Hey Posse. Portia from AustralianPerfumeJunkies in the POSSE! Today we look at a fragrance I was given to try while in Chicago with some of the Surrender To Chance crew in November 2014, they gave me a sample which I basically tried on every perfumista in NYC, while I was there straight after, to unanimous acclaim. This seems to be the only fragrance I sniffed with multiple people that they all loved. Loved it till I was empty.
I’ve just bought myself a new 3ml decant to relive the heady days of Musette’s Birthday in Chicago and Black Friday & Thanksgiving in NYC 2014. Good times, great friends and FABULOUS shopping…….

Edited from Surrender To Chance: Surrender is a rich jasmine floral that blends different jasmine absolutes with licorice, carrot, myrrh, gourmand notes and hyraceum. We wanted this to be a plush, slightly naughty perfume….. The addition of the hyraceum makes this fragrance sing! It should be noted that hyraceum is the crystallized and petrified form of Hyrax urine.
WHOOSH!! Straight out of the gate I get a rush of jasmine so beguiling that I have to take a moment to let it wash over me. OUTfreakingRAGEOUS! The most deliciously full on jasmine, so intense it feels like putting my face in a bunch of jasmine and jonquils. Spring into summer, this is how it should smell.
Imagine it’s Saturday afternoon, the hottest part of the day was around 27C/80F, the sun is still shining but the heat is starting to leave, there is little to no humidity and you are just done picnicking amongst the daffodils near a hedge of jasmine and the whole world smells like heaven. You’re full, happily chatting and laughing with friends or family, you’re looking out across the lake where the ducks and other waterfowl are swimming and squabbling and you feel as if this could be the perfect afternoon and you still have all day Sunday to do as you please. If a fragrance was ever to evoke such happiness then I think Surrender is it.

Different days bring different notes to the forefront of Surrender. In the sparkling USA cold of last November I remember us all commenting on how skanky it is. In the warmth of Sydney Autumn it’s all about the jasmine and licorice/anise and much sweeter.
Surrender To Chance has samples starting at $5.45/ml
Do yourself a favour. Here is a jasmine fragrance made for perfumistas by one of the world’s leading independent perfumers. I think you’ll be wildly impressed. Want to know how Surender should sound? Hit the play button below to be blown away.

I’m sorry, I can’t comment on the fragrance because I’M TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY BY THAT VIDEO. Ahem. Sorry. Shouting. Man, that was so coooooool!!! 😀
Ahem. Yeah, I need to sniff that juice, too 😉
Hi there Divalano,
YAY! I’m glad you liked the video. I keep replaying it over and over. What a great piece it is. Yes, TOTALLY FREAKING COOL!
Shout away, I love it. My whole life has been spent in semi shout anyway.
The fragrance, Surrender, is at least as cool as the music.

Howdy, dear! So great that Surrender is giving you a boatload of wonderful memories from your travels. I got a sample a while back and now I can’t find it — waaah!! But it’s OK, as I’m still a bit stopped up; couldn’t really smell it anyway. It will turn up when my nose gets back into working order, ha!
P.S. Thanks for the video — what a smile-maker!
I’m glad you loved the video and bummed you’ve lost your sniffer Ann,
Be well lovely.

Thank you for posting the music. I really liked it.
You’re welcome Mrs Honey,
If you liked the music then the fragrance will knock your socks off.

How fab that this brings back such good times for you Portia. Plus what’s not to like about a fragrance that feels like a Saturday afternoon picnic? 🙂
Hey there Tara,
I’m lucky to have such fond scent memories from a very sunlit, eternal summer type childhood. There must have been boring or rainy or horrible bits but my memory seems to have shorn all that stuff away and left passing memories of happiness and sunshine.
Mum particularly liked doing picnics and they were simple chicken salad rolls and cans of fizzy affairs on a big blanket. Dad would sit in his chair and listen to the radio or read and Mum would have sun baths on the rug with magazines. My sister and I would be tearing around like wild things, having adventures, feeding waterfowl and generally wearing ourselves out.
Great memories.

Oh yes, Portia! When I read the notes when it first came out, I was scared. Carrot? Ew. Licorice? No. Hyraceum? Don’t know. Jasmine? Absolutely freakin’ yes, and I love his Tawaf so I just had to try Surrender. I love it, love it, love it.
It’s pretty darn amazing Holly,
I’m so glad you are enjoying Surrender too.
