Posse! Like pretty much everyone else on our planet we here in the Midwestern US are having WEATHER! Near-tornadoes, old trees just giving up the ghost, falling on power lines and making me wish I had a Generac (Portia, et al: I know you Crowdsource things you need/want – how do you phrase it, so folks (like my sister) don’t feel like you’re telling them what to get you?)
I would complain more, but at least monsoons haven’t flooded out a snake farm near me, releasing dozens of highly venomous snakes! Snakes who happen to be excellent swimmers, thankyouverymuch. AIIIYYY! So I guess I should just shut up and be grateful that power has been restored and I can enjoy my fans ON MY PORCH (where there are NO cobras!)!
Instead of fixating on nonexistent (fingers crossed) cobras, let’s talk about Weather Related Perfume! Ages ago I fell in love with Lucien Lelong’s Lelong pour Femme, the one with hints of chocolate and Sharry Baby orchid (and omg! every time I see that I think of the song (Sherry, not Sharry, but try telling that to my sieve-y little mind)… when I first got it (along with the body cream and shower gel ) it was Instant Lust! Gorgeous, lush, soooo…. fabulous. But it was in the 90s (Fahrenheit, not era). I wore the living daylights out of it! Then I made the mistake of trying it in cooler weather – and the chocolate note reared up and struck me, much like the proverbial cobra (sorry! that whole story continues to skeeve me right the heck OUT!! Like Attica! for cobras!)… omg! it nearly brought up my lunch and because I didn’t consider weather in the equation, it languished in my Messy Armoire (for several YEARS!).

Snakes are not my thing at all. In an act of supreme friendship I took my friend to see “Snakes on a Plane” when she was passed over for an award she wanted. I don’t think it helped either one of us much..
We are actually having heat here. Nothing like what you’re having in the Midwest (or Mid-Europe for that matter) but I am glad I am on the first floor and on the North side of the building.

One of the most amazing scent experiences I’ve had was the annual (free!) orchid show at a museum near me in D.C. The Sharry Babies losing their MINDS. All patrolled by tight security cuz people are people… it was close enough I could walk over there on my lunch hour for the month or so it was there, and so I did. Not a huge fan of chocolate in perfumes, tho.
I’m not either… but the Lelong handles it was a subtle deftness so I don’t even know it’s there! :: only know chocolate is a note because it’s listed on fragrantica::

Isn’t that hysterical? What seemed astronomical then is now just a shrug.
I’m not In Luuurve with snakes but I definitely appreciate their natural value. I don’t need ( or want) a venomous snake, nor do I want a snake that can eat me alive! Just a bull snake ( they are legion around here) that can urge the rodents ( I think gsquirrels/chipmunks are rodents) to move it on down the road.

Used to love looking at the snakes at the London zoo. And the huge lizards. We actually have adders here. EEC to be careful in tall grass (which I don’t walk in).
We are slightly cooler (not really a lot but also have winds now, which make life easier). I have returned to big florals. Did Dompteuse today which is sitting quite well.
I read a period romance ( Lisa Kleypas) in which getting bitten by an adder is the key element in the story!

You have to be proactive really early with Crowd Funding. It needs to be ahead of peoples buying habits.
I always say that it’s a needed big ticket item that is out of my reach just now and instead of everyone worrying about gifts and the stress of that I’d like money or gift cards from that store. Doesn’t matter how much, just what you’d have spent on a gift. $2-$20,000 accepted gratefully.
People like to be herded, in the nicest possible way. They USUALLY want you to be happy with your gift. Something that you’ve said you need but can’t afford means that you’ll get real use out of it.
Also, say that this is not compulsory. If you have a gift already or don’t want to give me anything, no problem. I’m just offering some direction for something I really want.
Over the years I’ve crowdfunded things like a Leather Motorcycle Jacket, a beautiful chest of drawers, a new bed base with drawers, an (as yet unbought) sound kit for weddings and events. All of them between $1000-2000 and the money from friends sometimes paid for the whole thing.
Honestly, I’m surprised more people don’t do it.

I’m definitely going to consider this, Portia ! We lose power regularly ( a quadrant OR the entire town – considering it’s one mile in each direction it’s not hard to imagine) – so it would be a great thing to have!
I shudder loathe snakes ever since I got bitten by a grey rat snake in June of 2020 while weeding my backyard. Let me tell you, the bite of a non-venomous snake hurts a LOT, and you still need to go to the Emergency Department to get a course of antibiotics and possibly a tetanus shot. Snakes have dirty mouths!
I’ve never heard of Lucien Lelong. Sounds nice. I love when scents have the lotion and bath gel products available too. Crossing my fingers that all those snakes near you stay far away from your yard!
Nooo! I WANT them !!! ( that’s the part of my post that WP ate)… if I know they’re around then I’m paying attention – it’s the element of surprise that I don’t like.
I’m overrun with ground squirrels so a bull snake or two would come in handy!

Maya – WP ate the part of my post where I answered you re Stevie! My thoughts are that none of them would wear perfume IRL ( lolol!) because it would interfere with their ability to smell predators. But! If we’re talking fantasy then I would put Stevie in something light/ “classy” like Hermes Pomp Rose ! When she shifts… uhhh… the blood of her enemies?

I checked out the Hermes. Sounds just right for Stevie. My problem was shifted Stevie and I got nothing. You however nailed it! lolol. You’re right, none of them would ever wear perfume but I had a bit of fun with it anyway. 🙂
I don’t know much about crowd sourcing. I think Portia would be of better help. You might consider using humor such as you don’t like being kept in the dark.

You made me look…I have a 20ml vintage bottle of Lucien Lelong Tailspin, but no Lelong. Tailspin definitely has that vintage feel and is also very good. But I am all about jasmine this summer – the Jo Malone is getting a lot of wear as is Frassai Verano Porteno (jasmin & citrus).
