Merry Christmas one and all.

  • jill says:

I’ll be a broken record and say that Leather Oud is at the top of my (and it seems many other) list, please enter me!
    :)

  • Dante's Bra says:

I’m still trying to decide what to wear today… still working on my excellent swappage samples! Timbuktu started working for me recently– it really glows in all our rainy weather in Seattle. VERY excited about the Diors!

    Throw me in, please!

    Happy Solstice, everyone!

  • Kym says:

I was just thinking the other day how much I adore the old Dior’s. Diorella, Diorissimo, Dioressence. I’m so grateful that they are still being produced and even more grateful that I found a store that has some older (although not vintage) bottles. I was not aware of this new collection, but you can bet I’ll want to give them a try!

I’m wearing PG’s Cadjmere today (sp?). Perfect for the wet, cloudy weather here.

Please enter me in the drew & Merry Christmas!

  • jirish says:

Please enter me in the draw. I’m really excited about the turn in direction this is for the house.

  • snowpavement says:

Just ordered vintage Diorella, two bottles, no less, and am wearing the marvelous Miss Dior this morning. I eagerly await Mitzah which is also on its way to me from a scent-split. Yes, please enter me in the draw. Merry Christmas everyone!

  • Mindy says:

I would love to win. I don’t think I’m getting any perfume this Christmas.:((

  • Tom says:

I’m wearing Derby today in the (finally!) sunshiny SoCal weather.

  • Milena says:

Wearing le Labo Vanille 44 today. Leather Oud and Mitzah are the scents I would like to smell the most. Plese, enter me in the draw.

    Happy Holidays!

  • sonia garcia says:

I love Dior and saw them in my trip to Las Vegas but I didn’t have the time to tried them at all.:((

  • Geordan1244 says:

I told SuziQ that I’ve tried about 50 new things in the last two weeks (due to the swap, a two-hour perfume counter trip to Nieman Marcus, and the Outlaw fragrances), and I think my sense of smell and appreciation for things is off (I’m not liking the dry-downs of most everything I try…maybe I’m just in sensory overload?), but your appreciation of this is making me want to try these! Please enter me in the draw.

I’m wearing Organza today, just because. :)

  • jen says:

Please enter me – the only thing I’ve been wearing for the past two days is vomit and snot. Sick kids, then sick me, now more sick kids and sick hubby. Ugh.

  • barbara says:

enter me please…I am most interesteed in Mitzah, Leather Oud,Ambre-cannot wait to smell their depth(and the tribgute to the muse in Mitzah).Wearing Serge these days(Fille)to bring the smoke and pine down my halls after me, and Bois Vanille….

  • OperaFan says:

Yes! Please enter me in the draw. I’ve been looking forward to trying these ever since I read about them on Octavian’s blot.
SOTD: Delrae Bois de Paradis (Thanks Tammy!), to me, smells a lot like Christmas.

  • Elisa says:

Please enter me in the draw! I’m not wearing anything yet today, but when I got home to my parents’ house I found my old bottle of Egoiste Cologne Concentree, which must be at least 15 years old — and it smells FABULOUS. That was my spray of the yesterday and I may wear it on Christmas too, though I brought home six or seven decants!

  • Hey all, I’m wearing vintage Caleche parfum today, in a nearly dead-quiet office, and it’s so seriously Fraaanch and oakmossy, it’s heaven. Do, please enter me in the draw. Thanks!

    Happy Holidays, everyone!

  • Rappleyea says:

I love most of the really old Diors, but other than the two Escale things, I haven’t ventured much into the newer ones. These sound like they might have possibilities, and I too look forward to your reviews.

Yes, please enter me, although note to everyone else: I won’t lessen your chances of winning as I couldn’t win a draw if I was the only one entered!

Happy (and beautifully scented) holidays to all!

  • dremybluz says:

happy holidays. please enter me in the draw

  • Cheryl says:

Please enter me..if I’m not too late. I’ve been craving roses lately..I think as a de-stresser. I’m wearing/sampling two new to me scents:
Cartier 13th heure (leather and smoked tea) and Donna Karan signature (bad girl plums) but the bottle..is. quite. something. Neither of these are roses.

  • tango says:

Please enter me. I’m newer to fragrances so trying everything I can get my hands on and many Diors are on my list.

Right now wearing AG Myhrre Ardente. It’s not doing it for me since it’s not compatiable with the El Nino (hot and humid) fall and early winter we’re having in Texas. If I waited for true cold weather to try “supposed” winter scents, I’d have dozens of untried fragrances on my hands for who knows how long.

  • d3m0lici0n says:

I’d love to try more from the new Dior collection I have and love Eau Noire. Thanks!

  • Connie says:

Wow, I had not heard of these either but am instantly intrigued. I am wearing Theorema today and am about to ask myself out for a date. ;-)

Please enter me in the draw, thanks! And a wonderful Christmas to you, Patty, and all the fab folks on here.

  • FragrantWitch says:

Oh please enter ‘me! I have been looking forward to the Mitzah, Leather Oud and New Look 1947. What a fab Christmas present if I were to win!

Happy Holidays to all at the Posse!!

  • GalileosDaughter says:

I’m so glad that Dior is back! Not enough to forgive the big bottles, though.

    Wearing Shalimar Light today.

  • MB says:

I have not tried the new collection. Wearing Terre d’Hermes parfum today.

  • Victoria says:

Patty, I will only say that I cannot wait to read your reviews of these ones. So far, some friends love them, others find them boring, but since I have not tried them yet, I am curious what you and March like out of the collection the most.

  • Roberto says:

Please enter me in the draw, I love to try these new ones like the vetiver, granville and mitzah

  • Kathryn says:

I’m not wearing anything yet this morning. Still checking the blogs for inspiration! The Dior I would like to smell the most is Ambre Nuit. Although it’s been out for about a year I think, a sample still has not come my way. I don’t mind the number of new releases (more to smell!) and I don’t mind the big bottles (all the better to split!). What I do mind is such a limited release that these perfumes are virtually impossible to find online. I truly do not understand marketing strategies that make it so difficult to buy a manufacturer’s products. Roger Vivier, the numbered Prada series, I’m talking about you, too! Patty, thank you so much for this draw and just generally for offering samples of these rarified perfumes to mere mortals like me.

  • Dana says:

Yes, please! These sound wonderful and if you’re gushing, I’m excited! Thanks for entering me.

  • Barbara says:

I just found a bottle of NIB Hermes Caleche Fleurs de Mediterranee on Amazon.com of all places. Please enter me in this drawing-I’m feeling lucky!

  • gautami says:

Please enter me in the draw. I would like to try them all. Miss Dior, and Diorella are my favs of the Dior line so far. I have yet to try Eau Noir too.

  • rosarita says:

Oh, thanks for the opportunity, please enter me! My current obsession is that I can’t find the decant of Bas de Soie that I just swapped for :(( here’s hoping that if I actually clean my house it will turn up……..

  • OrbWeaver says:

Would love to try these – I need a “smell ridiculously good” moment

  • Fernando says:

I’ve actually tried to sniff these with no luck at all so far. At the Dior boutique in Boston the guy just looked at me like I was crazy: “Mostly we just sell J’Adore…”

    So I wants these!

  • Carly McKay says:

I want to “smell so good it’s ridiculous”!!! How cheery this give away is so close to Xmas, please enter me!!!

    God Jul!

  • Suzy Q says:

Swoon. If I fall in love with them I’ll deal with the size of the bottles later. Thanks for entering me in the draw.

  • Marsi says:

Please enter me in the draw. I haven’t found anything to fall in love with in a couple of years, and it’s so boring! I adore those old Diors, particularly Dioressence, which I wore in high school.

And I’m just bored in general, what, with the complete lack of snow here on the Denver plains. My god, I feel like I’m about to flip out with all of this October weather.

  • aubrey says:

Oh gosh! I am dying to try these. I think of myself now as a classics girl, so the entire collection sounds like a good fit. Especially the leather. I’ve been wearing cdr constantly and want more leather

  • Debbie R. says:

Please enter me. I’m dying to sample some new fragrances and particularly these.

  • marina says:

Testing 3 of these today…not overwhelmed with awe, so far. But have high hopes still for a couple of them :)

  • Suzanne says:

Oooohhh…would love to try those new Diors! Merry Christmas to all. SOTD: Cuir de Lancome, which I’m lovin…

  • Thanna says:

What perfect timing! Just got a decant of Bois d’Argent for myself but my SO snuck it over to his side of the scent shelf! I’m hoping some of the new Diors will work as well for both of us as BdA does. Please enter me in the draw.

  • Sherri M. says:

This is the first I’d heard of these! They all sound so promising, but I’m especially intrigued by Milly-la-Foret. Is it powdery? Green? Musky? Many conflicting opinions out there!

Please enter me in the draw! Thanks & wish everyone happy holidays!! :-)

  • Mellisu says:

Merry Christmas to ya’ll at the Posse! SOTD is OJ Champaca, which is perfect after coming back from my am swim. Thanks for entering me in the draw, and please PICK ME!

  • mocards says:

Patty, March, and Posse(my morning coffee buddies)—wishing all of you a joyous holiday and an exciting new year. :-)
I’d like to be entered in the drawing for the new Diors. Thank you.

  • Maura says:

Oh. They really sound *that* good! Please enter me in the drawing and Merry Christmas!(*)

  • Marte says:

I would love to win a sample set of these! Thank you for this amazing offer :) They sound gorgeous, and I’m a fan of the classic Diors. Especially Diorissimo and Dioressence. But I really don’t understand why they make the bottles so huge… I’m most curious about New Look and Mitzah.

Today I’m wearing Parfums de Nicolai – Vanille Tonka, and I got a compliment from a co-worker about how great I smelled!

  • karin says:

Ooooh! What a wonderful offer, Patty! I don’t know enough about them to identify the ones I want to try…and I’m still in my PJs, so haven’t chosen a SOTD yet. :-) Yesterday it was Sacrebleu. Today might be Cartier’s Defendue?

  • jane f. says:

Yesterday I went to Sacs in search of a replacement Dior….I had diorella, but it wasn’t QUITE what I remembered my French hostess wearing back in 1987…have been in search of ever since. So I tried both Diorama and Dioressence…had a hard time determining which one I like more for a while. Both my little boys gave me their opinion, but unfortunately each one like a different one… I will say though that the “animalistic” in the negative sense didn’t show up on me as negative at all in the Dioressence…and it dried down very nicely whereas the Diorama was a little “harsh” at the very end. still, though, I REALLY want to buy one or the other SOON and am not sure (based on some very negative reviews of Dioressence.) It’s just that Diorama seems too…Dramatic for an everday kind of scent for me.

  • Nancy C. says:

It’s nice to see Dior get back in the perfume game. Count me in for the draw.

  • olfactoria says:

I would love to try these!
I’m trying to get into a more christmas-y spirit by wearing Caron Parfum Sacre today, not working yet, but at least I smell terrific ;)

  • nbh says:

Yes, please enter me in the drawing. Where is this collection sold? I don’t think I have ever seem them in a department store. Are they available from the Dior website?

  • JAntoinette says:

Just spritzed a little Bandit(an oxymoron to be sure)and looked up the new collection; I’m kinda excited now (granville sounds especially tempting). Seven scents at one time does give me a little anxiety though, haha! I think I would be a little overwhelmed at the counter with all those gleaming bottles staring up at me like little soldiers.

  • jan v says:

Please enter me into the draw..I have not been in acquisition mode for a few months but am feeling it ramping up! As for what I wore today…vintage Cinnabar. The lightest bit is the key to its best qualities-perfect for potential rain in California this week.

  • Vintage Lady says:

I would so much love to enter this draw. My memories of Diorissimo and Miss Dior seem a bit far away now:”> at some friends’s and a girl told me Oh Oh you also use Diorissimo like I do! And then at the beauty shop a friend of the US and I trying to get a nice Dior scent I had never tried. This one! she said. Fine, I will take Miss Dior. Now it’s different, and reading this took me back in time all of a sudden. If there was no perfume in both scenes I would not have been able to remember such warm moments. Perfume is a medium. Merry Christmas!

Please DON’T enter me…I will be doomed to more lemmings and today I am wearing Guerlain Vega, which is my solution to no 5 and so another lemming is born …luckily it is only edt strength otherwise I would be in deep trouble!
    Enjoy them Patty

  • aotearoa says:

Leather oud sounds great. I’d love to be in the draw but you’re probably not posting to NZ/
Today I wore a little Tribute attar and it’s great stuff.

  • Zazie says:

Today I am wearing Guerlain extrait, and I smell wonderfully leathery under this cold cold rain.
    :x

I am also enjoying Shaal nuur and Attrape coeur very much, lately.
But I think these new Diors might fit in with my current rotation, if they are so nice! ;)
I am not drawn to multiple releases, but they are also fun to test, and not always bad (the chanel exclusifs, I liked many of them, for example). Many thanks for the draw!

  • Bee says:

I’ve been to busy to check these out yet, – a sample pack would be wonderful, even if I’m not (yet) a Dior fan
SOTD is Amaranthine, nice confort scent for the last day at work this year!

  • pyramus says:

I don’t know anything about the new Diors: I haven’t heard anything because I CAN’T KEEP UP. Everyone’s doing six eight fourteen releases at once, as if there weren’t enough new launches already. Even Serge Lutens is doing them in twos these days. (Did he always? I don’t know because I CAN’T KEEP UP.)

I swear to god that one of these days someone is going to do a launch of three hundred and sixty five new scents, one for each day of the year with a special extra one for February 29th, and NOBODY WILL BAT AN EYE. Some people will pick and choose, some people will try every single one and say, “I thought December 14th wasn’t really all that good but I just love April 27th,” and we’ll all act as if it were all perfectly normal and we weren’t DROWNING IN PERFUME.

Sorry. But it is all just too much, and in addition to that It is five in the morning and I’ve been up for almost three hours, because insomnia is SO MUCH FUN that I just can’t get enough. Now I’m going back to bed. When I get up I will wear Mitsouko, which always makes me feel like I’m in control of the situation.

  • Ines says:

I don’t know yet how big the bottles are but if they are cheap by ml, that only makes me think they will more easier to swap for. :)
    Please count me in. :)

  • Gisela says:

I’m glad to hear about promising new releases – Octavian was so positive about them!
I’m still smelling last night’s Rubj on me, will switch to Alahine after showering…

  • Jennifer says:

I would love to try the new Dior releases (if I’m elligible ).I am in the want-to-try-anything stage. So far only AmorAmor and Burberry Weekend (mens) were EEEWWW!!! Scrubber!!
I can empathize with those in retail -I’m in the trenches with you .Our semi-annual sale just started too-bras are practically attacking from the racks!
wearing vestiges of Golden Woods by Max Factor on skin and my turtle from yesterday is scented with Covet.

  • ElizabethC says:

My only exposure to Dior is Eau Sauvage which my husband really liked. However, I am planning to try the vintage soon. Really curious about Diorella!! How can you not want to try something that smells like fur coats and mint toothpaste? I would love to have this sample set to see what they are creating now!!!!

  • bryan says:

I bought a bottle of New Look unsniffed because it is centered around tuberose and well, I can’t help myself around that flower. It’s gorgeous and I have been drowning myself in it for about 5 day. Not too intense, not boring. Love it!
I’m excited to try any of the others, so please enter me in a draw. Thanks!!

Any chance we’d hook up over the holiday….I’m not too far from your sister I think.
    : )

  • Jared says:

Oh what the heck, enter me! My knowledge of Dior is woefully, low, although I do have a few. I had a total eureka moment with Eau Sauvage when I realized how awesome it is. Guys should be wearing that instead of this ozonic clean crap! Scent right now is Fracas: I felt like something really brazen.

  • Lilybug says:

Sick with a cold so I’m miserable and without fragrance. I hate not being able to smell.

  • Masha says:

I wish they would sell sets like this in a “Traveler’s Set” of 10ml each! The Cartier Heures should be sold like that, too. Ormonde Jayne sells a wonderful sample set in a gorgeous presentation box. I think more brands should do this.
So they smell “Diorish”? Any of them smell like vintage Dune? That one’s my favorite. Please enter me in the draw.
    Thanks!

  • Illdone says:

    Hello Patty,
Octavian’s review a while back made me very curious about the new Dior’s.
As I knew the new serie would be released in France before anywhere else I crossed the boarder twice , only to find out that they were exclusively available in Paris not in the other shops of “Le Printemps” closer to my home. As driving on to Paris is a traffic nightmare, I sort of gave up. Perhaps the Posse (or better TPC) will enable me to smell them?
Also, best of wishes (your recent birthday)and happy holidays!

  • dinazad says:

It’s early in the morning here, so I’m not wearing anything yet – a decision will be made on the spur of the moment. After I’ve had my tea of the day (I have an Advent calendar of herbal teas – 24 different varieties…).
I’m excited about the Diors and dying to try Mitzah! Thanks for entering me in the draw.

    Merry Christmas to everybody!

  • Sharon says:

I’m decompressing after wrapping up a semester from hell and the thought of new scents to rejuvenate me is delightful! Thanks for including me!

    Merry Christmas to you!

  • Olivia says:

Oooooh I had no clue about these! The Leather Oud is sounding pretty interesting – would love to try that :) Please enter me? And thanks for the possible chance to try them all!

As for right now, I’m wearing L’Air du Desert Marocain – second time trying it and okay, now I get it, I get how amazing it is :) So good!

    Happy Holidays!!! :D

  • Kelly says:

Hi Patty! Hope to see you when you’re in town. In the meantime, please enter me in this draw since I’m dying for something new and fun. And give mom my best!

  • Lindaloo says:

As someone who loves the old/classic Diors (especially Diorella) I’m looking forward to sampling these. Please enter me into the draw.
At the moment I’m especially curious about Mitzah and New Look 1947 as well as Granville and Leather Oud. But I do feel these 5, 7, 10 releases at a time are generally ovrwhelming. I’d rather they announced that they were doing a new line and then release 2 at a time so that there would something to anticipate in the coming few years. You may be right, however, that by releasing so many at once they are bound to have a breakthrough into the mainstream. A return to greatness is devoutly to be wished.

  • Mina J says:

Aaaa, I’m so looking forward to trying these! I love Dior — the very first perfume I ever bought with my own money was Dior Dolce Vita. Please enter me in the draw!

  • Denise B says:

Oh, yes, yes, yes! Chanel, Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels … it’s about time Dior got around to doing their own collection of boutique drool-worthies. Mitzah, Ambre, and New Look are particularly tempting…

SOTD is the little sample of Bakir that came with my recent Ava Luxe order. I’ve been on an Oriental kick lately — there’s something about the cold snap in the air that makes me crave incense and vanilla. Please enter me in the drawing!

  • Stephen says:

First time commenter here!!! I would love to be entered in the draw!! I became very interested in the new Dior scents since I saw a few reviews over on 1000 fragrances… I actually wore Dior Homme today, something about that cocoa called to me today =), and I also rediscovered Lovely by SJP at my local Kohl’s today and forgot how much i liked it.. Nice!!! Happy holidays to all!!

  • jen says:

Wearing Mitsouko cause it’s raining. I love the oud.

  • Pklagrange says:

Just sent Chanel to my kid sister for Christmas and have 4 scents from TPC to try, including Portrait of a Lady. Am so ready foe Christmas & spent the day wearing JM Pom Noir. Happy Holidyas everyone!

Please enter me in the draw as I would love to sample those Diors

  • Alice C says:

I’d really like to try out the Mitzah…Please enter me in the drawing!! Merry Christmas!

  • Madea says:

Please enter me. I smell like lavendar bath soap and shampoo, at the moment. I might have to spray on some Jean Nate, as the cat seems to like it, and she’s perched on my head (lazyboy recliner).

  • SaraK says:

Please enter me! I’m really interested in the Ambre and the Vetiver.

  • Mrs.Honey says:

The Diors I like are Poison and Hypnotic Poison. I don’t like J’Adore. How do these compare to the existing Dior line up?

  • Furriner says:

I love your excitement about these. I am very interested in trying them, so enter me into the draw!!

  • Taffy says:

I would love to be entered in the draw as well. They sound like apps that should be on one’s IPhone.

  • Maria B. says:

Hi, I’m delurking after a long time of silence because it is Christmas break. Lately I’ve been wearing Aqua Allegoria Winter Delice a lot. It’s calling me. I got two bottles when it got discontinued. Sometimes I go overboard on the closeout sales, but this time I was right. The other one I’m wearing a lot is Theorema, another discontinued beauty. (I know Lee wouldn’t apply this last description to the Aqua Allegoria.) Please enter me in the drawing.

    • Patty says:

      Missed you!!!!

I’m totally with you on the Theorema. It’s winter, and I need to drag that out, especially for Christmas. It’s so perfect. But the Winter Delice? If you love that, Granville is calling your name. I like Granville more than Winter Delices by a country mile. That’s the pine one, right? yeah, I think so, going by memory here.

  • Danielle says:

    Hi Patty!

I want to smell ALL of them! I took part in a bottle split for Mitzah, but it won’t arrive until after the holidays… I can’t wait to sniff the whole line! Kindly enter me in the draw for samples :)

    Best,
    dee

    • Patty says:

Oh, so you’ve smelled Mitzah? That one has the tenacity of coal dust, but in a good way. I’m seeing what’s left on my arm this morning of all of them, and Mitzah survived nicely, and it’s quite beautiful. She was a little patch-fierce for me yesterday, but she’s a great houseguest on my arm this morning.

  • Kim says:

I want to know Dior more!

    • Patty says:

There was a few times in the last couple of years I would have told you to just skip past them. I’m probably overexcited about these just because I love the old Diors so much and a few of the new ones, and I’ve been hopeful for years that they’d get back to making good perfumes instead of some of the crap they had been making.

  • lemonprint says:

OMG exciting! so interested in sniffing these – please enter me in this draw, pls pls pls! I actually love some diors (well, vintage diorissimo) and am very interested in seeing what these are like just based on your microreview of “I really like them!”

    Enjoy them in Kansas!

  • bellemoon says:

Delurking…..tempted out by the draw! Please do enter me! I second nozknoz on being grateful that Dior is making wonderful perfumes again……hopefully none of these smell like burnt kettle corn!

SOTD was Pilar and Lucy’s tiptoeing through chambers of the moon. I work from home so I can cheerfully sillage monster myself into oblivion if I please. Still really undecided about this frag, it is a total no no in the the South during summer. In winter, on good days its dirty amber and patchouli on me, with a hint of tuberose. On bad days it sends me screeching for the vinegar bottle.
Then I washed it all off and replaced with Tommy Bahama body lotion, just to round the day out. :d

    • Patty says:

Ah, the Diors bring you out! Welcome to commenting.

I’ve really liked what Dior has done with this little section of perfumery, and I’m hoping that making the line bigger, they’ll get some more exposure. All they need is for one or two of them to break out into the mainstream, and then maybe they’ll return to great perfumery again.

    • nozknoz says:

“burnt kettle corn” ROTFL! So glad you delurked, bellemoon!

  • Tiara says:

This is why I love coming here…I learn something new almost every day. Yes, please include me in the draw!

Speaking of Dior, just a bit ago I spritz on Dior Homme. Love to wear this to bed, which is where I’m headed. Has been a busy, long day even with a tea break this afternoon (thanks, Ann!). Actually, this has been a long week. No, make that year.

  • nozknoz says:

Oh, these are what I have most wanted to sniff ever since reading the reviews that Octavian posted on some of them, and now I am VERY much looking forward to your take! It is so exciting that Dior is making wonderful perfume again! Obviously, I would be delighted to be included in the draw!

I had an important meeting today and wore the Iris Gris recreation from Legendary Fragrances – very beautiful, soft and plush. I don’t usually wear perfume on days that I have meetings, but I do not think it is not loud enough for anyone to notice, and it would be quite disarming to anyone who did.

    • Patty says:

I did like that Iris Gris recreation. It’s really not the same as the original, but it’s a nice take on Iris that’s similarish.

I’d really like to see a big house take a run at redoing Iris Gris. guerlain could do it if they just thought about Apres L’ondee and Mitsouko and didn’t drown it in vanilla.

      • nozknoz says:

And someone, I forget who, has the ACTUAL FORMULA for Iris Gris but is just sitting on it. This drives me crazy! :(( Makes me want to round up a bunch of other perfumed peasants with torches and storm their castle!

  • Anita says:

I would love to receive these samples. I am tired of oudh. I especially would like to try Mitzah because I am trying to form a relationship with amber. I think it is beautiful but it makes me feel a little sickish (funny that one of those reactions does not cancel out the other.) Happy Holidays to everyone!

    • Patty says:

Happy Holidays to you too! this is a nice amber. The patchouli masks it a little in the early stages, and then it has this really great drydown.

  • Style Spy says:

Fell head-over-heels in love at first sniff with New Look, so I’m dying to try the others. It’s so gorgeous – a big French floral with this… friendly (and yet French!) vanilla backbone. I just didn’t even know what to do with myself the first time I spritzed it. I think it’s going to be a classic.

    • Patty says:

New Look is an absolute delight to wear. I do feel so ’50s, but in a modern, feminine way. I agree, it’s a classic. It needs wider distribution, of course, but amongst perfumistas, I think it will be a huge hit. As well as the Leather Oud and the Vetiver. And the La-Floret is soft powedery floral, if you like that, it’s perfection. I’m not a big fan of that style, but it didn’t annoy me. Mitzah is a great oriental. Sorta Coromandelish, but more ambery. Wait, I think I covered most of them. 🙂

  • Tara says:

I have heard really good things about these Diors over at 1000fragrances..I can’t wait to try them!!

SOTD – Quand Vient La Pluie…I wish I had a couple thousand $$ hanging around so I could go for the big 500 ml jug of parfum, which I believe can still be found..Anyone for a split?

    • Patty says:

I’d totally be in for some La Pluie. Is it around anywhere? I asked Guerlain in Paris, and they didn’t have any. But if you find some, let me know, I’m totally in!

      • Tara says:

        Patty,

Thanks!!! That would be so great if we could work something out. I’ll call the Guerlain boutique where I have purchased other HTFs and let you know.

What cool Christmas present for me if this can work!!! :)

  • Erin T says:

Please enter me! I love the original three colognes, and particularly Eau Noire, but Ambre Nuit was one of the biggest disappointments of last year for me. Wary, but holding out hope for this collection, and especially New Look and Granville…

    • Patty says:

Oh, I really like Ambre Nuit, but I can see how it would go so wrong on a person.

    • Musette says:

      Erin –

Both New Look and Granville are beeyooteeful. Not ‘blow your socks off’ beeyootiful – but very lovely, with that weird balancing act between Old/New Dior.

this is my opinion, of course [-( but I’m never wrong! Am I? 🙁

      xoxo >-)

  • Daniela says:

Wow this is the first I’ve heard of these fumes – shows ya how much I’m in the loop, especially around the holidays. Now that I’ve had a few minutes of learning about them, they look quite fabulous and interesting. “New Look 1947”, “Mitzah”, “Granville”, and “Leather Oud” (!!) all sound amazing.

Count me in too, I’d love to try some of these out!

    • Patty says:

I know! All the Diors in the big bottles seem to be under the radar, even the great old ones, like Bois D’Argent, and only those who obsess on this stuff know about them. I knew they wer ein Paris, but was in shock when I ran into them at the Las Vegas Dior boutique. Just didn’t think they’d have them yet!

  • I am most looking forward to Dior’s Leather Oud. Those are my two obsessions in fragrance right now, so I am very interested to know what Dior’s interpretation will be. I would like to be entered in the draw, please. :)

  • Scent Hive says:

I’m wearing Guerlain Dandy today and I too smell so good right now! Count me in for the draw please, would love to sniff the new Dior’s :-)

    • Patty says:

Is that the new one or the old one? I can’t remember the two new ones they just did.

      • Scent Hive says:

It’s one of the new ones from the recent duo Jean-Paul Guerlain created. I think I read somewhere that these will be the last fragrances from him…can’t remember where though :-?

  • Christine Lasky says:

I am working retail during the Christmas season and as a result I am beyond exhausted. Forgive the fact that my entire comment consists of : Please enter me!
    Merry Christmas!

    • Patty says:

I can relate. We’ve been buried at TPC, and you just get exhausted, but hang in there for the after-christmas stuff, then you can return to normal!
