Menopause Sucks – Week 3

menopaAuse cure

Week three of my 30-day nutritional superfood cleanse.   Pretty sure this is going longer than 30 days, so I’ll probably take that part out next week.

Great week and let’s get to The deets –

Weight – down 2 pounds. Excellent!  I’m hoping for a 1-2 pound loss every week, thrilled with this.  Total is 13 pounds now.

Inches lost – I was thinking there would be a slowdown this week.  All other measurements but waist and hips stayed the same.   Waist is down another 1.5 inches and hips are down 1 inch.   Again, this is amazing because the inches are coming off the one spot that was completely out of kilter, and the other areas seem to be adjusting in rate of loss to balance me out so I don’t turn into a pear instead of a box. I look in the mirror now and see a shape that isn’t a square emerging.  Up until my 40s, I’ve always had an hourglass figure, and the loss of that, plus the menopause’ish symptoms really made me feel like less of a girlie girl.   Now I’ve got a 4 and 5 inch difference from bust and hips and that is completely cool. Total inches lost this week – 2.5.  Total in three weeks – 18.5.

Energy – Continues super-high. I even did two fast cleanse days this week since I can’t do any next week. My energy may not be quite as high during the deep cleanse days, but I work and do everything else I normally do. I skip exercise on those days – seems prudent.

Exercise – sprints and some light yoga (meaning me just stretching around for about 10 minutes).  I’m picking up the pace on this next week, seems like a good place to add it in.  Anyone have recommendations on how hard to hit this?  I don’t want to go so hard that I get sore, and my muscles retain water like crazy when they are sore.  I know it will drop off, but I’m not yearning to have that week – and I know it may happen at some point – where there is a zero loss for the week.   I”m thinking just up the sprints to 3x a week, add kettlebells and 1x hot yoga.  Yeah?  Nay?  More?  Less?

My sister, update on her. She’s lost 13 pounds in two weeks and 5 inches on her waist. She’s also thrilled. She’s had more hunger issues than me, not sure why, but she says they are dissipating since it’s an emotional hunger for food and not real hunger.

I think one of the most helpful things in doing this so far is to have a really good feel for what is real hunger when you need to eat vs. just eating for all the other reasons we eat – boredom, stress, need a break, etc., etc.  You’ve seen this list before.  The other thing that is super-helpful is for my one meal a day, what I crave is something healthy, like a big old salad.  My cravings for crap food, sugars, processed flours, chips are all gone. I don’t even think about them. I don’t believe for one second that my brain has given up on more calorically fat/sugar exotic meals, but right now it seems more occupied with dreaming of leafy greens vs. cupcakes.

Still loving this program, it’s working brilliantly.  I feel great and the weight is dropping as are the inches.  I don’t think I could ask for anything more.   Not that I think it’s smooth sailing fro now on in.  I know there will be boredom that sets in or disappointment if there is no loss.  I’ll need to deal with that when it arrives, but not there yet and not borrowing trouble! Let me know if you have any questions by e-mail (patty at perfumeposse dawtcawm) or dropping a comment here.

Right now I’m finding that excessive gardening is dropping inches off my body – I don’t have time (really don’t) to go to the gym (it keeps banker’s hours) so hauling compost/gravel/ripping out sod and blasted bushes is really helping. I’m also being way more careful about what I put in my mouth – have cut the refined sugar down a good 40%. I don’t need 4 brownies. One will do, if I am mindful of it. So I stay mindful.

So glad this regimen is working for you, sweetie!

Good job! I had my physical this week. I was hoping for a bit of a weight loss but I weighed exactly the same as I did last year. 🙁 I suppose that’s good considering the long winter we had. My scale and the doctors scale aren’t in synch either but now I know how many pounds difference there is between them. I happier with the number on my scale.
I like yoga but not hot yoga. I slip all over the mat. It’s too distracting for me. Kettle bells are fun but I’m always afraid I’m going to lose my grip and send the thing flying across the room. It’s a great workout as long as you don’t drop it.

Hi! patty! I’m so happy for you! I really love hot yoga. I try to kettle ball two times a week and hot yoga two times a week with cardio in between. I try to fit more in, but it’s hard.
