Hey friends – I just spent a week in Charleston SC with kiddos. I rented an AirBnB; they escaped their frozen hellscapes, yay! Home to broken heat and hot water again (boo!) and I hope it doesn’t take him three weeks to fix it this time. Pro tip: if you’re thinking about installing the ultra-efficient Navien system, don’t. It is fabulous when it works, but when it breaks you are SOL. You have to find a specialist, they have to diagnose, order parts etc.
Anyhoo, here’s a quick couple of tea scents, I’m drinking a lot of hot beverages to keep warm.
Molecule 01 + Black Tea – remember when Molecule came out and everyone (well, some folks) got annoyed cuz they just bottled Iso E Super and sold it? I thought it smelled nice but never bought any. This is “plus tea,” notes are black tea extract, Iso E Super, Mate absolute. I’m enchanted, because the tea really sticks around on me! Tea scents (if they’re plain black tea and not, say, Earl Gray) are notoriously evanescent, with reapplication needed frequently. This hung around as tea, just plain black tea with the Iso E Super special sauce in the background, through the entire day and I could still smell it when I went to bed. Great, easy, unchallenging tea scent.
J-Scent Roasted Green Tea — cedarwood, clover, coconut, iris, jasmine, mint, peanut, vanilla, wintergreen. LuckyScent says “Featuring a quality Hojicha tea, known for its fine aroma of roasted tea leaves when brewed.” This is another unchallenging, pretty skin scent that (as you can tell from the notes listed) is much more complex than the Molecule. I definitely get the hit of hojicha at the beginning, but at least on me that fades (or I become anosmic) pretty quickly. Then I get regular whiffs of grass, or mint, or coconut, or peanut, over the course of several hours which honestly is fun. If that idea appeals to you it’s worth a try, but I wouldn’t buy this as a tea scent.
What are your favorite teas, for drinking and/or perfume? I really miss the fabulous Speziali Fiorentini Tè Nero which was cheap as chips and which they discontinued, naturally.

My favorite tea is Earl Grey, followed by English Breakfast. Both hot, with milk. Eau de Fier by Annick Goutal was one of my favorite tea scents (and I have a bottle secreted away somewhere) and I miss that one.
I love good old English Breakfast, also with milk. I also love that AG! We need MORE tea scents!
Glad you and the kids had a break together March.
LOVE a tea scent, particularly T42 and Green Tea Mimosa.
No heart is crap. Good luck,
Portia xx
Tea for Two, WHAT a classic. Yes, it was so fun to see them! I’d love to see more of them, but they all work and I’m on the other side of the US. Luring them down to a rental in the South in Feb/March seems like a solid plan 😀
I drink good ol’ builders black tea, infused for 7 mins with just a splash of milk. Hibiscus tea is delicious & when I can get it, rosehip tea, that’s similar.
Tea scents? EA Green Tea & a number of flankers are summer regulars & Green Tea body wash is always in my bathroom.
Other than that I have Keirin Sunday Brunch & Hermesscence Osmanthus Yunnan.
What is Constant Comment tea?
Constant Comment is an orange-spice black tea, smells like you’d think. I’m not a fan of the taste (although clearly a lot of folks are!) although I do think it smells delicious. I drink Yorkshire tea, does that count as builders? Also w a splash of milk.
Constant Comment is a tea that I really don’t care for. Something about the black tea/orange rind thing. Not for me.
it’s like drinking a pomander ball
FIENDS!!!!!
You BLASPHEME!
😀
Yorkshire Tea the most builders of all builders tea when left for the requisite 7 mins steeping time
I enjoy tea scents which is no wonder since I drink it every day. Green Sencha tea is my daily brew, and I’ve had other kinds of green tea as well. I grew up drinking black tea. Also love Constant Comment, Raspberry Zinger, Jasmine, Lotus, and other flavors of teas.
For tea scents, I like Vilhelm Dear Polly, Bulgari Eau Parfumee au The’ Rouge, and The’ Vert, Arielle Shoshana Monday, and AG L’Ile au The’. There’s probably more I’m forgetting. I haven’t tried either of these ones you reviewed. I hope I have a chance to sniff them and give them a test. They sound interesting and cool.
You ARE a tea gal! I know I’ve mentioned recently that we’re drinking more tea, but coffee is my main drug of choice lol. LOVE those Bulgaris. And the AG although it lasts about 10 minutes on me.
Feh on your heating issues. So not good. I hope it gets sorted soon. Has the landlord said anything useful (like I’m going to replace the heating system in the spring)?
Tea… I am ever on the hunt for a good black tea scent. Will try the Molecule one. I blind bought a Diptyque tea candle a number of years ago and it smelled like soap. It seems like tea is a hard note to get right .
Tea for drinking … I like things that taste like hay. Mint is good and I’m currently big into Hojicha green tea which is lower in caffeine.
Well he just spent 4 – 5K on it in December so I think he’ll be going with “fix it” (the bulk of it is now brand new.). Ooooh definitely try the Molecule then! You and I aren’t scent twins but maybe it’ll work on you.
I’m so sorry about the heat and hot water situation! At least you got to go to SC and enjoy yourself with the kids.
I’m with those that cannot smell ISO E Super which I discovered when I tried Molecule 01, so Molecule 01 is a big no regardless of what is added. The J-Scent might be worth a try though. Tea perfumes never interested me much and for drinking, I alternate between black, green, and white. lol. I do sometimes get Dragon Herbs Longevity Tea from iHerb. It’s a different kind of taste but I like it. They say it invigorates you in the morning and relaxes you at bedtime. Strange but true.
Huh, that’s interesting about Dragon Herbs, never heard of it. I forgot about the fact that a bunch of people can’t even smell Iso E Super so yeah, sounds like a pass!
Constant Comment to drink and Agraria Bitter Orange to wear!
I’m so happy you all had such a great time!!!!!
I had Bitter Orange and used it up, I should get some more. Constant Comment … um, no, although it does smell wonderful.
oh and add my two cents about the heat. We had the heat and hot water go out in out place in NYC. the whole of the month of February. Brutal. Heat is a good thing.
My daughter had the AC go out and she’s on the top floor of her building, that was kind of rough. But yours sounds worse!
I like it iced, lightly sweetened and with a lot of ice and orange slices
Actually, I think I might like it served that way!
