Decant Demolition 2025 June

Hey Hey Posse, Decant Demolition 2025 June edition is a wash out. SORRY! With everything else going on I just did not get to finish even one decant.

Decant Demolition

Decant Demolition 2025 June

My Decant Demolition Challenge

For Decant Demolition 2025 I’ll be trying to drain 30ml of juice every month. In any configuration from 15 x 2ml to a 30ml decant of decanted perfume into a spray receptacle 2ml or more. They must also be finished by ME! No giving stuff away. Although Random Acts Of Kindness are encouraged they do not count for my DD2025.

Your Challenge

Play along. Use up some decants/samples/bottles. Pass those unloved extras on to others or leave them in your workplace bathroom for people to take.

Also, in the interest of driving fragrant discussion and your own thunking there must be 40 comments that are not mine. Yes, you read it correctly. 40 comments, and not lazy, spammy bumps like an OK or Got It. It must be a pertinent comment to the discussion at hand. You can answer someone else’s comment. Ask them a question about their comment. Add your own thunks, thoughts on my thunks. Tell us a story about something fragrant that links with previous comments or the post. Doesn’t even have to be directly Decant Demolition related. The secondary (but most important) goal of Decant Demolition 2025 is to reanimate perfumista conversation and engagement.

Should I make 30ml and there be 40 comments that comply. I will give away a US$50 Surrender To Chance Gift Voucher each month.

NO WINNERS! Only 34 comments from others.

June Empties

ZERO THUNKS

Well, June was a complete washout. SORRY!
I’m going to try hard this month,
Portia xx

  • Sylvia says:

I finished three small samples in the heat wave we’ve had. Mandarine sanguine, Arancia di Capri and Orange sanguine. I never seem to finish anything, so I’m quite pleased.
These were nice citrus fragrances, but not ones I love. Bitter orange fragrances seem to be the only citrus fragrances that really work for me. I own and love Bigarade concentré and would love to add Concentré d’Orange verte to my collection.

  • AnnieA says:

I only finished one sample, of Amouage Dia, and there’s only one left and then that’s that, alas. A bottle is just too insanely expensive these day

  • Meggo says:

Just one small thunk here! A 2ml sample of Naomi Goodsir’s Nuit de Bakelite. SUCH a case for sampling multiple times before buying, because it went from an all-time love to a ghastly hell to a polite cleansing product (the one I liked least lol) over the three wears. I’ve also given away 10 more bottles (not the group project, but I’m one with a personal downsizing mission) after giving away and/or losing to a bottle going off around 50 others over the last two years. Besides that, I’ve been wearing hot-weather loves!

    • Portia says:

      YAY for a thunk Megan!
WOW! Cleansing the bottles is a big deal. 10! I’m such a hoarder it takes a LOT for me to dispatch a bottle, Just In Case.
      Bet you feel alive.
      Portia xx

      • Meggo says:

I do! I definitely have the hoarder genes (like…it’s in the family LOL), but after having a completely beloved bottle go off from lack of use and finding a couple folks who loved interesting perfumes but were on very limited budgets, it was fun to share the wealth. Some of my absolutely gorgeous (but maybe not totally me) preciouses will get their wears on others, and I won’t be QUITE as likely to lose my favorites in the future. 🙂

  • Gaynor says:

It was another month of finishing very few samples, so I’ve made up for that by telling you all about them!
Slumberhouse Kiste, the last drop from a very old sample. I liked this in tiny amounts, too much and I felt as if I’d fallen in a vat of Southern Comfort.
Grace d’Orient from Angelos Créations Olfactives, I belatedly saw Portia’s question about the house last month and Sylvia’s response, which I think is spot on. The perfumes I’ve tried are complex and interesting, but also not cheap, so I was possibly not wise in getting samples from Luckyscent. Grace d’Orient has quite a strong clove note, and reminds me of the carnation in Caron’s Bellodgia. I have a bottle of Bellodgia that I bought about 15 years ago, so I’m telling myself that I don’t need Grace d’Orient as well, lovely as it is.
Spell 125 – Papillon Perfumes. I like this a lot, but I already have quite a few incense perfumes. But I’m still tempted…
Ex Nihilo – Venenum Kiss. This one doesn’t appeal to me, there’s something a little sour to my nose.

    • Portia says:

BELLODGIA! Queen of the carnations. You hardly need any other perfumes at all Gaynor. You’ve inspired me to use a drop of my Bellodgia Bath oil in my bath this evening.
Spell 125 is amazing. I get your temptation.
      Portia xx

    • Meggo says:

I LOVE what I’ve tried from Papillon and will need the check out Spell 125. I’ve gotten into incense perfumes more this year, and I’m still on the lookout for unique ones…

    • Sylvia says:

Grace d’orient is a great fragrance, isn’t it. It’s on my wishlist, but I already own quite a few carnation fragrances. So I probably won’t buy it.
Same for Spell 125. Although this one has a lovely pine note.

  • Dina C. says:

I successfully gave away 3 full bottles and 2 sampler sets along with some clothes and shoes to a gal I know whose house was destroyed by a falling tree. We’re talking small old house that was pancaked in a windstorm by a giant oak. Anyway, she was pulled from the wreckage and is thankful to be alive. No worries, Portia! I’ll look forward to your July thunks.

  • Calrayo says:

I was thinking I have no perfume-related thunks, but I DID manage to use a sheet mask a friend gave me which has lingered on my vanity for…some time. I’m on vacation, my toddler is on nap strike, but I managed to do a mask and a shower after the little guy went to bed last night. The sheet mask was…fine? It reminded me that I do not really care for sheet masks. I prefer to slather on some fun clayey mixture and let it dry in place; I kept wanting to futz with and realign the sheet mask and didn’t find it relaxing. I’m in coastal California, so the scents are sea air, fog, herby sagey aromas from the coastal scrub, dry hay fields, and a whiff of cattle.

    • Portia says:

Hey Calrayo. I buy sheet masks for everyone while in South Korea. They have some really good ones and my buddies like them. Also, they are nearly one tenth the price there.
Coastal California smells good by those notes.

  • March says:

I haven’t managed to thunk anything, but I’ve really enjoyed wearing a variety of things, including some things for test drive! I’ll probably write about a couple of them next week. We’re heading into a long weekend (tomorrow is July 4 — all the fireworks will scare the dog but I don’t mind.)

    • Portia says:

Poor dog! We have one, Jin’s Momo, that storms and fireworks really torment. My Paris couldn’t give a rats ass.
I’ll be glad to read about your test drives March.

  • alityke says:

No thunks here. Been in overwhelmed mode for weeks but today I wore two scents. Alvarez Gomez Eau Fraiche this morning & Eau Dynamisante for my hospital appointment this afternoon. Neither tenacious but perfect for wearing when my head is a shed

    • Portia says:

HA! “when my head is a shed” makes so much sense Alityke.
This is exactly how I’ve felt this last month.
Eau Dynamisante is lovely but I’ve not tried the other.

  • Tom says:

I really wonder how many people attempt to comment but give up after being marked as spam? It happens to me on two different iPads, a MacBook and now on the PC in the office. Next thing it will happen when I log in and try to post..

    • Tom says:

      And that’s just this week..

    • alityke says:

I’ve been struggle when trying to post. Cookie cache fettled & better for now.

    • Maya says:

It’s still happening to me regularly but I’m getting used to it. Once I cleared my cache and could post a few times. Another time I cleared my cache and could still not post. I always copy my comment so when I I try again I simply paste it in comments. One thing was working for a while – after I got told I was spam, I would refresh the Posse page and try again and it worked. Now it works on and off.

    • Portia says:

You may be right Tom. Good old WP glitches get us all sometimes. GRRRR!

  • Cassieflower says:

Don’t feel bad, zero thinks here too ??

  • cinnamon says:

I thanked nothing this past month. Wore a lot of Magazine Street though during our on again/off again heat waves …

  • Maya says:

I think you had some very good reasons for putting Decant Demolition on the back burner. I certainly would have. I haven’t finished anything…well maybe one or two small samples. I have been having fun playing with perfumes though.

  • Eldarwen22 says:

Thus far, I used up my Lyric body wash and the hand lotion. Using the body products probably doesn’t count but I am happy that I used it up. I finished a small bottle of vintage Bal a Versailles edp. The only decant I finished was a dabber of Miss Dior parfum.

    • Portia says:

Yes Eldarwen22, thunking body products counts as a thunk. A BIG thunk. Those things seem to last eternally.
      How bloody gorgeous is Bal?!?
      Vintage Miss Dior parfum?
      Portia xx

      • Eldarwen22 says:

I have tons more vintage BaV so using up one bottle of it isn’t such a big deal. My vintage Miss Dior was languishing in my drawer so I decided to just use it up.

  • MMKinPA says:

I barely wore perfume in June – it was super hot here, I have been spending hours on my office cleanout (which should prompt me to spray lavishly since I’m not bothering anyone else, but it’s such a part of my regular dressing routine that I forget when I’m just wearing leggings and and old tee!). I’m going to sift through and see if I have some summer decants to work through for July!

    • Portia says:

How did the Office Cleanout go MMKinPA? Because I knew there would be traffic through the office while trying to get everything done I gave mine a whirlwind tidy. It’s going to be ghastly when anything is needed again.
How lovely to be ” just wearing leggings and and old tee”. Could there be a happier or more comfortable combo? We are in the depths of winter and I’m 3 layers deep.
