St. Patrick’s Day!

Yes, it’s St. Patrick’s Day here (and may be where you are) and some parts of the country go a little hog-wild over it. Perhaps because it’s the first hint of spring. Or all that green beer.

My Irish Eye (the other one’s English)

Even when I imbibed there were certain holidays I just stay home: New Years, Halloween, and Pride come to mind. St. Patrick’s Day isn’t one that seems to be a big one here; we have the LA River but it’s not guaranteed to be running enough to make dying it green worthwhile.

So the green beer is out. I love corned beef, but more the kind I get at the Jewish deli than the one dear old mom used to boil. (Heresy, I know) I am thinking of what green scents I have around that I could break out. I know Ninfeo Mio is in there somewhere? Bandit? Have I got a decant of Vent Vert?

And what about you? Letting your inner Irishman out? Let us know in the comments.

I’m in the midst of More Reno so… mostly drywall dust.

I’d love some good smoked brisket, though. Low and slow.

    Hey Tom,
St Patrick’s Day was Mum’s birthday. This year she would have been 90! So it’s always held a special place in my heart. Also why green is my favourite colour.
Wore a green outfit to host trivia but did not wear a green scent.
    Portia xx

Despite my Irish heritage & Irish eyes, sadly mine are a darker hue than yours but still two distinct colours, I have never celebrated Paddy’s Day. Maybe cos I married a Welshman? There again we don’t celebrate St David’s Day either.
Just the idea of green Guinness makes me nauseous.
I have a travel size of Ninfeo Mio but can’t find it. Silences is in the big heavy drawer & whilst sunny it’s still too cold for Eau de Campagne.

St Paddy’s was an excuse for the Younger Set (get off my lawn!) to get absolutely TRASHED in the DC area, the vomit situation next day on my commute… yikes. Thrilled tbh to live in a place where it passed by totally off the radar, although Cinco de Mayo gets pretty wild here lol. My green Irish eyes salute you.

I remember when I lived in Milwaukee seeing a young man Linda Blairing a load of green beer at 11am and just said “NO”

I wore Vent Vert yesterday in celebration, Tom, as well as a green cardigan and some jade and malachite jewelry. That’s what I consider going whole hog! I don’t think I’ve ever gone out on St. Paddy’s. I cooked a deconstructed shepherd’s pie for dinner. That’s kinda Irish. In school we used to sing The Irish Blessing acapella at the end of every concert. “May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. The sun sun shine warm upon your face. The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”

Not one of my holidays — and when I worked in NYC on St P’s day I would try to go home early, before all the drinkers who had been on the parade started to wander the streets of midtown.

Green scents … Well, I own Ninfeo Meo and adore it for warmer weather, which is not quite here yet. Sun’s out though!

That is a marvelous eye color you have! Amazing. But if you sing “When Irish eyes are smiling”, does the English one get annoyed or smile along too?
Nothing special today. I do have a soft spot for the wild and crazy Irish though. Wore my emerald green sweat pants. Had 2 very nasty cold days and today it’s supposed to be close to 70F so that’s nice!
