AMOUAGE RAISES US$150,000 FOR PIONEERING RESEARCH STUDY TO BENEFIT PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS IN OMAN
The House of Amouage is pleased to announce that it has raised US$ 150,000 which will be donated to the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate of Oman for the implementation of a ground-breaking HIV/AIDS study amongst injecting drug users. Representing 50 percent of the annual worldwide sales generated by a specially crafted fragrance “Opus IV”, the proceeds will contribute to the efforts of the National AIDS Program in effectively monitoring the HIV epidemic and assessing the need for response to HIV along with other sexually transmitted infections, including hepatitis.
Oman, the birthplace of Amouage, reported the first case of HIV/AIDS in 1984 and since then has been observing a rising trend. In the last ten years alone, approximately 100 new cases have been reported each year, which is a relatively high figure for a low prevalence country.
“Opus IV is our contribution to raising global awareness on this growing epidemic, which today remains one of the world’s most pressing public health matters,” said Christopher Chong, Amouage Creative Director and the man behind the inspiring creation that was designed to instill knowledge and empowerment to spread a positive message.

“The socio-behavioral study that will be implemented by the Ministry of Health is the first of its kind amongst high risk groups, and we are incredibly humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support from our customers and partners whom without, this would never be possible.”
Chong explained that key findings will be published in a scientific journal within six months after completion of the study, which will help shape the prevention and control services available for people living with HIV/AIDS in Oman.
Opus IV is part of Amouage’s Library Collection that is inspired by the knowledge and experience drawn from the art of living. The fragrance opens with luminous notes of Lemon, Mandarin and Grapefruit with a warm and spicy mantle of Coriander Oil. The heart is characterized by the sharp and exotic Elemi Oil, Cardamon and Cumin that pervades to a sweet blend of Rose Berries, Rose and vibrant Violet Leaves. The inventive fragrance finishes with woody and smoky undertones of Labdanum, Frankincense and Musk.
Normally the Posse doesn’t ‘do’ Press Releases as a post but this is one of those wonderful exceptions. We are honored to announce this information – HIV/AIDS is still a huge issue in our world, especially amongst injecting drug users, with long-reaching consequences. Our congratulations and appreciation to the redoutable Christopher Chong for spearheading this fragrance and this event to help raise awareness. We are so honoured to be able to be a part of this groundbreaking event and applaud the Sultanate of Oman for allowing this initiative to move forward.
Amouage has also chosen the Posse to host an incredible giveaway to mark this milestone. A 100ml bottle of Amouage Opus IV will be sent to one lucky commenter. Leave a comment letting me know your favorite Amouage fragrance …or, if you’ve never tried an Amouage scent, which one sounds most intriguing to you. For myself, I confess to having given the Library Collection short shrift. And that was dumb. There are some exquisite compositions therein. I’m currently parsing Opus III, to great delight!
Draw will be open until midnight CST, 21December (for all you Cinderellas and Cinderfellas). The winner will be chosen via random.org.

They make amazing perfume. Would love to win this!!
Merry Christmas
I only have small sample of Amouage Epic Man but on my more than a hundred tried fragrances, Epic is at my top 3 best perfume I ever smelled. Amouage, you rock with your great cause! The world will never forget you. Keep it up. Thank you.
Jubilation Woman is so captivating on my skin. It is my husband’s favorite perfume on me. Sadly, my decant is almost empty.
More success in 2013 Amouage fragrance company. Great humanitarian advocacy.
I admire Amouage supporting this important cause. The only Amouage I have tried was in fact Opus IV and it was very, very nice so I’ve got my fingers crossed for this draw – thanks! I also want to try Beloved b/c it sounds classic and contemporary at once with a touch of girlie-ness.
Lyric Woman and Epic Woman are my favorites (please don’t make me choose between them!), and I also love Memoir Woman. I haven’t tried any of the Library Collection, or the Attars (and quite honestly, I’m afraid to!). I have many, many perfumes that I love, but I don’t think any match Amouage for sheer opulence. And the longevity….these babies last for 24 hours, easily! One bottle will last most people a lifetime.
I second Michael’s admiration for Amouage in supporting HIV/AIDS awareness, particularly as they are based in an area of the world where open discussion of prevention and treatment often is still difficult. Cheers!
I have been lucky enough to sample a few Amouage scents, though there are still many more on my wish list to try! Opus IV has actually been my favorite so far.
What a beautiful guesture by Amouage. Have seen the impact HIV/AIDS can have on the life of an individual, their friends and family, it endears Amouage to me that much more to learn of their efforts to help end the epidemic.
Just hoping a simple roll of the dice will be my ticket to experience this line.
My favorite amouage is Beloved. It goes through an incredible metamorphosis and seems to use better materials than anything else I’ve tried.
Would love to try this – thank you for the opportunity!
lyric has to be my favourite- I can wear it all year round, it’s in my top 3 perfumes of all times!thank you for the chance 🙂
Lyric Woman is my favorite of the ones I’ve tried, but there so many more yet to explore!
Ubar is my number one Amouage perfume.
Absolutely Jubilation XXV. Pure class and luxury in a bottle.
Memoir Woman and Lyric Woman are my all time faves, but none of them are repelling.
Memoir man is my favorite. Tribute attar is a great one too!
So far, I have only tried Jubilation 25 and love it, but I have many on my to try list. It would be great to check this one off my list.
Jubilation XXV is my favorite. Thanks for the HIV-AIDS fund raising.
I absolutely adore Amouage Opus II with incense, wormwood and cardamom.
Oh, WOW! I love Lyric Woman with a passion. I’ve only tried two Amouages and Dia was awful on me, but Lyric is a stunner.
Yummy offer. I LOVE Ciel for men. It runs a close second to Jubilation XXV (which I have plenty in stock)
I’ve never tried any Amouage fragrances but Interlude sounds right up my ally! 🙂
The only one I own is Memoir Woman and it’s breathtaking. Count me in!
Opus iv sounds amazing! I haven’t tried this but would love to- sounds incredible! Amazing work with the outreach as well.
My favorit is Tribute, and thanks for The drawing
I am intrigued by Amouage perfumes but have not yet tried them. Having read descriptions of some of them, however, I am most curious about Memoir Woman because of the absinthe note.
So many comments! I’m fortunate enough to own a bottle of Amouage Epic Woman….it has been an acquired taste, but I love it. Also sniffs of Jubiliation and Gold and would love to try Opus IV!
I would love to try Amouage Hommage Attar. Sounds so good 🙂
My favourite is Jubilation 25. Thanks for the draw!
Great cause!! My favorite Amouage is from the Attar line. Its Homage! Thanks for the drawing!
What a great cause! I have not yet had a chance to try any of the Amouages, but I’ll be ordering samples soon! Thank you for including me in this drawing.
I would love to try any of the Opus series and Jubilation 25! Thanks for the draw! 🙂
I don’t have that much experience with the Amouage line, but recently tried Interlude and liked it very much. Thanks for the drawing!
I haven’t tried very many Amouage fragrances yet, but what I have tried have been beautifully crafted. I would like to try Amouage Epics since I love Turandot which inspired them!
I would like to please someone with his favourite Amouage perfume. 🙂
I haven’t explored Amouage as a house, but both the male and female versions of Jubillation sound really intriguing to me.
I am amazed at the scope of the project, what a wonderful thing to read during the Holiday Season….Kudos to this company and it’s leaders!!
I do love Jubilation 25, but it is the only one I have smelled. What a great and noble project.
I need to sample these again. I seem to recall I liked their men’s line best. Overall I think they had a good concentration, which I find all too rarely in newish frags, and I liked that I couldn’t pinpoint what they smelt like right away–slightly heady concoctions.
I bought Amouage Gold when it first came out, and I always feel so glamorous whenever I wear it–the crystal bottle just adds to the enjoyment. Planning a decant purchase of Lyric Woman in the new year.
Last year I was in Oman and I still regret I haven’t bought. But next week we are coming back to Oman, this time I’ll take a flacon home. 🙂
Amouage Gold Men. From the gold bottle to the fluid gold fragrance inside.
For a long time it was Memoire Woman, but at the moment it’s Interlude Man.
I have only tried Lyric and Jubilation (women). They are fantastic!!!! Beautiful rich complex perfumes.
Cheryl
I love Epic Man, Jubilation XXV and Tribute Attar. Would to have Opus IV and VI!
I have never tried any Fragrances from Amouage, but I would love too! This is a wonderful cause, Thank you for all you do!
I adore all the scents Amouage is the only perfume I wear, and often gift to other to enjoy as well.
I never tried any of them, but they sound amazing!
I love many Amouage scents, namely Memoir Woman, Lyric Woman and Interlude Man (on my SO).
lyric man all the way
My favourite Amouage perfume is Lyric Woman, followed by Dia Woman. Wonderful creations!
