Happy Hour Zoom Workshop June 5

Hi, March again.  Yesterday was fun, wasn’t it?

While we stumble along, trying to figure out what the new normal is, or really any kind of normal at all, this invitation in this morning’s email caught my eye – a perfume Zoom happy hour around a fragrance sample set you ordered ahead of time?!

I’m sure the ongoing business closure is brutal to smaller shops, Arielle Shoshana among them.  (Arielle has amused and intrigued me regularly with her clever shop emails; consider signing up.)  Anyway, I thought, this is genius— something new and different that allows perfumistas to gather and have a little fun.  So I asked Patty if I could have her slot today to post this.

I’m not affiliated with the shop, and I am getting absolutely nothing out of this except the pleasure of knowing that maybe some of y’all will join the fun; I’m certainly planning to.

I’m pasting the info below, more or less verbatim, and here’s the link to the Eventbrite registration page.

Cheers.

Please join us for a happy hour-inspired sniff-a-long! Learn how perfumers capture absinthe, tea, and Coca-Cola in our first Zoom workshop.

(Note from March: register soon so you can get your sample set in time)

About this Event

AP News reports that U.S. alcohol sales are up 55% since the coronavirus crisis began. In that spirit (get it? Alcohol joke!), Arielle Shoshana proudly presents our first Zoom Workshop! Please join us for a happy hour that involves our drinking caps and our thinking caps.

What does it mean when a fragrance’s notes list includes a “tea note” or a “champagne accord”? Did the perfumers crack open a bottle of Veuve Cliquot and pour it in? Did they put the lime in the coconut and mix it all up? Discover how perfumers create the illusion of everything from absinthe to Coca-Cola in our favorite fragrances.

Your $12 ticket price includes a sample set of five fragrances we’ll explore during our happy hour (a sniff-a-long, if you will!). Please choose between:

The Alcoholic Sample Set Ticket, which highlights rum, gin, bourbon, and absinthe notes. Sample set contains five 1 ml handmade samples of Imaginary Authors Saint Julep, Carner Barcelona Palo Santo, Olfactive Studio Still Life, Lubin Gin Fizz, and Carner Barcelona El Born.

or:

The Non-Alcoholic Sample Set Ticket, which highlights tea, coffee, and soda notes. Sample set contains five 1 ml handmade samples of Régime des Fleurs Cacti, Memo Paris Winter Palace, Floraïku The Moon And I, A Lab On Fire Paris*LA, and Arielle Shoshana Sunday.

Your sample set will be mailed to the shipping address you enter when you place your ticket order. We will ship your sample set within one business day of receiving your event registration.

I signed up! I’m getting the non alcoholic samples. Nothing against drinking alcohol lol. I’m on her mailing list but forgot to sign up on Tuesday. Thanks for the reminder!

ARGH! I love Arielle so much. Totally bummer I can’t be a part of the magic.
She’ll be such a perfect host, so knowledgeable, clever and (let’s face it) adorable.

March, this event sounds like fun! I bought my ticket and chose the alcoholic set. I live in driving distance from Arielle Shoshana perfume shop (lucky me!), and they host interesting events all year round. Looking forward to this one.
