“Me” day Monday: How do you splurge?

shower gel splurge
I recently had that rarest of experiences, especially for a parent: A me day, a splurge day mostly all to myself. Didn’t have to go anywhere or do anything, so I asked myself, “What should I treat myself to, since it’s just me?”

I didn’t get out of my PJs, ate exactly what I wanted, and had such fun rummaging around in my various stashes and ended up pulling this and that out to poke and play. It’s like rediscovering buried treasure that you’d forgotten about.

It was a gray, rainy day, so I cranked up my own sunshine. I wound up indulging in my little sample of Carnal Flower shower gel, body cream and fragrance, and then later, as those faded, added some other happy scents into the mix: namely Diptique’s Do Son and Aerin Lauder’s Mediterranean Honeysuckle.

I curled up on the couch with one of my favorite DVDs, “Austenland,” a silly but fun romantic comedy that I got for Christmas and haven’t been able to watch. That and a lovely cup or two of green tea, a fortune cookie, and I was happy as a clam.

I must admit that I was a wee bit tempted to splurge and go treat myself to a pedicure, but decided to wait until it’s well and truly spring and warmer weather. And of course, doing so would have meant having to get dressed and leaving the house. I probably shouldn’t have shared that, as now you all will think I’m a lazy slug, but you know, sometimes, it just feels good.

What do you do when you get some time to splurge on yourself? What scents do you indulge in? What do you do to pamper yourself?

I agree with Musette; Home alone with the dog is the best! This would include a long walk with pup, quiet reading time, Home and Garden TV, favorite food for dinner, and wine. Fragrance choice would be playing with samples. If I had to go out, it would be for gym workout, and a massage or mani/pedi.

Oooh, I like your day! I like to either go window shopping if the weather is nice, and write in a nice coffeehouse with a fantastic bakery and get an eclair or three, and maybe go for a long run. If the weather’s bad, I’ll stay in and stream trashy TV and movies that no one but me likes (did anyone see the Masterpiece Theater short series on the Bronte Sisters?)

I think your day sounds absolutely marvelous!
Generally, I wear whatever perfume I want – whether at work or at home so that doesn’t change.
The rare days I’m able to be a complete slug and do as I please are few and far between – so I cherish them. I adore staying in pjs as long as possible, I love puttering around the house doing odd jobs – or not, and cuddling with my animals (dogs and cat). Some days I have the opportunity to go shopping and I absolutely love being able to wander happily, looking at and finding whatever strikes my fancy.
I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your day. All of us need a day like that from time to time. 🙂

Your plan of action sounds great: green tea, Austen and Carnal Flower! Love it all! Tea, perfume and a good book/movie is the recipe for perfect happiness. Shhhh, it’s our secret!

I LOVE days to myself, especially when the weather is gray and ornery (all too common here) and I’ve been stressed out, also common. I like to waft big billowing clouds of Shalimar on those days, or Angel Muse or Habanita, heavy hitters in quantities I’d never wear out in public. Snuggling with the cat, old movies, toast and jam, those rare days are rejuvenating.

  • I love the francis perfumes..it is expensive but use for long time…
    Superb article..
    Thanks for sharing with us.

That sounds like a lovely day! Sometimes bad weather is the perfect excuse to really take it easy and stay cozy at home. I love couch days snuggling with the dog, reading, and taking as many naps without feeling guilty about it 🙂

I plan my ‘me time’ strategically – if El O is here, I’m gone. If he’s gone I haz a GRAND time, just me and The Girl, hanging out here. Music BLASTING, then a good (or trashy) film. Or total quiet and just a good read. Like you, something I really want to eat and maybe a glass of wine. Mostly just that wonderful feeling of having no other energy around. Dogs Don’t Count for energy as they are one with nature and totally fabulous ALLADETIME!

and…Carnal Flower? FADED? In the course of a day? Are you SURE? 😉 xooxox

I’m still trying to imagine CF fading after using the shower gel, body butter AND fragrance, LOL! Sounds like a lovely day! Mine is usually walking around Roger’s Gardens or Fashion Island (my OC Happy Places). Of course, staying in jammies during a drizzly weekend is awesome too!

I love lying around in my PJs all day and spritzing random things on myself. Lots of reading, cups of tea and cuddles with the dogs. 🙂

But sometimes a me day is going out and visiting shops I don’t get to very often and wandering around spritzing things and fondling the merchandise, as my mother calls it.
