Etro Sandalo

I was chatting at ScentBar the other day and we got on the subject of Etro and how many of them that we liked.  I completely forgot that there’s a boutique of theirs within walking distance of my little hovel.  I also forgot that I had a sample of this one, so here we are.

Like most Etro scents, this is one smooth little baby.  It’s a little old school, a sweet, raw sandalwood with touches of resiny amber and myrrh.  There’s a bit of sour citrus at the opening but that’s fleeting.  a few minutes in and were at the heart of the woods, as smooth and sensual as the matched veneers of a vintage Rolls.  The middle is touched by patchouli and lavender and is lovely, but it’s the drydown that really knocks it out of the park.  That combination of amber, musk, myrrh and woods is wonderful.

Even better is the price: Amazon has it in the 3.3 oz size for $70.  My sample was from the store.

I just got a decant of this and love it! And I am not terribly fond of sandalwood because it easily goes sandals on me. This is so beautiful.

LOVE this one. So transparent, ethereal and soft. A meditative sandalwood. Beauty.

I haven’t tried Sandalo, but I really like Shaal Nur (thanks for the decant, Tamara!) and Messe de Minuit. I seem to recall thinking fairly positive thoughts about Royal Pavillon, as well, though that was some time ago.

Raw sandalwood, resiny amber and myrhh sounds like just the ticket..

I’m a big fan of Sandalo and I especially love wearing it to bed after my bath or when I do Pilates and yoga.
It just melts into your skin when it’s warmed up and is such a relaxing, cozy scent you know?
It’s simple but not boring. I love the myrrh in Sandalo.

I keep saying I don’t love sandalwood but I dunno….this sounds intriguing… (anything that conjures matched veneers in a vintage Roller …:x )

This does sound nice! Sandalwood is the only scent that my husband really likes (though I’m working on him with vetiver) and I’m always looking for new ones to try. of course I like it as well, especially for cooler days!

This is by far my favourite soli-wood (yeah, you get it right?). It’s truly unisex in that it’s, as you mention, slightly sweet and rounded in the base notes. The Sandalo body lotion is to die for with amazing longevity and sillage. Totally worthy splurging on because it’s also a great base for layering.
