Low-key Monday: Happy Labor Day

bulgariHappy Monday everyone, and if you’re in the U.S., happy Labor Day to you! Since it’s a holiday here and many folks are in and out, traveling, etc., let’s keep this short and sweet.

What are your plans for today, and what fragrance are you wearing? Which scents are your favorites for holidays and long weekends?

What’s your choice to wear to your neighbor’s back-yard barbecue, to that picnic in the park, or to a friend’s pool party? Or around the firepit or fireplace, for those of you who might still be a bit chilly in the Southern Hemisphere?

Today I’ll be at work for a while, going to visit my mother-in-law and then picking up my son from his weekend at the beach, so it’ll be a fairly low-key day for me.

Yesterday, however, was Happy Ann Day (my fun “me” day)! A whole day to myself to do whatever I want is indeed worth celebrating! I went into the big city, poking around, played with lipstick and got a few samples to explore over the next few days. I’m looking forward to trying the new Norell New York, Miu Miu, and Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme, as well as Bulgari’s Eau Parfumée Au Thé Bleu (love that pale blue bottle!) and will report back on them in coming weeks.

In fact, I think I’ll test-drive the Bulgari blue tea sample as my road-trip scent and see how it goes. My darling mother-in-law can’t take much in the way of fragrance, so this new Bulgari ought to be light enough (and worn off on the way there) not to bother her. And I’ve found most of Bulgari’s tea scents to be soft, refreshing and inoffensive.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Monday!!

It’s a day off from school for us, so the crew is sleeping in. I’m enjoying a quiet morning of not much at all. I like it. Au Thé Bleu sounds like olfactory fun and that bottle is a stunner.

Tiffanie, I adore days like that! It’s so nice to have a little peace and quiet. Yes, isn’t that a lovely bottle? The juice is nice, too, but not really worlds away from the other tea scents. I think I need to wear it a bit more to get a better feel for it; like three or four sprays’ worth.

that row of question marks was meant to be a smiley face emoji, guess I’ll have to type them out like this 🙂

I just did the grocery shopping (whew!), so we’re gearing up for the first day of school tomorrow. I’m wearing SL Clair de Musc which is is an undemanding wallpaper scent. ???? Gonna cook ribs, German potato salad and slice up watermelon for dinner. Ice cream for dessert. Happy Labor Day or Happy Monday posse!

Hi Ann, your me day sounds like fun, and you are sampling the same new releases that I want to try. Looking forward to your thoughts! Did you find a new lipstick to love? We had a BBQ yesterday with our family and today my husband and I are just chilling on the patio, I wore Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude for the barbecue and may wear it again today. Enjoy your day, everyone.

Hi, lady! Lovely to see you, as always. Sounds like you are having the perfect, laid-back weekend. Enjoy! BTW, I am having fun exploring cheap-o lipsticks and lip liners like the NYX line and Jordana. And then I saw the $90 Christian Louboutin lipsticks and had to cover my eyes and quickly walk away. Do NOT want to fall in love with one of those, ha!

      • Caroline says:

didn’t know Louboutin had branched out to lipsticks. I don’t care for the packaging–guess it’s supposed to look like a stiletto? My threshhold for expensive lipstick is Tatcha’s Kyoto Red (was worth it–completely non-irritating, long lasting, great coverage/color).

        • Ann says:

Hey, Caroline! As they used to say, “You could poke your eye out with that thing!” 🙂 I did not even want to try any of the shades, lest I fall in love. That Tatcha sounds lovely, but it’s not sold anywhere around here. OK, how much was it? 😉

          • Caroline says:

now I see it was a limited edition–ha, I’m patting myself on the back, because I usually miss the boat on those things! I believe it was $55.

          • Ann says:

Good job! And if you really love it, then it’s worth every penny. I flinch pretty heavily at the $30 plus for a Chanel lippie, but if I adore the color, I just bite the bullet and tighten up elsewhere in the budget. A girl’s gotta have great lip color, right?

    Hey Ann,
Hopefully your Labor Day was fun & relaxing.
Been wearing a hodge podge because spring weather is notoriously finnicky around here. Arctic mornings and sunshiny days. Today I had on bits of Absolue pour Le soir, vintage JOY parfum and Sung femme.
Yes, it was that kind of day. I’m still quite fragrant hours later.
    Portia xx

    • Ann says:

Howdy, Portia! Thanks for stopping by. What a great hodge-podge, as you call it — I know you smelled amazing!! Especially that Absolue Pour Le Soir, one of the few “dirty” scents that I can wear and love.
