Well leave it to me to write about a Spring duo when it’s almost summer and a weekend (I am writing this on Mother’s Day while dog sitting) with temps well into the 90’s. Well better late than never, say I.
As you’re I’m sure aware, Sarah Horowitz-Thran is an LA based perfumer who works out of her Thousand Oaks perfumery. I have been a fan for years and last year visited her place, though sadly managed to miss actually seeing her. In any case I do love her lovely, fun, and inexpensive seasonal perfume duos. and since I needed a little seasonal lift I sent off for the newest: Perfect Nectar and Super Bloom. I tried them apart and together, since that’s the idea,,
Perfect Nectar has listed mango, papaya and citrus but I swear I smell something like clove in there and something salty like skin musk as well as some white flowers. I am not a big fruit-in-perfume person, especially when it’s front and center like it is here. But I will write that it’s very well done in an almost Patou kind of way. Patou but stripped down. And being an oil it stays close to the skin so you have to lean in to smell it. I would imagine this would get a lot of people leaning in.
Super Bloom is however right up my alley. The name refers to a California phenomenon that occurs after a winter of heavy rains, where there will be beyond a profusion unto a profligacy of wildflowers blooming. So much so that they are sometimes so dense with flowers and so large that they can be seen from space. Sarah captures the scent with notes of narcissus, honeysuckle, and jasmine over green leaves and grass. I am a sucker for this sort of thing and was immediately in thrall- so much so that I hope she makes it a full-timer in the line.
And you know what? They are even better layered.
Have you tried any of these? Sound like they’re up your alley? Let us know in the comments.
Perfect Nectar/Super Bloom is available as a set of two 7ML oils for $42, at her website. I purchased mine there.

Sarah Horowitz creates some amazing perfumes. I resist fruit in perfumes but have sniffed some that I like. I think that I could like this duo. The fruit sounds good and the flowers sound amazing. I have seen some fantastic photos of the super bloom. Amazing! Wish I had seen one in person.
I remember meeting Sarah on the ScentSation Bus Tour Tom. She was so effervescent.
Super Bloom is a fab name and one day I’d love to see the real thing. How often does it happen?
