Smell Bent Latest Release
Right, now we have the drool-fest out of the way, let’s talk perfume and comics. Yes COMICS!! Brent has collaborated with Andrew Herman to produce a Comic Book. It’s a first in a very long series I hope because the story is GRIPPING!! All about the Scent Police against an underground Scent Mafia/Superhero Crew who I hope are going to save the world from scent dreck, regulations, lies, corruption and regenerate the fragrant world using naturals and aromachemicals to create AH MAY ZING scents. Well it hasn’t got that far yet but I am seriously hoping it will. Sweet Tyranny
From Smell Bent: Our first double deluxe, ultra-premium perfume. Crafted around creamy orris root and natural Indian sandalwood, two of the most beautiful ingredients available. A little bit fancier perhaps, but still quintessentially smell bent!
Featured notes: Orris root with fresh orange, incense, aged patchouli, Indian sandalwood, bourbon vanilla, vetiver and authoritarian musk
A fresh, cool citric opening wafts delicately around me as soon as I spritz, this is the most elegant of the Smell Bent offerings I’ve tried and if it was a little more sweet gourmand could easily pass as a Guerlain. As the fragrance warms on my skin the orange becomes slightly spicier and heats beautifully, I can’t pick notes out but there is a fatty, buttery, sensual something that I LOVE!! The citrus stays for a long time weaving through, peeking out unexpectedly, running away to hide again. I don’t know what orris root should smell like alone but I was expecting a more aloof scent, this is friendly and engaging and I think quite alluring. Sweet Tyranny has very moderate projection after the first hour, not skin scent but a soft focus halo of fragrance. The sandalwood/patchouli/musk are so well submerged within each other that I can’t pick them as separates but I do get some vanilla wafting up, I like this fragrance very much and could imagine gifting it to a few of my friends too, if my Mum was still alive I think this would definitely have been on the Mother’s Day list of presents this year.
Something else I like about Smell Bent is their idea that all the money should be spent on the juice and the bottle doesn’t need to be glamorous. Cool!

Maybe you know Smell Bent and some of their fragrances? Here is a sampler set of a few of the most favored frags, the top of the hit parade as it were. I have all of these already except the Frankinsmellie and FIZZZZZ. I’ve been known to put Werewolf Lumberjack under a poorly reformulated vintage favourite to plump up the funk factor, it works especially well with the current Opium, Chanel No 5, Joy and Dune: and I like it with modern Femme by Rochas also. Short Fuse is a wonderful incense fragrance that lasts well on my often scent hungry skin and She Wolf is a sweet fruity musk. I have Mirror Ball somewhere but I only dimly remember that it wasn’t particularly working on my skin, not everything will.

It’ll have to be Bollywood or Bust, in 5 ml perfume oil. Bollywood movies are so much fun, and the sandalwood and red roses combo got me very interested – after all I discovered Guerlain via Samsara. Is it real sandalwood, even if not the Mysore kind? The site is great, and the lobster shirt too… everything looks like my cup of tea. I will have to try (more than) a few from this line anyway. So… this is the face behind one of the oddest of oddities in my collection- his “Untitled #8”- which I only wear with great discretion… Never would have thought such talent came in such a pretty coffret. 😉

I think I’m going to go with Walk of Shame in the 5ml roll-on. I’ve been wanting to try this line but hadn’t gotten around to it yet. And he is awfully cute. 😀
I didn’t know about the LA thing far enough out to scrape the money together this time.. but now that I know about it maybe I’ll be able to save up for next year if it comes around again.

A “Trunk Show” is an event in the retail industry in which a manufacturer sends samples of its wares (and often the designer or a representative) , and the store advertises the event. Typically, in the clothing industry, customers can either buy some of the actual items, or order pieces made in her size and choice of materials. For fragrances, I assume this means the representative has samples an items for sale of its entire line to sniff and items to buy.
