Autumn Monday: Happy fall, y’all, and pumpkin spice season, too

autumn
Happy Monday and happy fall, everyone! (Or at least those in the Northern Hemisphere.) Even though where I am, it doesn’t feel a bit like autumn, and in fact, it’s been hotter here lately than much of July was. But that’s OK, because at least I know that we’re heading in the right direction.

And of course, pumpkin spice season is now in full swing. I got a little annoyed in August when a few retailers started pulling out their pumpkin spice products, but now that it’s officially fall, it’s not so bad to see the deluge of seasonal goodies at every turn. I’m especially looking forward to getting into the big city to snag some of Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice almond beverage. I tried it late last fall and really liked it, but by the time I got back into town to get more, they were sold out of it and had ended its run. Also, pals have raved about TJ’s pumpkin cheesecake, so when I hit the city, I’ll pack a big cooler and give that a try as well. It might be a nice dessert option at Thanksgiving.

Scentwise, as I’m poking through my cooler weather scents, I see newcomers (to me, at least) Van Cleef & Arpel’s Ambre Imperial and Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit waiting in the wings. And in light of Tom’s post the other day, I’m anticipating trying out Portrait of a Lady body oil on a day or night ahead that clocks in at less than 80 degrees. Portia wrote recently about Eight and Bob Egypt, so I recently snagged a sample of that to sniff, and also hoping to try Byredo’s Eleventh Hour.

When it does finally get to mid-October, even if the days are still pretty warm, the nights cool off nicely and those are good opportunities to ease into a few seasonal scents.

Some of you may already be experiencing a taste of autumn; if so, what are you wearing to celebrate? And others of you, like me, will be waiting awhile for it; what fall-type scents are you most looking forward to wearing?

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

I have a teensy bit left of the MFK Ciel de GUM that you decanted for me, and it’s definitely good weather for that! I’m also looking forward to breaking out the Cuir de Lancome.

Yes on the Botrytis (and all other honeys, now that they’re less likely to attract bees!), yes on the heavy vanillas, and also it is now time to drag out the Solstice Scents oils—Kitchen, Maplewood Inn, Smokewood Apiary, Sycamore Chai, and my favorite–Pumpkin Spice Latte!

Ambre des Merveilles for the first time in yonks and Cuir de Lancôme.

My bottle of Botrytis is about to emerge from summer storage – can’t wait!

I am not celebrating Autumn AT ALL! It’s the harbinger of Winter, don’tchaknow 😉 But even with that, the cooler temps mean I can get back into my chypres and Beloved, which I consider a powdery chypre, only wearable in this transitional time, but so gorgeous!!! xoox

Here in Europe fall started exactly on September the 22nd with a huge drop in temperatures. I am never really ready for it so I’m pulling out my fall comfort scents – Santal from Fragonard, Feminite du Bois and Bottega Veneta Eau de Velours.

I ordered a new bottle of Reglisse Noire since my old one has just a tiny few drops left. As soon as it arrives I will be wearing the heck out of it in the fall. Also looking forward to wearing Phlur Greylocke (if I can pry the bottle away from my son), SSS Incense Woods and SSS Winter Woods (my holy grail amber).

It’s actually a chilly rainy day where I live in New Jersey. I decided to wear Prada Candy because of its yummy warmth. Funnily enough, I’m looking forward to wearing some ‘classics’ this Fall instead of looking towards something new. Shalimar EDP, Hypnotic Poison, Opium EDP, Insolence EDP, Samsara EDP, and EL’s Aromatics Elixir. Funds are a tight right now so I’m wearing perfumes I already have.

Autumn for me means I can pull out ambery and vanilla perfumes again. Alahine, Ambre 114, Vanille Absolument. Chergui. And woods – Stash, SSS Champagne des Bois. I could go on….
