Okay, bad day today. Some recurring shoulder/back pain that is making it torture to type, plus some other really bad news came in I don’t want to think about yet.
Let’s do something we haven’t done in a long time, but with a twist. Luca Turin did a post on this years ago. World is ending, rocket ship is outside your house, and you have to leave in 30 minutes. You can only take ten perfumes with you due to limited space. Now for the twist, they can only be perfumes you have never tried and most want to try or perfumes that are long discontinued and unavailable. The perfume vaults are wide open, and you can pick any ten, just nothing in your perfume closet. Which ones do you take?
Winner gets some really yummy sample set I’ll put together of some recent releases. There will be one winner drawn from commenters. I can’t play this game because I smell everything. But I do one have for sure – Fath Iris Gris. Probably also put on there Gobin-Daude Seve Exquise and maybe one other from that line. Now I know I have more, but I’m trusting you all remind me of what they are!

There are so pretty many perfumes I have never smelled. Nuit de Noel (vintage), Santal Noble, anything Ava Lux, Winter White, La Fille de Berlin, Lipstick Rose, Tabac Blonde, Youth Dew (vintage), Azuree (vintage), Borneo 1834, and Timbuktu. This was hard!

Choosing is HARD!!! Definitely Dia extrait, the earliest Chanel No.5 parfum that can be found, Creed Windsor, the original Coty Chypre, original Mitsouko, Diaghilev (always wanted to smell it), ditto for any JAR perfume, something fun from House of Sillage,
Fath de Fath, and maybe some awesome Egyptian body oil that has amazingly been discovered intact and beautiful beneath the swirling sands….

Gosh this is hard – I think I’d take some vintage Poison extrait, vintage Narcisse Noir, Iris Pallida. Then I’d probably go for some perfumers’ absolutes – Jasmine, Iris, Sandalwood, Amber, Bergamot, Tuberose and Orange Blossom. Only 10?

Hopefully one of these would be the long-lasting perfect Iris I have been searching for but, in any case, I would be very calm on that rocket as Iris has that effect on me.
Aedes de Venustas Iris Nazarena is gorgeous if you want to try it…( smoky rooty iris and incense )

I would need/grab Tom Ford Velvet Gardenia, vintage Opium, vintage Panthere, original Black Cashmere, DSH Pink Gardenia, the Olivine gardenia, Tuberose Gardenia parfum, Gardenia Cuir, and a nameless, photorealistic, unbelievably potent gardenia that somebody sent me from Hawaii once. If I am leaving home behind, I need some source of hope and optimism, and gardenias work.
Also Trayee. It is neither new to me nor discontinued, but life is worth living when I have it, no matter what happens.
I’d take vintage L’Heure Bleue in parfum extrait, Fath Iris Gris, J’ai Osé by Guy Laroche, vintage Coty Chypre and Emeraude, vintage Narcisse Noir and Parfum Sacre, vintage Chanel no 19 in parfum extrait, Neroli by Profumum Roma and Amouage’s Fate woman.
Hmm, my absolute top of list perfumes are things I already have – Chanel No. 22 and Caleche. I would want unlimited, un-reformulated Calandre that smells like it did 30 years ago; Caron Perfume Sacre in the perfume strength, SL Daim Blond, to wear very sparingly because it fills up the whole room on me; and a big case of the old Erno Lazslo suntanning oil from the 70s that smelled so heavenly, because I can’t track down that scent anywhere else and because I think my uber-dry skin will need a heavy coat of oil in outer space!
oh oh oh! And the original Magie Noire!
Hmm, maybe this: Iris Gris, Djedi, vintage Diorissimo, Coty Chypre, Iris Silver Mist, vintage Madame Jolie, Portrait of a Lady, Homage, Bois d’Encens, and Black March. Hope things are going better for you tomorrow. Take care of yourself, Patty.
Oh no, the pressure!
I would take Schiaparelli Shocking and Amour de Palazzo (because I must satisfy my animalic needs), Jardin de Kerylos (because I can’t take my darling Phil), After My Own Heart (lilac must happen and I’ve tested En Passant), Ambre Precieux (AMBER!), Nuit de Noel (because I’ve never tried it and if it doesn’t come on the ship I won’t get a chance), Myrrhe Ardente (Incense isn’t optional, and this one sounds nice),Violet Empire (Violets are a necessity and Apres L’Ondee can’t come), Roses Musk (Because you need a rose, am I right?), and Fleurs de Citronnier (I tested the wax sample, does that count? Because if it does I’ll take Unter den Linden).
Whew! Deep breaths.
