Nail polish Monday: Spring at your fingertips

fingertips
Hello, all you lovely Posse folks! Hope all of you who celebrate it had a happy Easter, or if not, a beautiful, peaceful Sunday. But there’s also something else to celebrate: Winter is pretty much a done deal by now (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere), and it’s high time to break out some spring at your fingertips.

I haven’t been wearing polish much at all lately, but the other day I spied a delectable nail color on the corner of my vanity and knew I’d have to get to it. Zoya’s Julie: A prettier, more elegant lilac you’d be hard-pressed to find, and it also has a bit of sparkle, which sets it apart from some of the other lilac/lavenders out there, IMHO. And it looks good on short nails, always a blessing in my case, where some nails wind up longer than others and I struggle to get them all evened up and looking balanced.

I also have some pretty pinks and taupes that I might pull out, now that I’m getting back into the groove of painting my fingertips, and a great coral and an aqua that will be perfect on spring tootsies.

Speaking of feet, Zoya’s Julie may or may not be so terrific on the toes, depending on your skin tone. Although a lovely color, I’m wondering if it’s too soft to make much of an impact, at least on my pasty little feet. And I’m the kind of person who, if I’m going to all the trouble to get my feet done, wants to have something with some oomph to it, especially since I can’t change out colors between pedicures. But it might be fabulous on those of you with darker skin tones.

So what about you? How are you putting spring at your fingertips? Any great shades you’re already rocking or planning to wear soon? Or are you going au naturel or with a pretty French manicure?

I’m in nursing school so no nail polish for my fingers, but my toes are hopeful that it will be sandal season soon!

Right now I’m sporting a dark navy base coat covered in tons and tons of blue and green glitter. It has a bit of a space-y vibe that I like. I somehow only learned the trick of using a cheap makeup sponge to apply glitter to nails about a month ago so I’ve been a bit glitter crazy. That lavender of yours is enticing, though… maybe I’ll go for a more subdued/elegant manicure next?

Zoya has so many nice colors, I love cruising their website.

I’ve been wearing the Chanel Organdi, a pinky nude, since I splurged on it earlier this year. This new formula is good, much longer lasting than the older bottles I have. There’s a new Chanel top coat I want to get too, can’t remember what it is called now, but supposedly keeps polish looking fresh for even longer.

Oh, no, Tatiana! I hate to hear of nail woes. Could it be something dietary or a new medication that’s causing this side effect? MIne get kind of wonky sometimes, too, though, just out of the blue. Hope you find a solution soon!

That’s such a pretty color. I’ve been having problems getting my nails to grow lately. They keep splitting vertically and peeling in strange layers. I’ve been a ton of different nail and cuticle creams and oils all with very limited success. If I can get them to grow past the quick again, I definitely would polish them in that color.

Must put on nail polish tonight! I buy nice polishes and then don’t use them. I”m hopeless!

    • Ann says:

I’m that way, too! I have to make myself block out the time, and sit down and actually paint them. But the finished product is so lovely, isn’t it? I’m hoping to wear more, since my fingers are slimming down and I can wear some of the rings that haven’t fit in ages.

Don’t really get to polish my nails too often. When I do, it’s either OPI’s German or Russian collection for me. But OPI’s Do You Lilac It is fabulous.

    • Ann says:

Those are very cool OPI colors, I agree! I think you wear one of the Russian reds that I love as well. And yes, the OPI Lilac is quite lovely.

That’s a pretty color. I’ve been in the mood to wear different things, too. Usually I’m a holo girl but this spring I’ve been really wanting shimmers. For the past week I’ve been wearing one of my new Illimité polishes, Shipwrecked, and really loving it. I don’t think I’ve ever worn a polish with such a perfectly shiny finish and smooth shimmer. My other new color, The Sweetest Sin, is in the works for tonight’s polish change. My toes are currently rocking ILNP’s Night Sky.

    • Ann says:

Wow! You are really rocking those nail colors! I haven’t even heard of either of those brands, but they sound great. Enjoy!
