Bon Voyage! Taking L’Artisan Seville a l’Aube with me!

Hey, tomorrow morning I’m taking off for Alaska for a week with my mom and two sons, it’s a gift for my mom’s 75th birthday.  Sweltering here, it’s hard to imagine that in a day or two we are going to be plunged into rainy 40s, 50s and 60s. But I am so looking forward to a break from the heat.

And what perfume do you think I’m tucking a whole bottle of in my suitcase?  L’Artisan Seville a l’Aube, you silly gooses.  From clutching that first little piece of scented paper Denyse gave to me in Paris last November to bogarting that teeny vial for the last few months, to now spraying with wild abandon from my own damn bottle.  Can you tell I’m stoked?  I do have to give a brief disclaimer like Robin did.  I’ve known Denyse for several years, and I always look her up when I’m in Paris, and I would have never said anything bad about this scent.  I would have just done what I do with the other 7,000 fragrances released every year that don’t inspire me enough to write about them, just not say anything.

I adore this, it is liquid sunshine. And as it sits on your skin, it just seems to sun warm it more and kiss it with lovely, lovely orange blossom.  This isn’r a an indolic orange blossom, it doesn’t feel smutty at all, it feels warm and languid and sensuous, warming everything it touches with its happy warmth.

That I’m a

Big Ole Orange Blossom ‘Ho

is an indicator that unless the ground up duck feet and put it in orange blossom, I’m going to at a minimum like it.  This goes so far beyond that, I can’t even say.  I’ve been wearing it nonstop, spritzing myself before I go to bed just so I can smell it when I get up.  Hmmm, I should spray my sheets with it!  If you aren’t down with The Orange Blossom, then you can just skip on past this review, not buy L’Artisan Seville a l’Aube – leaving more for me to scoop up because that Limited Edition thing is concerning – and wait for one of those new Tom Ford Tribbles that are popping up in September or October.  L’Artisan Seville a l’Aube has released now in Europe and will be here in September

We do have some winners from last week!  Amy Bella, RVB, Cheesegan and Occhineri.  Click on the Contact us above and send me your address and remind me what you’ve won, and I’ll get it out to you, but not until next week when I’m back.

Next week I’ll treat you all to some Alaska pictures.  Bon voyage, y’all!  xoxo

This fragrance sounds like joy in a bottle, Patty.

Have a great time with your mom and sons this week!

    Hugs

Patty, “bogarting” is EXACTLY the term I’ve used to describe what I’ve been doing with my precious sample. My LuckyScent preorder is already in, and I cannot wait to spritz with abandon!

It sounds like a super trip, and how wonderful to have this very special perfume to remember it by. Bon voyage!!!

Hi Patty, Have fun on your trip. We just go tback from an Alaskan cruise and had a great time. Do pack some warmer weather clothes. We had some very nice sunny days where it was 75-80 degrees when we were on shore (count on rain in Ketchikan–a small folding travel umbrella and some Scotchguard on a jacket with a hood go a long way). Can’t wait for Barney’s to get Seville!

    • Sapphire says:

Oh, and if you cruise into College Fjord where there are lots of gorgeous glaciers, make sure to stop what you are doing and go take pictures when you are all the way into the fjord. I was a dope and sat through dinner (we had an assigned time in the dining room that coincided with the glaciers) and didn’t get to take pictures until we were starting to sail back out and weren’t so close.

  • Ok, can’t help chiming in… So happy you love Séville à l’aube, Patty — but then you fell in love with it at first sniff, didn’t you?
For those who don’t feel orange blossom plays nice with them: that’s just the way I feel most of the time. I’m not confortable wearing the type of OB that goes soapy on my skin, so that’s really something we tried to avoid here (after all, if a quote unquote muse can’t have her say, what’s the point?). And it think we’ve pulled it off…

Have a wonderful time in Alaska Patty, and hug those sons of yours for me! And happy birthday to your mom.

Have a wonderful trip to Alaska, Patty. That one’s on my bucket list for sure.
I’m encouraged by the mini reviews of others who don’t do so well with OB. Perfumes with dominant OB seem to get screechy on me if that makes sense.

Where in Alaska will you be going? Will you make it to Anchorage? At the moment, it is absolutely gorgeous and warm here (but not by lower 48 standards). In fact, I’m kicking myself that I didn’t ride my bicycle to work today. There’s nothing like the fresh morning air in one’s air and a nice perfume to start the day.

That L’Artisan sounds like one I want to try. . . as I’m another fan of OB.

How cool that you get to be going to Alaska. My parents went on a two week cruise to Alaska about 3 years ago and they loved it. One thing that I hate about traveling or even going to see relatives and maybe spending the night is trying to decide on what perfume(s) to pack. ‘Cause I don’t know if I’m going to want to wear something that I didn’t pack.

  • maggiecat says:

Have a wonderful trip! I’m jealous – about both the cruise and the Seville! But glad you’re getting to enjoy both anyway. Post pictures please!

  • Have the best trip EVER!! Take photos and show us a couple. PLEASE??
    Portia xx

Oddly enough, I think folk who don’t like orange blossom (me) would love this scent (me). It’s BOB (Beyond Orange Blossom).

Have a wonderful trip!! Give your mom a smooch for me!

    xo

I was just coming over to comment something similar – I have Orange Blossom Difficulties, as it often goes very very soapy on me. But not this one. Not at all. It’s all Virtual Orange Tree plus More Interesting Stuff, and I like it.

I also, often, have difficulties with Duchaufourade, and to my mind there is some of that in this. You know, that musty thing? It’s gorgeous anyway.

      • Kit says:

I’m not big or orange blossom, either, but this is, as you note, Musette, way beyond orange blossom! It’s great.

  • FragrantWitch says:

Ooh, Alaska! I had a boyfriend who went out on his motorcycle and did a tour. He said it was phenomenal and the pictures certainly backed that up. I cannot wait to sniff Seville a L’Aube as I am an orange blossom luvah as well. It is out here so I need to get myself into London and have a sniff/buy a bottle…*off to check calendar*
    Have a brilliant time, Patty!

  • Ann says:

How cool (literally and figuratively!) for you, Patty! Very exciting trip — I know you guys will have a great time. Some of my family members are going in about three weeks and I’m so envious. I’m right up there with you on OB love, so can’t wait to try the Seville. Thanks, and happy cruising!
