Puredistance White, and a giveaway.

Puredistance-06-WHITE-Perfume-00-HRThe nice people at Puredistance sent me a sample of their latest, White. On their website, they describe it thusly “The main idea behind the creation of Puredistance WHITE Perfume has been to create a perfume so beautiful and positive that it gives the wearer an instant flow of happiness.

Well, there you are. Did they succeed? If you like aquatic perfumes you will be completely in thrall with White. Even I, who loathe that note like a vampire loathes garlic, have to admit that like all of this houses perfumes, it’s beautifully done. After the watery opening, it gets a little sweet on my skin, at which point I went and frankly washed it off.

I tried. I appreciate that White is beautifully made and very lovely, but it is so not me it’s not even funny. Like offering my L.L. Bean wearing self Michelle Obama’s Kenzo dress to wear out not me. I love their darker fragrances like Black and M. If I win Powerball I’m totally scooping those up..

But maybe it’s you? If you live in the continental US I am offering to ship the (quite full) remainder of the sample of White to one commenter chosen by random.org.

Notes: (from Puredistance) Rose de Mai from France, Tonka bean absolute from Venezuela, Orris absolute from Italy, Sandalwood from Mysore, Bergamot from Italy, Musk, Vetyver from Haiti and Patchouli from Indonesia.

Puredistance is carried at Luckyscent, so I assume they will have this soon. They also have on their website a page that lists all the other stores carrying them. I received an email from Puredistance that since the exchange rate is more favorable, they have adjusted their prices down 20%, which they should be congratulated for. It is now $170 for 17.5ml, $295 for 60ml and $540 for 100ml.

Winner of the draw will be announced in next week’s post. (Drawing is closed)

I’d love to try this one, though I haven’t had much luck with this house till now – and given the prices, just as well, perhaps. But White does sound lovely… 🙂

  • Aaron B. says:

I would love to try this sample. I like the idea behind the inspiration for the fragrance. I have also not heard of this house until recently and I have been wanting to try something from the house!

  • Mary K says:

Puredistance has fabulous perfumes and I like the sound of White. I am one who likes aquatics; they smell really nice on me. Thank you for the drawing!

  • Hannah says:

I would love to try this one, sounds like a beautiful spring scent to me!

I am truly in love with Puredistance Black although I do alternate amongst all of the tiny samples in my box set (for special occasions only, of course). I’m not usually a fan of rose, but I’d be willing to bet that if anyone can change my mind about that, they can, and I’d love to give them the chance! ^_^

  • Gina says:

I would love to try this!

  • Eloquaint says:

I would love to try this. It’s spring allergy season here, and it’s been a really boring week for my nose, all snorting and no smelling of pretty things.

  • silvrolive says:

Ooooooh, I have been looking forward to trying this one! Maybe it is better as a spring or summer scent? I can only hope for a dose of sunshine 🙂

  • Kandice says:

I have been wanting to try this line and this one sounds wonderful, despite the ad copy :-). Thanks for the opportunity!

  • LisaInDenver says:

Like you, Tom, Black would be on my shopping list if I suddenly won the lottery (although I suppose I’ll have to actually buy a ticket first). I generally cannot do aquatic notes (curious that this isn’t listed in the official notes), although I do find that I like Neil Morris’s Midnight Sea, which also contains patchouli, so perhaps White might work for me as well. The other notes listed are certainly appealing, so it’s worth a sample, should I be so lucky. Thanks for the opportunity!

  • I’d be happy to take it off your hands!

  • janebkrn says:

I would love to try this. I’m one who actuslly likes aquatic.

  • jenn says:

So you are saying you didnt like the instant happiness?

  • Erika says:

I would love to try a sample as I have loved the other Puredistance perfumes!

  • everscents says:

Living in the slowly thawing North as I do, I’m much more likely to wear something from L.L. Bean than Kenzo, especially at this time of year. Snow is still on the ground, the mud season is about to begin, and the weathermen are warning that the rivers are likely to flood. Nonetheless, the necessity for sensible clothes makes me yearn for lighthearted florals all the more. We each seek transcendence in our own way. Thanks for the draw.

  • Lorinda says:

Would love to try. Seems like I read a very positive review somewhere, plus I like rose and iris. Not so sure about aquatic tho!

  • Ncmyers says:

Would love to try this! Thank you!

  • Queen Cupcake says:

“an instant flow of happiness?” This kind of copy-writing always makes me laugh. I don’t want the sample; I just dropped in for a bit of snark… [chortle]

  • Sun Mi says:

I haven’t tried any Puredistance scents yet, but I’d love to try this one. 🙂 Sorry it didn’t work for you though!

  • LaDona says:

Omg! I was just reading up on pure distance and the white sounds Like. It’s right up my alley! I might actually beg for your sample. With a cherry on top! I was going to order the sample from pure distance last night, but talked myself out of it. Don’t make me hate me!

    • LaDona says:

Fwiw I am searching for a sample of the black too. They didn’t seem to have it on their website…though I am all menopause-y and dumb as a box of rocks sometimes thanks to my estrogen deficit. As an aside, you people are getting the blame for this: every time I find a new house that I like, I start figuring out how to make a vacation around a visit. I don’t know how to explain to my husband that I need to go to both Paris and Amsterdam. With a stop in Florence. And Sweden. We gotta make a couple of stops there, too. Sigh. I better start paying off credit cards….

  • Artist says:

Oh…I haven’t had a new scent in age and it’s 7 degrees ( Fahrenheit) outside even though it’s the first day of Spring! I’d LOVE to try this!!!! Thank you!

  • KVA says:

Oh I’d like to try it…though I’m with you are the “darker” ones.
