More Profumum samples

More samples!

Ichnusa — fig, wood, cut grass and myrtle.  Okay, I’m a sucker for fig scents, and this one is excellent as they go.  A little dry with the wood notes, not overly sweet or vanilla-ish like L’Artisan Premier Figuer.  I very much like it, but for the price point, I find PG’s Jardins de Kerylos to be just as good and for less money.

Fiori d’Ambra — ambergris and opium. What’s not to love here? Damn, I don’t even like amber, but this thing has got something pretty amazing seductive powers!  It’s like it crawls up your nose and slithers down your spine to… well, you know.  I don’t think I’ve got enough hotness left to want to wear this, but, Lord, if I were younger and back on the prowl, I’d team this up with some MKK and go slay men.  In the words of Queen of Ho’s, Paris… That’s Hot.

CB I Hate Perfume Musk — I’m just not a skank person, but after reading the comments on CB’s Musk, I was thinking I would hate this, so March graciously sent me a squidge just to find out.  I mean, I’m not going to wear it, it’s just not my thing generally, but as musks go, this one totally rocks.  Huh.  That’s a surprise for me  — picture a furrowed brow with an eyebrow cocked quizically because I don’t get why I don’t hate it. Then I’m thinking if this were paired with the Fiori D’Ambra and/or MKK, all men would just be prey to be toyed with.

Drawing for me this week (I know I need to draw for whatever I was giving away last week), what’s left of all four of the Profumum samples that I’ve reviewed this week.  Just drop a note to enter you in the comments, and I’ll draw next week for them!

    Linda,
I’m one of the people that Ina mentions who adores skanky scents. I think CB Musk is brilliant and I’m personally very glad that I read about it here (and on other blogs as well). This has become one of my favorite scents and I assure you that none of us who love this are in any way financially associated w/ CB. God knows I’d have saved a heck of a lot of money if I was! On my skin there is actually a berry note in CB Musk that makes it extremely wearable. Skin chemistry is a fascinating thing.

  • Ina says:

Just wanted to add my two cents regarding CB Musk. I haven’t tried it yet, so I can’t know whether it really smells like poop but there’re ppl who actually LIKE this type of scents. Both March and Patty said it was SKANKY. I don’t see any fooling here. Just seems unfair to make such an accusation.

  • Patty says:

Hey, Linda — given that nobody on this blog or that comments here sells CB Must, I don’t think it’s fair to say that we are trying to sell perfume.

What smells good to one person may smell horrible to another. Musk is a dirty, skanky smell, and a lot of people just hate it for the reasons that you do.

  • Linda says:

CB Musk is without a doubt the worst fragrance I’ve ever smelled! It smells like poop or like something that died mixed up with some other scent. You folks are just trying to sell perfume and not really giving people an accurate description of fragrances. People don’t be fooled!:(

  • Judith says:

Another CB Musk lover. Honestly, it wasn’t that stinky on me–more just warm and comforting! Layered really well with leather scents too, as March has already pointed out. Would love to be in the drawing. . .

  • M says:

I would like to be entered in the drawing!

  • patchamour says:

Musk, oh goody! If it’s not too late, I’d love to be entered for the drawing. I’m cracking up over those poor helpless guys, who won’t know what hit ’em. Black cashmere kinda has that effect with us old farts over here.
    Enjoy your weekend,
    Patch

  • MNM says:

Please enter me into this week’s drawing as well. Hope you have a great weekend!

  • Sandy says:

OMG – you ladies are sooooo funny. Why oh why don’t you have your own talkshows? You could do something like that John Waters film with Divine in it. The one in “Smellorama” where they gave out a special card with various odours on it, and at specific times in the film you were supposed to smell the card. You could charge viewers for subscribership to the cards before the shows aired…..That way when you do the reviews – we’d all get to enjoy (or not) what all the fuss is about. I need to get a life.

Please enter me in the drawing.

  • Karen says:

Please enter me in the drawing. Thanks.

  • CindyN says:

    Patty,
I would love to be entered into your drawing!

  • Steve H says:

How does Fiori d’Ambra compare to, say the Montale ones?

Please enter me in the drawing as well.

  • Oscar says:

Please enter me in the drawing, too!
Has been a lot of buzz around those Profumum fragrances lately, and wouldn’t mind getting to smell one of them 😛
    Especially Fiori d’Ambra…..

  • chayaruchama says:

Please to add my spooty behind to your skank list!

    Wouldn’t I be delirious!

    Thanks, Ms. PG !;)

  • minette says:

Hi. Please enter me in the drawing, too. Just got my CBMusk, having fallen for all of the skank talk. I find it far less skanky than I’d been led to believe. It’s sweet, slightly spicy (cinnamon) and woody, with just a hint of jus de la femme. And there is an ocean-water undercurrent underneath it all. I like it, but it’s not the dirty animal I thought it would be. Maybe my skankometer needs recalibrating. Will have to see what others get from it, but so far I find it less than notorious.

  • Twibbet says:

Please enter me in the drawing! I am very keen to try Thundra and the sandalwood one especially.

  • Beba Simo says:

CB’Musk “sounds” good. Please enter me in the drawing.

  • gingele says:

Did I hear “skank” and “musk”? Count me in!!

  • violetnoir says:

Excellent! I think I will go test them.

    Hugs!

  • tmp00 says:

Please enter me in the drawing- even though, like Sybil wrote, you and Marina convinced me not to buy…yet

  • Christine says:

Fiori d’Ambra sounds absolutely lovely. And now that you’ve put a stamp of approval on the CB musk, I am dying to try it…hmm…perhaps this will warrant a visit to the CB site?

But any how. A drawing, please enter me!

  • Jenn says:

Please include me in the drawing. And damn I might just have to order a sample of Fiori d’Ambra for myself because it is starting to sound ridicuslously good.

  • kuri says:

;)) I can just picture March’s face. Especialy after reading other people’s reactions to the musk, it’s funny how much you like it.

You should write ad copy: “all men would just be prey to be toyed with.” I think that’s quite a selling angle.

Please enter me in the drawing.

  • sybil says:

Ok…please enter me in the drawing, because even though you and Marina have talked me out of paying for Profumum samples, I wouldn’t mind getting lucky!

  • Malena says:

Please, include me in the drawing – I simply need to test Fiori d´Ambra, now that I read so much about it!

  • Elle says:

I *love* CB’s Musk. I honestly thought it might turn out to be a bit too much, but I was surprised at how wearable I think it is (I begin to question my moral fiber at this point…). And it’s gorgeous when layered w/ floral scents. Sounds like it would indeed be ideal layered w/ the Fiori d’ Ambra as well.

  • March says:

    😮

I was so sure you’d hate the muskrack…

  • Jo says:

Please enter me in the drawing! Been a rough week and I could use a goodie!
    Thanks

  • Alica says:

:((…would like to be included in nthe drawing for I Profumi samples. Thanks

  • Solander says:

Oh, include me in the drawing pretty please, the amber sounds lovely.
