Happy Holidays, oooh! oooh!

Wishing you all a wonderful Holiday season, however you celebrate!  And how are you celebrating?  We’re planning a quiet day, with a lovely breakfast with ham from the lovely pigs up the road and from-scratch buttermilk waffles (made with FULL FAT buttermilk because why not & that’s pretty much it for me in the planning dept. A dog walk or two and maybe watching Denzel Washington kill scores of baddies in Equalizer (and Equalizer 2) because why not!  Or maybe I’ll do a 180 and watch Greer Garson & Laurence Olivier in Pride and Prejudice.  I’ve got the house scented with Aera’s gorgeous Winter Light, from the 2018 Hygge collection – it’s bringing a bit of the Winter outdoors in, a bit of a Musette Oxymoron (or maybe just a Musette Moron?)  – but who doesn’t love the smell of fresh fir trees and cedar, right?  But it’s better than that Old Reliable white pine seasonal candle.  I thought it was just going to be a diffuser version of that, but I was happily surprised to find a bit of warmth underneath all the fir – it’s elusive but that makes it all the more inviting, as if you’re sitting in your warm, cozy living room…and a beloved suddenly comes in from the chilly outdoors with an armful of evergreens.  Oh!  You’ve got hot chocolate, with a touch of cinnamon, waiting (no chocolate notes – this is just my part of the fantasy).

The house smells marvelous!  Maybe I’ll just sit here and sniff at it and contemplate – again- learning to speak DANISH! so I can go hang out with Claus Dalby.
