Beach dreaming Monday: What takes you away?

beach omfort zone road trip beachOK, everyone — I think most of us (at least here in the Northern Hemisphere) have had enough of winter and we’re hanging on, week to week, as spring creeps ever closer. So let’s take a mental vacation, why don’t we, and transport ourselves elsewhere in our minds via a little beach dreaming. What scents do you wear to conjure up a warm, sunny beach to help you plod through the often dreary, bone-chillingly cold days of February and March?

One fragrance that transports me to the beach of my choice — probably somewhere in Hawaii — is Kai. It’s not complicated, but that’s the beauty of it: its blend of white flowers, gardenia and green goodness just plain makes me feel good, warm and happy to be alive. Guerlain’s Lys Soleia also fills the bill, although I’m pretty sure it’s been discontinued. Guess I’ll enjoy my little scrap of it until it’s gone.

And I would be remiss not to mention Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess, which comes in a nice array of auxiliary products. I’ve heard several folks rave about its shimmering body oil spray. Another obvious choice would be Bobbi Brown’s Beach scent. It does broadcast its sunscreen vibe pretty obviously, but it is such a fun, evocative scent. And it’s nice that it comes in body lotion and a rollerball, too, I think.

So please do share the fragrances that send you to your choice of sun, sand, and surf, and are helping you cope with winter. Or whatever else helps you keep your sanity until spring arrives.

So many wonderful summer reminiscent fragrances Ann,
Annick Goutal Songes, 34 by Diptyque, Nuxe, Neela Vermeire Creations Pichola and Guerlain Mahora are just a few of my faves.
    Portia xx

A beach is OK….but when I’m longing for warmth my mind goes directly to the red rock places in Utah, Arizona.
I wear “beachy” and “desert” perfumes in the winter. I adore Dune, Salvador Dali Laguna, Hermes Eau de Merveilles, CK Reveal, Paco Rabanne Olympea, Balmain Ambre Gris.

  • Matty says:

    Guerlain Terracotta.

  • March says:

Bronze Goddess ABSOLUTELY. I am soooo ready for spring! xo

  • After this horrible Snowmageddon ‘19 I’m damn near ready to chuck the PacNW and move to Kauai! Instead I sprayed on Ajmal new-ish and inexpensive Hawaiian Breeze. Shocks me how much I love it but for $40. it smells just as good as jus that’s 4X the price!

I was just thinking about this last night (for REALZ) but decided to go to India instead of Mexico. Trayee is, along with Bombay Bling, the ultimate HOT weather evocateur (obvs boogered that word up, oh well) – if I’m staying local, I would have to say Coty Sand & Sable – Old School, but oh, so Beach Boys beachy. ELBG is another one – in the dead of Winter, I think you can’t have enough suntan lotion! 😉

Un Jardin en Mediterranee and Guerlain’s Vetiver pour Elle make me think wistfully of warn weather.

-9 this morning where I live. For beach dreaming, it is hard to beat anything from Escada. Today I am going with Agua del Sol.

  • Kathleen Smith says:

I dream more of the Arizona desert landscape and warmth versus beaches during this long cold winter.
Chanel 1932 and Chanel Gardenia make me feel the warmth and freshness of spring.

I’m the same — not a beach person (despite growing up in NC), but the Utah desert is my happy place. I wear green scents when I’m hoping for spring, like vintage Vent Vert.

  • Brigitte says:

Right now it’s Paramela and Un Air de Bretagne that take me away. Will be happy when winter is over.

  • Tara C says:

I like Guerlain Terracotta and Parfums MDCI Nuit Andalouse, as well as Atelier Cologne Blanche Immortelle for hot summer days.

  • Maggiecat says:

I’m digging out (and searching for more) my Jasmine scents, like Ineke Poets Jasmine

  • Maya says:

I am very tired of winter, so tropical beaches sound heavenly. White florals bring me to warm and beautiful places. My two favorite jasmins – Areej Le Dore Indolis and Frassai Verano Porteño take me there as do my two favorite tuberoses – HG Moon Bloom and Aquiste Flor y Canto. For lush tropical nights I will go with Arquiste Ella and Tom Ford Noir de Noir. What fun!

  • Rosemary says:

So funny you posted about this: I’m sitting here in Akumal, Mexico, which is the perfect cure to winter blahs! I wore ELDO Putains de Palaces and SL Rose de Noir, neither of which may be summery beach, but both of which I’ve loved here 🙂 Blessings to you all, spring is on it’s way;)

I love akumal. I’m at the beach in the Gulf of Mexico also but in Florida. Tried Bermuda Lyme by DSH. Love it.
