Betwixt

Posse!  It’s Betwixt Time here, where the weather seesaws and swoops from blistering late-Summer type days (today is supposed to be 90F!!!) to mid 50s by midweek!  The mornings are cool, as is to be expected, and the afternoons can be either sweltering or vaguely chilly (I say ‘vaguely’ because in the Midwest ‘chilly’ is truly relative – in August-September 60s is considered chilly… come February? 25F is ‘vaguely chilly’ )…

I’m doing much of what cinnamon posted about, minus the wood stove, alas.  We had a wood stove… of sorts..back when El O was still around – he …. well, for someone with a relatively elegant eye, aesthetics weren’t always his strong suit, especially when utility came into play… so he put a wood FURNACE! that came out of our shop basement! in the Living Room!  Heat?  Heck yeah!  Looks?  OMG!!  Finally nagged him to replace it with another, much more elegant ‘find’ – but he never put it in and took it with him when he left.  Alas.  But the notion of burning eucalyptus bark ?  Fabulous!  The Oakland Fires of several decades ago were devastating… but the smell was phenomenal (I’m going to Hell for that, aren’t I?).

Anyhoodle… from a perfume standpoint it’s definitely a Betwixt Time.  Way too early for the heavy hitter leathers but way too late for citrus.  Attars, for some reason, are not sitting well right now – I tend to prefer them in incandescent heat (which is what they were designed for anyway).  But the following are hitting the spot Just Right:

Leather Garden by Neil Morris.  This is my favorite NM of all – and I am on my 2nd FB!  It’s perfect for this time of year, especially if it’s cool in the mornings.  It’s that thin, elegant leather coat – useless for keeping you actually warm if the weather turns vicious but soooo beautiful

Daim Blonde by Uncle Serge.  Other than The Sad (aka de Profundis) I’m not a huge Uncle S fangirl.  But Daim Blonde makes my heart sing.  I think it’s the apricot.  On a vaguely WARM Autumn day, this is gorgeous!  It doesn’t really work on me in very cool weather, alas.

Diorella (contemporary) .  I’m wearing it today but not on skin.  It’s harvest and the bugs are fleeing the combines and coming into town – especially those pepper-flake sized black bugs with the 4″ fangs.  OW!  So I’m wearing a floorlength chiffon coat that I sprayed with Diorella.  I look… unusual (for here, anyway) but I smell incredible.

Gold by Amouage.  This was my gateway to Amouage.  Over the years it got shunted in favor of heavier hitters like Lyric.  But this time of year it absolutely sings!   Especially the body cream!  Fwiw, Amouage body products are… robust and unless you’re in the privacy of wherever, they do the job 200%.  Perfume becomes a bit of overkill (ask me how I know that 😉

So…. are you having Betwixt weather?  It seems like it’s Betwixting all over the world right now.  What are you wearing during the turbulent time – any of my favorites from up there?  And if you’re wearing chiffon coats and pearl drop earrings over yoga pants, come sit by me.  PLEASE!

You definitely got the Midwest weather right! It’s betwixting time. The temperatures are all over the place. I had the air on today, but one night about a week ago I considered turning on the heat.
Perfume is all over the place. One chilly day/night, it was TF Black Orchid. Today it was Patchouli Nobile, an old favorite that I don’t wear much anymore. On and off for the last week, it was Dior Hypnotic Poison. Oh, and Papillon Tobacco Rose.
I don’t have a chiffon coat. Can I sit next to you anyway?!

Very betwixt here. Close to 90 at the beginning of the week, low 60s by the end. I wear what speaks to me but I’m very indecisive. Hope to get some good ideas here!

It’s def betwixt here. Over 100°F last week and chilly yesterday and today (high of 65°) but will be in the 90’s by the weeks end. And Daim Blond is perfect.
