Yes, yes, I know we are past Christmas, but I had lots of these images, and I really loved this one. How was everyone’s holiday? We did the trip to Kansas to be with my mom, and it was lovely. I was going to write about that new Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense, but I kept trying it and the most I could come up with is I really, really like it. It has that tonka smoothness that’s so addictive with the slightly medicinal myrrh. It’s a little discordant, but a nice addition to the line. It’s in the regular wearing rotation until I can figure it out.
This month I’m doing the random sample grab bag drawing, plus a sample of that new Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka or is it Tonka & Myrrh? Well, one way or the other.. Drop a comment to be entered, and I’ll draw from commenters for two sample grab bags. If the winner has a special request for one or two samples, I’ll be happy to see if I can include those.
Shall I do a Frederic Malle month like I did the Serge Lutens? I rotate those in and out of wearing, but it feels like it’s been a while since I wore any of them, I get so drawn into wearing the next new thing. Sad, isn’t it? I love almost every Frederic Malle perfume. Do that one in January?
Winners of the Pick 10 Serge Lutens sample set – Chrystesmom. Just click on Drop Us a Note at the top, send me an e-mail, remind me of what you won, give me the ten samples you want and get me your mailing address. I’ll send you a quick e-mail to let you know I got your e-mail and it didn’t land in a spam filter and then get it on the way to you.
Oh wow. I only fell down the rabbit hole recently, but FM is my favorite house so far! I have tried three of his scents and adore all of them: Dans Tes Bras, Le parfum de Therese and Musc Ravageur. Would love to try more.
Happy 2017!
Yessss to FM month! Happy New Year!
Yay!! I love Myrrh, anything smoky & incensy….. I am not well versed on Tonka but I swear that’s my name for my NEXT cat!!! FM is a terrific pick, I adore his Un Fleur du Cassie which started my love affair with perfume from under an Acacia tree!!
I’m IN!!!
I have never tried anything from FM at all – would love the chance to see what i am missing! 🙂 The weather here in the UK has been very mild all over Christmas and i hope that continues over the New Year. My brother and his wife are visiting me from Boston, MA and we are just back from the Titanic Museum – interesting but poignant. Have a wonderful 2017 – i hope you and all your readers have a happy and healthy New Year. xox
What a fun way to ring in the new year, with a giveaway! Thank you! And another vote for a month of Malle! Happy New Year!
Happy new year! Would love to hear about niche fragrances. Have to admit that I never sampled any niche fragrances. I always read about them, about the notes, about feelings associated, but it will never compare to actually sniffing the juice. Lol
I’m happy to try anything, to be honest! Thanks so much for the draw, and wishing everyone a very happy and safe new year.
I would be very interested to see short reviews of everything from FM.
Last Christmas gathering for the extended family was on Dec. 28. But we do keep decorations up for all the 12 (or even 20) days of Christmas, which is why we don’t decorate too much in early December. Unlike some close relatives it seems I get lucky and will avoid the flu-like cold, so mostly good memories from Christmas this year.
i still love to sample new-to-me stuff and hope to try something from Mandy Aftel and from Olympic Orchids soon. But today I finally ordered samples from Zoologist, the postage is more reasonable from Canada than from the USA, so it won’t add up to much.
What a delightful draw! The new JM sounds lovely as well. Have a very happy New Year!
Happy holidays. Yes please for FM reviews -your SL reviews were very helpful
Yay, Patty, you’re back! Happy 2017! I took your advice on SL combinations (see Patty’s SL post) with interesting results 🙂
hope you have the best for 2017
I have never tried a Jo Malone frag. I’d be so interested in a FM post–definitely!
Myrrh and tonka sounds fascinating, and I am not usually a JM fan. Thank you and happy new year!
I’ve never been interested much in the Jo Malone’s but, tonka? Myrrh? Sounds like a must sniff to me.
Thank you for the draw!
Please do a FM post similar to the SL. LOVED that and it pushed me go dig out a few samples
I’m always up for sampling something new! Please enter me in the draw and Happy New Year to all!
I would love to try tonka and myrrh. thank you for the chance. Happy New year!
So I haven’t smelled any Malle’s yet… whoops. I’d love it if you did them a la SL, that was a really interesting read! And then I would have a good reference when I seek them out.
Yes Tonka and myhrre! I like tonka a lot and I loved Jovan’s F and M in college.of course just my memory to rely on- but I think I must have liked the rose in it because I’m finding the F and M alone frags are admirable- but are too dry for me. Can’t do cumin at all.
Thank you for the Sauf samples! Just beautiful incense! Especially the one with the vanilla dry down! They lasted forever in my skin- 6 hours going strong!
I’m learning through the posts and testing I’m a floral wearer though. A fragrance Needs to have a noticeable floral in it for it to be wearable for me.
Thank you for the draw!
And yes on the FM post!
I would love to try Carnal Flower and a beautiful rose fragrance- maybe SL la majesty de rose, mohur or OJ Taif.
I would love to be entered in the draw! And yes, please, an FM month would be fantastic — if you can, could you also comment on whether you think the formulas have been altered noticeably since Lauder bought out the line? Thanks!
Fantastic. Thanks for the drraw. I would love to try the Tonka and Myrrhe from Jo Malone!
I’ll dig out some FM samples in solidarity, or go downtown for spritzes if necessary…
I especially love rose-based perfumes — current favorite is Papillon’s Tobacco Rose. Thank you for the draw!
Yes please do the Frederic Malle! I would love to learn more about all of his…and I’m interested in trying the Tonka and Myrrh because I’d like to learn what myrrh smells like away from frankincense- they are almost always together and I know exactly what frankincense smells like but not sure I know myrrh as well. Thank you!
I would love a FM month too. I haven’t tried many and could use some pointers on what to try next in that line. Thanks so much for the giveaway!
New Year, new samples! Thank you for the draw!
Yes definitely do a FM month! Christmas came slowly but the day went so fast. Hope you enjoyed your holiday with family in Kansas! Happy Holidays!
Christmas was over too soon, and I won’t be putting my decorations away for a while. I’m so excited for JM Myrrh and Tonka, as I’ve recently discovered myrrh is a note I love. I never smelled it growing up. Thanks for the chance!
Happy New Year! Malle month sounds perfect x
Thanks for the draw Patty!
Happy 2017 to us all! Thanks for the draw.
I love sampling stuff and if you have Pistil Whip from Heretic that would be great
Thank you for the draw. I’ve been digging zum mist frankincense and room spray lately.Would love to try this!
Count me in for the drawing! I would like to try Tonka and Myrrh.
If I’m chosen I enjoy unisex frags most. So some of you have enough FM to wear a different one each day? Wowsa !! 🙂
I would love to try this! they are 2 of my favourite notes!!
Thank you for the wonderful surprises and please enter me too….
Oh, please do enter me! I hope your holidays were lovely 🙂
Thanks for the draw, and FM month would be great!
Your Guide to the Best Rose Perfumes made me into a fan of Malle. Please do a Malle month. Happy New Year!
Ooh count me in please! This is the first I’m hearing of the new Jo Malone but I love both of those notes so I’ll make a point to try it when I’m next near a store.
For some reason very few of the Malles work on me. The Dries van Noten one haunted me with its cuddly cookies in a rainy day. Until I finally got some and it turned into a major headache trigger ?. I get a very cool melon-y thing in a lot of them. Lutens is definitely more my speed. That said your comprehensive list of Lutenses is one of my favorite posts so I think it would be great to do a Malle comprehensive.
Happy New Year everyone!
FM month would be very interesting. I have Angeliques sous la Pluie but haven’t tried others.
Oh, yes please to a Frederic Malle draw and lots of posts about his scents.
I love Christmas holidays because I take a whole week off to really enjoy being with my friends and relax. Perfumes are a great addition to the holiday mood. I try out all the samples I have forgotten along the way and it’s very amusing. So far Apsu and Mortal Skin are the most interesting ones. I’d love to try the new Jo Malone, of course.
Happy, happy New Year to all of you!
Yes to FM! Have a great New Year, Posse!
Yes to a month of FM!
I would so very much like to receive these samples! Thanks and happy new year!
Did someone say FM? I’m in!!????????
FM for the win! 🙂 Thanks and best wishes for 2017!
You should absolutely do a FM month! I loved your SL post.
2017 can’t come fast enough. Thanks for the draw!
I would enjoy a FM month, I have only tried about three, and all were impressive.
OMG!!! I am beyond overwhelmed with this win! Thank you so, so very much, Patty! I’ll stop squealing from excitement now and make my final choices, then shoot you my e-mail response. And, yes, FM month would be awesome!
I like the idea of a FM month! Can’t wait for the new Alber Elbaz scent in March. As for the Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka, I got a sniff of it today. Very nice scent, a bit less sweet than Fève Délicieuse, reminds me a bit of Vanille Insensée or Memoirs of a Trespasser in the drydown.
Yes, Frederic Malle! (Disclaimer: I just bought a complete FM sample set from STC.)
The Merry, Merry Month of Malle? 😉 Yes, please!
I’ve heard of the Myrrh and Tonka and I really hope I get to try it. Hope your holidays were filled with joy.
Happy New Year! YES! do a FM month and I will join you!
