Is Summer Done Yet? Maison Lancome thingies? Wha’?

Sorry, I have been gone so long, but I have reasons!  And I miss you guys.

First, one of my Frenchies hurt her back, so she was on crate rest for 8 weeks, just finishing it up and returning gradually to doggo normal.  Had to carry her up and down the stairs, keep her companioned up with me when she was lonely, but limit her jumping, etc.  Finally getting to enjoy summer.

You know what I am without?  My normal summer perfume, Hermessence Osmanthe Yunnan.  I don’t have any!  Or at least I haven’t found it.

So i just can’t seem to want anything new. I do want to try the new Le Labo City Exclusive from Miami.  Then March and Musette showed up here and started raving about the Maison Lancome things they sniffed. Er, what?  I heard about them, promptly dismissed them, but there are some great ones in the bunch according to them. Soooo I needs to try them.  The tuberose one, the rose parfait thing, the Marzipan one and maybe that new iris one? They didn’t think they they smelled that one. Usually both have something to say about an iris scent, so I think they missed it too.

Has anyone else tried these?  How hard do I need to work to try them and all or just some?  I find myself obsessing about them, which means!!!  My perfume love is coming back.  I am happy.

How is your summer going?  I’ve finally gotten pool time, relax time, enjoy the doggos time, so I am satisified!

Welcome back, Patty! My summer has largely been awful (major surgery for me, death in the family, etc.) But I’m looking forward to trying some new scents and finding some level of normal amidst upcoming months of physical therapy.
Hmm, that’s a good question – what scent does one wear to physical therapy?

  • Musette says:

omgosh!!! SO much fun, with those little lunatic doggos! And your Glamazon pool! Give Lou a smooch for me. I’ve got to do a Dedicated Sniff on the Lancomes – have that planned for my next Chicago trip. I remember PrettyPrettyPretty – but that’s about it, now.

    xoxoxo

It was, I loved having you guys here. I’m not anywhere near sniffing these. But I’ll get my hands on some of these!!

So glad to hear your interest in new perfume is sparked again Patty. Does that mean you have been wearing old favorites or just no perfume at all? Poor Frenchie baby, I hope on the mend now. I can relate, I’ve had a post-op pup under activity restrictions for far too long.
I have Lancome Iris Dragees and am also underwhelmed by it. It is a pretty sweet iris scent, but very poor performance. I’ve also sampled Jasmins Marzipane. It was nice but not memorable.
I’m interested in hearing other’s thoughts about any of the Maison Lancome collection.
    Enjoy your summer!

I’ve been wearing some old faves – Serge De Profundis, which wears better in summer than I rememberd, Iris Silver Mist, a couple of Le Labos, Vanille 44 and Poivre. I started going through my room with all my perfume bottles that are leftovers from the move. Most STC stuff went to Lisa’s place so it’s in one place, but I have bins full of things that are mine or we aren’t replenishing but have partial bottles. It is ridiculous, and I really need to get rid of a bunch of them – most!

What happened to your pupper, if I can ask? It is so hard, but mostly on me. Anya is a super active dog, but she really just adapted, mostly because it hurt to do too much, and by the time she was feeling better, she accepted the new normal. Did not love it. Now she’s on semi unrestricted, with a watchful eye, looking for any signs of a flare-up so I can give her shorter confinement and rest so it doesn’t go completely south, per the neurologist’s orders. I’m hoping she’ll be okay. Luckily, Frenchies are pretty lazy and have like 10 minutes of frenetic activity followed by a solid 4 hour nap or bone chewing. She wound up kind of liking it because she gets all the special things when she is restricted to the kitchen, has a bed all to her self, all the bully sticks and yak cheese chews she wants. She waits at the gate now, wanting back in to have snacks. 🙂

    Hey Patty! Welcome back.
I was hoping for some summer in your yard pictures at the new house.
Poor doggo! and you being taped to its side while recovering.

YAY for your frag mojo coming back. So nice to see you here,
    Portia xxx

I have Jasmins Marzipane, Tubereuse Castanes, Parfait de Roses, Roses Berberanza and Lavandes Trianon. I was underwhelmed by Iris Dragees but want to try it again as theoretically it should be right up my alley. There is also a new Patchouli one I desperately want to try, but no one in Montreal carries the line so I have to wait until I get back to California in October to try it, our Nordstroms there has it.

I plan to order Benjoin 19 in September (by phone) for the city exclusives event, but I’m very interested in the Miami tobacco one, unfortunately no way to try it since Luckyscent stopped participating in the exclusives yearly event. 🙁 So maybe next year, if they include a sample of it with my Benjoin bottle (which I also won’t have until October).

Hope your puppy is all better now!

    • Patty says:

That is MY list, Tara, that I want to try!

Oranges Bigarades, Tubereuse Castanes, Jasmines Marzipanes are all addictive and gorgeous. When I presented to my Luckyscent friends these are the ones they picked out in addition to Lavandes Trianon. Creative high quality fragrances. I also like Lavandes Trianons and Roses Berberanza because they last all day and deliver on the yummy part of the scent. Oud Ambroisie is a guilty pleasure. They are easy to wear. Very worth trying out.
