Fruity Monday: Pineapple, anyone?

Lauren by Ralph lauren perfume pineappleHello, dear Posse folks! Hope your May is going well so far. At my house, we are deep into hs senior/college readiness mode, getting ready right now for our church’s Senior Night, where they honor the upcoming graduates. Anyoo, on a recent trip to Kroger, my eye alighted on bottles of Sparkling Ice in pineapple/coconut flavor (virgin pina colada for one, please!), to stock up for an upcoming beach trip. So pineapple has been on my radar.

I don’t have much pineapple, fragrance-wise, save for Worth’s Courtesan, with its fruity, sexy, old-school vibe. Oh,but wait — I forgot about the classic original Lauren by Ralph Lauren, and the gorgeous, but lesser-known Byblos (all three are available at Surrender to Chance, I was happy to see). Well, guess I have more than I thought!

On a trip to Neiman Marcus awhile back, I did sniff the Memo Paris fragance called Tamarindo. Rich, heady and sweet (but not too much) with pineapple, jasmine, vanilla, patchouli and benzoin. Boy, was it nice! I snagged a sample of it, but that’s probably all I’ll be able to swing for a while.

I just noticed that STC carries Demeter’s Spicy Pineapple Salsa and Smell Bent’s Ice Station Pineapple, so I’ll definitely be checking them out soon.

What about you — any favorites of yours with a pineapple twist? Or what else is making your nose happy right now?

Well my pineapple favourite is also from the eighties – Armani by Giorgio Armani. The fact is, I cannot really smell pineapple in it but it’s supposed to be in the top notes and they are probably long gone from my old bottle.

  • Musette says:

Lol! I had NO idea either Worth Courtesan (one of March’s faves) or my old standby-from-the-Jurassic Era, Lauren, had pineapple in them! Apparently I need to pay better attention!

I had no idea that Lauren has a pineapple note in it! I wore that for years and loved it back in college. I’ll have to get out my sample from STC and test it out.

To me, Agonist Isis is all about pineapple milkshakes and one of the Histories de Parfums (don’t know the number and too lazy to go look in the husband’s cabinet, but it’s the Jules Verne one) is nutmeg and pineapple.

I think Frederic Malle’s Music for a While has a pineapple note? But that hasn’t been a note I’ve explored!

  • Brigitte says:

Lauren, Byblos and Bill Blass were my favorite pineapples years ago. Midnight Fleur also has a great pineapple note as does the new LE Escada ….Miami something… I have a sample of the Memo….will have to test it.

  • Queen Cupcake says:

Lauren was my first big-girl perfume. Bought with my own money, worn to the delight of many gentlemen admirers. I never really thought about the pineapple note–to me, it was always a perfectly blended and grownup fruity floral. Still have some of the original! I don’t wear it a lot, as it has become a nostalgic fragrance for me: disco nights… I never knew Byblos so I guess I will have to try it!
