Esperanza the Perfume Fairy Godmother
Hey, it is time again for the Perfume Sample Fairy Godmother post for May. Update on Los Angeles LA Scentsation, we have had two cancels and some adds, and I think we still have about 2-3 spaces available with all of that moving around. If you are still wanting to go, we are taking reservations up until May 10, if we have space. If you can’t get registered, click on the Drop us a Note at the top of the blog, and we’ll figure someething out!
So here’s how Fairy Godmother works – this post will be open for the entire month of May 2013. I’ll start a new one at the beginning of June. I’m still going to be going through last month’s post and grant some wishes. April was a hellish month for me, and I’m so very far behind on life.
For those of you new or that need a reminder of how this works – in comments you can list one thing that you are yearning for and can’t seem to get – a perfume sample is the easiest wish to grant for me. Or you can wish for a full bottle, decant, vintage perfume or discontinued perfume you can’t find. If someone has it and can help you out, they can reply to you in comments and then you can arrange to go offline through e-mail to work things out. Please don’t post e-mails in comments unless you spoof them somehow, like this – patty at perfumeposse dawtcawm (spelling the dotcom at the end that way prevents robots from finding it as easily). Caveat Emptor and all that, don’t send people money, check out their references on MUA or Basenotes or the Facebook groups before you send something in a swap, if you wind up doing a swap. We have some amazing Fairy Godmothers that show up every month, granting wishes right and left. If you’ve be a recipient of some kindness, do give back when you can. I know people that have gotten wishes granted, and every month they comb through the posts trying to find one or two people they can help out, and it just makes my heart happy.
If it’s a gift, send away. I should note that it’s more likely that a Fairy Godmother will happen along if you are a fairly regular commenter on The Posse and people recognize your name.
I’ll also play Perfume Posse Fairy Godmother and go through the list every month and grant some perfume sample wishes. I’ll pick from ones that nobody has been able to help with – I’ll spin my random.org wheel – and send them The Precious.

So, on that happy note……Whenever I receive the wonderful samples fellow fairies have sent me, I keep them separated so I can thank the individuals who sent them, and comment on the samples. When I returned home from work, I found my niece, the sweet, helpful soul, had neatly put all my unsmelled samples in a large Ziplock bag. Arrrrrrggggg! I was nearly homicidal, but I gritted my teeth and mentally spanked my hand for not telling her to stay out of my unsmelled stuff. Poor thing was simply trying to clear a space to do her last bit of homework, and, as usual the junk around my computer was totally piled past the keyboard.

I’m still hoping to sniff some Guerlain Arsene Lupin Dandy. If fairy has trouble with that request again this month then perhaps a bit of Fragonard’s Desert or Madini’s Ambargris? All of these have been on my “to sniff wishlist” for almost 2 years now. Will list some reverse fairy godmother samples I’d like to share in an additional post a bit later as well.
I caved and purchased a sample of Guerlain Arsene Lupin Dandy. So can anyone hook me up with even a smidge of Fragonard Desert or Madini Ambergris? Or provide me with reputable seller where I can get small bottle of Madini Ambergris? Found it sold at Talisman Perfumes, but have never run across them before and they don’t seem to accept paypal, which always makes me nervous when I’m dealing with unfamiliar company.
Okay, did some searching on Basenotes and found that Talisman is the source for Madini Oils. Now have another question for all you fairy perfume godmothers. I’m going to get a small bottle of Ambergris for sure. Also planning to get a sample set of these 5: Sahara, Azohar, Oud, Jasmine, Henna. I simply don’t like to fill out customs forms. Also, if I were to go by the letter of the USPS rules, perfumes are considered flammable materials and therefore, can only be mailed via ground shipping.
