Yesterday at PST I whined about the heat and nattered on about scents that were good in it. It is still hot here in the Southland, (but thankfully not humid) but my ability to whine is not in any way affected by the fact that I am not really very much affected by the facts.
But looking at the review on PST if French Lover I was reminded of Miller Harris, one of which was in the linked review. I think that Miller Harris is brilliant and has several scents that I adore and deeply miss, since they seem to have exited the US. They used to be a staple at Sak’s, even having a Sak’s exclusive, the delicious Fleurs de Sel as well as the polarizing (I adored it) Jane Birkin L’air de Rien.
I wonder what the he)) happened with this line? One day they were at Sak’s, then they were at Bloomingdales then they weren’t available in the US? It can’t be about quality, since there’s still a ubiquitous bully selling forgettable scents still at Sak’s (at least last time I checked.)
I was happy to get my last bottle of L’air de Rien on the cheap. but can’t someone get this line over here? Any Miller Harris lovers out there on the internets? Leave a comment..

I love Rose En Noir by Miller Harris, finally scored a fb online. I already have some lovely dark roses but I love this one’s fluctuations between silky femme petals & edgy resinous depth! That’s the only MH I like so far, still need to try Geranium Bourbon tho.
I really like Fleurs de Sel and am glad I snagged a bottle while was able! I also think that Geranium Bourbon is a great scent.
There seems to be a lot of it on Amazon.
Really enjoy Coeur d’Ete and the tangerine one, which I got years ago at Saks. Looks like they’re limiting their retail to Europe–it’s a British co. I do see that the site OZ Cosmetics (from which I’ve never ordered) carries a few of their scents.
Fragrancenet dawt com has a few left. I grabbed a Coeur d’Ete for myself since I missed out on the Lucky Scent clearout and have an occasional yen for that scent.
of all the strange places, i have seen Miller Harris from time to time (never thought to try to get any of it) on Listia. Listia is a kind of ebay without money… it’s run off credits… blagh blagh i don’t work for them. *laugh*
L’Air de Rien is one of the few perfumes I’ve bought a backup bottle of, because I’d heard a rumor MH would no longer be available in the US. I liked several of the others and I’m sorry now I didn’t get Fleurs de Sel while I had the chance. (Fleurs de Sel would probably be a great one to wear in the heat.)
my Mart friends, Creative Visions, used to carry Miller Harris – I got Citron Citron when they were phasing it out. I’ll give them a call to see what happened with the line. xoxoxo
I’ve never ever have seen Miller Harris offerings in any of my local department stores let alone any kind of niche perfume at the local department stores. But there is a place that’s only 20 minutes from my house that sells the Malle perfumes. L’Air de Rien was my first Miller Harris that I’ve tried and I literally recoiled when I first smelled it. It smelled like soiled panties and someone hadn’t washed and decided to wear them out of the house. I’m still traumitized by it.
Got Coeur d’Ete last year when Luckyscent had it on clearance, and I know MIN doesn’t carry them anymore. Can’t help.
Thank goodness I snapped up Fleurs de Sel when I was in England last year. Think I wil wear it today.
I saw them in MiN a long time ago, but not the last time I was there. A shame, because I’m deeply attached to L’Air de Rien and want to try a lot of the others. L’Air de Rien was my first ‘perfumista’ perfume.
You know, I haven’t seen them here for several years. Dillards used to carry them, but sadly cleared them out several years ago (they also phased out Annick Goutal that same time). I always enjoyed those MH’a. Sadly, after a discussion with a SA, I have concluded niche doesn’t sell well here in Nashville, Creed being the exception (go figure). .
I’ve never seen them in stores near me. I order online and even then the selection has been limited. It doesn’t seem like the best business model really.
I can’t even find most of them in Australia Tom.
Are they going out of business?
Portia xx
I’m glad I’m not the only one that is not severely affected by facts, for whining purposes or otherwise. I have Fleur Oriental by MH that is an over the top oriental. Applied sparingly, when I’m in the right mood, it’s lovely. I enjoy your posts Tom..
Cheers!
