September Perfume Sample Fairy Godmother

Esperanza the Perfume Fairy Godmother

Hey, it is time again for the Perfume Sample Fairy Godmother for September!    I’m getting ready to go to Italy for Pitti Fragranze, which I hope to report on next week!

So here’s how Fairy Godmother works – this post will be open for the entire month of September 2013.   I’ll start a new one at the beginning of October.

For those of you new or that need a reminder of how this works – in comments you can list one-two things (just no long laundry lists) that you are yearning for and can’t seem to get –  a perfume sample is the easiest wish to grant for me.  Or you can wish for a full bottle, decant, vintage perfume or discontinued perfume you can’t find.  If someone has it and can help you out, they can reply to you in comments and then you can arrange to go offline through e-mail to work things out.  Please don’t post e-mails in comments unless you spoof them somehow, like this – patty at perfumeposse dawtcawm (spelling the dotcom at the end that way prevents robots from finding it as easily). Caveat Emptor and all that, don’t send people money, check out their references on MUA or Basenotes or the Facebook groups before you send something in a swap, if you wind up doing a swap.  We have some amazing Fairy Godmothers that show up every month, granting wishes right and left. If you’ve be a recipient of some kindness, do give back when you can. I know people that have gotten wishes granted, and every month they comb through the posts trying to find one or two people they can help out, and it just makes my heart happy.

If it’s a gift, send away.  I should note that  it’s more likely that a Fairy Godmother will happen along if you are a fairly regular commenter on The Posse and people recognize your name.

I sometimes play Perfume Posse Fairy Godmother and go through the comments and grant some perfume sample wishes. I’ll pick from ones that nobody has been able to help with – I’ll spin my random.org wheel  – and send them The Precious.

  • Jan Last says:

And the questionable shall rise again! I just received the bottle of Salamanca to split up and mail. If I don’t know who you are, I’ll email you. My notes are this: tending a brushfire in the weeds while eating butterscotch and wearing leather gloves

  • Leathermountain says:

Three cheers for all that is questionable!

  • Andrea says:

Hi everyone. Longing to try any Mona diOrio or Parfums MDCI for the first time if there’s any laying about. Thx. (palisan33 at yahoo*dott*comm)

  • Edward says:

Hello everyone, I have been wanting to try Givenchy’s Pi and Lancome’s Hypnose Homme, Aquolina blue sugar, and in perticular cartiers declaration d’un soir. The rose note seems interesting in a mens perfume. But they don’t exist here it seems.Do anyone have a sample? much love.
    Edward

    • Jan Last says:

I can help with the Pi, the Blue Sugar and a few other “guy” things, because I wear everything, feminine, masculine and questionable. I am jdeangeo at aol dot com

  • Hello, all! I’m new to my scent obsession and trying to learn as much as I can. It’s been a bit imagination heavy, as I don’t quite know what all the notes being described in perfume reviews actually smell like. So if anyone feels like granting a wish for samples that would help me learn and gain an idea of the spectrum of scents that would be awesome (things that spark my fancy probably would have some sort of vanilla, mellowy, toned down quality, but I’m open to anything)! I don’t have many samples to pass on, but I’ll do my best to be a fairy of passing on kindness!

    • FeralJasmine says:

Standardhonor, it just so happens that I am the queen of the vanilla spectrum! Well, I exaggerate, but I have a bunch of them and would love to get you started. Email me at wooddogs3 awt gmailll dawtcawm.

      • Elia says:

And what is the queen of vanilla’s prime vanilla pick?

        • FeralJasmine says:

There are so many, but if I had to pick one vanilla, it would definitely be the Mona di Orio. I think that it’s one to work up to, because it is not most beginners’ idea of a vanilla, but it is a rare beauty.

          • Elia says:

Good pick. It’s one of the better ones I’ve tried and wonderfully layered, but from my very limited trial I did kinda get that it’s not really a crowd pleaser.

          • FeralJasmine says:

My experience is that most people love the drydown. The earlier phases aren’t as popular. I try to put it on about an hour before leaving the house, and keep that rush of spices and woods for a private treat.

    • Jan Last says:

I would love to send you a few, and I’ll write the main note on the label so you’ll know what you are smelling. And FeralJasmine IS the Queen of Vanilla, lol. Email me at jdeangeo at aol dot com

  • Fleamarketjunkie says:

I have fallen in love with Guerlain! And I want to try more, anything would be appreciated, even if it is now discontinued or (ack!) reformulated. I love Shalimar and would really like to try Mitsouko. I have a partial sample of Bombay Bling if anyone is interested in it as well, you can contact me at jmmarshall314 at bell south dawt net.

  • Jan Last says:

Speaking of weirdness, I just purchased the three Demeter Elviras from STC, two of them aren’t half bad, and Zombie is pretty wearable. Also got Black Roses and Vamp. Also sampled Cousu de fil Blanc Les Fleurs du Mal Absinthe. What a long, strange trip it’s been, lol.

  • Jan Last says:

This might be a good thing for shipments outside the US. We’ll gang up, and one of us will send the package. I’ve shipped to most all of these addresses, no problems so far. What do you think?

  • Jan Last says:

I’ll see which others I can come up with. I’m sure I have Violette Precieuse and Nuit de Noel, but you do want to smell Tabac Blonde and Parfum Sacre, the vintage Fleur de Rocaille. I was thinking, if any of you out there have some of the others, we could all do a shipment together.

    • katrin says:

Thank you for the offer, Jan, and the suggestion of combining samples for one big master shipment…it is a hilarious
idea!> I really like the bottle of Caron’s Pour Une Femme, but what if I don’t like the contents?

  • katrin says:

    Dear Perfume Fairies!
I’ve been meaning to sample more of Caron, but thus far, I’ve come across only three: French CanCan Aimez Moi and Nocturnes
(I almost love each of them!).

  • Leathermountain says:

I have found a striking and unexpected similarity between QMM and Sel de Vetiver, which I tried recently. Love them! What do you think?

  • Dear Perfume Sample Fairy Godmother…I am a devoted fan of fragrance and don’t go a day without it….
I have been wanting to try, j’adore, LA VIE EST BELLE, Beatiful, and any musky, woodsy, patchouli type
of goodness! Something fun and new for Fall… Many thanks, Cindi
    jchoppes[at]hotmail[dot]com

    • Jan Last says:

And I just happen to be able to help. jdeangeo at aol dot com

    • leathermountain says:

Hi Cindi. I’ve got a couple of ideas. I’ll email you.

    • merettah says:

      Hi Cindy,
I can send you a sample of La Vie Est Belle and a sample of he j’adore from about 6 years ago. Please send me an email at merhassel at gmail dot com, if you are not covered with these from your other fairies 🙂

  • sara says:

I would love to try any Amouages or Xerjoffs. And a decant of La Myrrhe would sure make me happy! Thanks.

  • Maureen says:

Hi everyone! Happy September! I have never really tried any of Guerlain’s fragrances, except for a quick spray of the newer Shalimar Parfum Initial at Macy’s last summer. I am primarily a Chanel girl, but have been branching out for the last year or so, since reading these blogs. If anyone has any samples, I’d love to experiment. Thanks. My contact is m r u f 1 at y a h o o dawt com. Thanks.

  • MM says:

hi everyone! i would like to try osmanthus interdite by parfums d’empire, amouage lyric woman, SL de profundis. i could offer up samples or small decants in return, and am hoping i can help out with some wishes this time…

  • RuthF says:

  • Lynley says:

Oh fairy godmother! I do feel bad for asking for free perfume, especially as I live behind the iron curtain of Australian customs :-/ buuut, I’d dearly love to try anything by Ormonde Jayne. They no longer send anything here, and there is no outlet. Anywhere.
Any of them would be great 🙂 my email is lynleyforgione at optusnet dot com dot au

    • MM says:

hi lynley, i have a few vials left over from my OJ discovery set. for some reason my email to you got a delivery failure error. perhaps you can email me at thespaceamidlove[@]gmail.com

    • merettah says:

Hi, I have Tolu from a discovery set, that I would like to send it to you. I liked it so much that I went on to buy a set of travel sprays, so won’t need it anymore. Also, if you let me know, which other OJ samples you are getting, I might find another sample to send to you. You can email me at merhassel at gmail dot com

  • Amy says:

hello everyone! I would really like to knock a few things off my to-try list:
Parfum de nicolai: Le Temps D’un Fete, Odalisque; Bond No 9 Chinatown; Diptyque L’Ombre Dans Leau; Anything from Amouage Epic/Memoir/Lyric (just the tiniest drops would do..!!)
I would be happy to pay for samples too! Thanks so much to anyone who can help!

  • rosefan says:

      • hajusuuri says:

    • hajusuuri says:

Rosefan, I got you covered for What We Do In Paris is Secret. The lovely Foxbins will include it in her package to you.

    • Elia says:

I’d offered a tiny sample of Lyric Man last month. Did you not want that?

I’d love to try the Calandre and the Hove Diverti if they’re still available. You can contact me at countsjc at gee mail dot com.

    • thegoddessrena says:

I’ like the Hove, calandre and the Tonatto. My yahoo address is the same as my screen name

      • CarolynC says:

Elia/Rena, I have your addresses and will get package ready. Elia, yours will take a little while for me to get into the mail because I have to deal with post office customs. Rena, the Hove and Calandre are already spoken for so I’ll try to put some other surprises in your package. Jennifer, I’ll e-mail you for your address.

  • Mariekel says:

    Hello lovelies,

Now that Fall is supposedly on its way (whuuuutt?? it’s 90 degrees in DC!), I would love to try Le Labo Cuir 28 and CDG Blue Encens.

    • thegoddessrena says:

Mariekel, are you still interested in the Prada Violette that I got from a reverse fairy last month?–I got enough to share. My yahoo address is the same as my screen name

      • Mariekel says:

YES!!!!! was that enthusiastic or what? Yes, please to that Violette. It is one of my very favourites — you are a doll!! I’d love to send you something in return — emailing you now.

    • Heather F says:

Mariekel, I can help with the Le Labo Cuir-I have an official sample that just doesn’t work for me. My email is heather.elizabeth.freeman at gmail 🙂

  • FeralJasmine says:

I would love to sample Bombay Bling and could trade a sample of Mohur (or something else.)

  • leathermountain says:

Reverse post — I’ll be quite a bit slower than usual as it is back-to-school now!

And my list is a bit short…. I had so much trouble waiting for this post to go up that I already packed up a bunch of stuff for the ultra-deserving Jan. I haven’t got to the post office yet, though. It really is slow time.

    Up for grabs:
A Dozen Roses Electron carded sample slightly used
Olympic Orchids Salamanca (aforementioned) — this is a doozy, and I think it would be smart to send just a mL each to two or three brave souls. Jan, are you on that list?
Chanel No. 22 carded sample slightly used

    • leathermountain says:

And Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey manufacturer sample slightly used, also up for grabs.

    • leathermountain says:

Still up for grabs: at least one more Olympic Orchids Salamanca, and A Dozen Roses Electron

    • I’m totally curious about the Salamanca if you still have any left. You can contact me at countsjc at gmail.

    • Nadja Sand says:

If there is still some Salamanca up for grabs and you feel like sending some to Europe I would LOVE to sample some! The weirder the better is my perfume preference and I adore Olympic Orchids!! I can be mailed at: taralome at hotmail.

    • Jan Last says:

Yes, I would love to be on the Salamanca list!!!

    • Maureen says:

I’d love to try the Chanel 22. I have a sample of #5 if you’d like it.

    • leathermountain says:

Yay, all my reverse offerings are spoken for. I love when that happens!

Jan, I believe that rosarita313 is covering your Salamanca needs. Of course I still have a package for you.

thegoddessrena, FeralJasmine, Jennifer, Nadja, and Maureen: I will strive to pack up your things by the weekend. Love to Fairy!

      • leathermountain says:

Ok, I’ve reached out to or been in contact with FeralJasmine, Jennifer, and Nadja.

thegoddessrena, I have your mailing info, and a Happy Belated Birthday!

That leaves Maureen. I’m assuming you’re the same Maureen as below and will email you at that address. Maureen, if you don’t hear from me, please post your contact info here or find my email address elsewhere in this post and contact me. Thanks!

    • leathermountain says:

Ok! Parcels en route to Carolyn, FeralJasmine, Maureen, Connie, Jennifer, Sally, Rena, Jan, and Maren, all scheduled to arrive Monday or Tuesday. Nadja, yours is also en route but I don’t know how long that will take. Happy sampling!

  • leathermountain says:

    Dear Esperanza,
Would you please send me any large quantity of any crowd-pleasing scent, masculine feminine or whatever? I am preparing a high school chemistry course, in which we will focus on fragrant materials. I’d like to be able to explore the physical and chemical properties of perfumes. But they’ll need to appeal (at least a little) to anyone and everyone. And I’ll need a lot of it. I *completely* understand if this is beyond the PFG pale.
    With admiration as always,
    lm

    • leathermountain says:

      Oops, my contact info: a l e d e r b e r g attttt h o ttttt mail

    • Lynne Marie says:

Would a big ol bottle of Fancy by Jessica Simpson do the trick? It seems to be the sort of thing high school’ers gravitate toward (oy!) or are you trying for something with greater sophistication? You can email me at clevelandvitz1 at gmail dawt com

    • I have a few things that might work. Just sent you an email.

    • leathermountain says:

Dearest Esperanza, you are bestowing such marvelous gifts upon the young women in my classes.

Might you, perhaps, have a bottle aimed and the future gentlemen in the group?

      With everlasting gratitude, lm.

      • Lynne Marie says:

I’m sure I can find something for the guys to send along with the Fancy. I’ll email you!

      • Sally McSweeney says:

Hi Leathermountain – I know I have some manly scents – off the top of my head, Pierre Cardin, Old Spice, English Leather – big bottles all. I know I also have some more modern ones but cant recall what. If these are at all of interest, email me at salmack1 at earthlinkkkk dotty net. I will have a lookyloo at what else I have 🙂

  • CarolynC says:

I’ve recently discovered that I love heliotrope, so I’ve been on a search for perfumes that have it as either a central or noticeable supporting note. Perhaps some Chant D?Arômes by Guerlain, so I can try to pick it out of all the other flowers? I’ll do some reverse fairy godmothering later.

  • AnnieA says:

Aileen! Did you you still want the Neela V samples from the last perfume fairey godmother? Haven’t heard back from you, and on my part still don’t have the right vials yet…Annie the would-be but tardy pfg

  • Lynne Marie says:

    Dearest Fairy Godmother,

Thank you sooooo much for your past generosity! I’m wishing for a small decant of Guerlains Bois D’Armenie or Profumums Fiore d’Ambra if possible and would love to send goodies in return!

  • Tiara says:

Dearest Fairy Godmothers/Godfathers: I know this is a long shot but I would so love to try Deneuve by Catherine Deneuve. Almost afraid to see what I’ve been missing but I’m so curious!

  • Maren says:

Dear Fairy God Mothers, On my wish list that I would love to try are Chanel Coromondel, Ormonde Jayne Woman, SL Bas de Soie and Guerlain Nahema. I’d love to give an exchange sample in return if I have something you might enjoy. Thank you!

  • Heather F says:

Hi again all! This month I would love to sample anything from Krigler (though particularly their Tuberose, Patchouli, or Oud), or anything from Skye Botanicals or Phoenicia indie lines. (And thanks so much to Lucas for being my perfume godfather last month–much appreciated!!) Thanks so much!

  • Jamie says:

    Dear Perfume Fairies!

I would love a decant of Maison Francis Kurkdjian Amyris or Aqua Universalis. Alternatively, I’d love some help exploring the Le Labo line.

    Thank you!

    • Lynne Marie says:

      Hi Jamie,

I have some Labdanum 18 and Santal 33 samples I could send your way – you can email me at clevelandvitz1 at gmail dawt com!

    • CarolynC says:

Hey PatriciaC, I’m pretty sure I have a little SABI by Henry Dunay I can spare. E-mail me at bogsc at aol dawt com and I’ll check in the meantime.

      • patriciaC says:

Oh my you do? Are you sure cuz they don’t make it anymore-Of course they don’t, has to be that way right?

        • CarolynC says:

Yup, some of the best stuff has been long discontinued. Sabi ranks up there with some of the best of them imho.

  • Because I love Cuir Venenum, I’ve been wanting to explore the Parfumerie Generale line further. I’m interested in any of the following:

Felanilla, Coze, Psychotrope, Iris Oriental/Iris Taizo, Tubereuse Couture, or Aomassai

  • LaurenW says:

Wow, glad I just visited Perfume Posse. I’d like to try Annick Goutal Musc Nomade, please.

  • Jan Last says:

BTW Patty White, hope all is well in your world. I’ve been sending good thoughts.

    • leathermountain says:

How weird is weird? Like, Salamanca weird?

      • rosarita says:

Noooooo! I can’t believe you said Salamanca, that’s what I was going to send her lolololol At least we’re in agreement that it is a weird one! Jan, if you’re interested, I have a bottle I was going to send your way, if leathermountain doesn’t get to it first!

        • Jan Last says:

Sounds weird enough to me! Civet is sending something described as the smell of a garage mechanic. this is going to be a fun month! Perfume Annie sent me a Union Quince, Mint and Moss; it was so good on me I got a FB! I received a Demeter Tomato, too. Fire away!!! Oh and Elia sent me an aoud I described as hitting a fly with a sledgehammer, but tiny dabs are very nice!

    • Lynne Marie says:

      Jan,

I think I can find some odd ones to send your way – I’ve been busy testing this month and there were several that made me go “Whoa, baby!!” I think I still have your address from last month, If not I’ll get back to you 🙂

  • Martha says:

    Dear Fairies –

I’m trying to track down the perfect sandalwood perfume. I’d love to try either Santal Noble or Santal Majuscule, or both!

    Thank you very much. 🙂

  • Connie says:

  • Ann says:

Hello, all you wonderful Perfume Fairy Godmothers! My request may be a bit of a long shot, but here goes: Does anyone have a sample spray or decant of Jo Loves Gardenia? A dear lady sent me her vial quite a while back and now it is empty 🙁 . I was going to order it from the Jo Loves UK site but the shipping is almost as much as the product itself and my wallet screams “No!” If anyone has some to spare, I have lots of goodies to share in return. Many, many thanks!

  • levinebabe says:

Fairy Godmother! It would be a great pleasure to me if anyone I can have my hands on smell bent incensed, especially the perfume oil. I also would love to try St Tropez Dispenser Apres Soleil and Hungry Hungry Hippies

  • beck says:

    Good evening to you all,

Dearest perfume Godparents! I was very happy I could help Heather last month (hope she got the package alright!)
Every day it’s more and more autumn around in the park.

I have a wish to try Histoires de Parfums 1899 Hemingway, Penhaligon’s Iris Prima and eventually Bottega Veneta Pour Homme.

I live in Poland. To can contact me – click on my nickname and then go to the contact section on my blog.

Good luck to all the fragrant wishes!

  • Nadja Sand says:

Happy autumn everyone! I am obsessed with the thought of a leather/tuberose perfume and would LOVE to sample Mona di Orio’s Nuit Noire!! I’m hoping someone out there has a bottle and is willing to squirt some of it into a sample vial for me! If you have any other leather/tuberose frag, I’m interested in that too! Fingers crossed. <3

  • Belle says:

I forgot! My email is dontbing at gmail dawtcom!

  • Belle says:

Hello again everyone! Hope all your perfumes wishes do come true! ;D my own wishes are samples of DSH’s antiu perfume, Baiser Vole, actually anything green/lily! Thanks everyone!

  • merettah says:

Dear perfume Godmother. I will be checking and hope I can grant some wishes. Such a great and fun post! To further explore my love of patchouli, I would like to try CB I Hate Perfumes Patchouli Empire or Le Labo Patchouli Leaves. I am at merhassel at. Gmail dot com

    • merettah says:

Sorry, correction: I meant Le Labo Patchouli 24 or Montale patchouli Leaves. Alternatively I would like to try Demeter Patchouli in my present patchouli exploration 🙂

  • Undina says:

I wish a wonderful September to all the generous Perfume Fairy Godmothers and many perfumed discoveries to newbies – I’ll try to see if I can help this time.

My perfume wish is a long shot: Chic Shaik No 30. If anybody has it, I’d love to buy or swap a 3-5 ml decant of it.

  • rosarita313 says:

Hi, Posse! I was hoping the fairy godmother post would appear. I am seeking samples or decants of a couple of Serge Lutens perfumes: Jeux de Peau, Ambre Sultan, Five O’Clock Au Gingembre, esp Jeux de Peau. I was digging through some samples the other day and realized that I haven’t tried it, and I know I haven’t tried Ambre Sultan since early on in my perfumista days. If you can help me out, please email me at opponatrix at gmail. Thanks, everyone 🙂

    • levinebabe says:

Hi rosarita! It is outside of my capacity to help, but if you only want to try the scents, email SL at contact at sergelutens dawt cawm. If you are lucky enough, you may get what you want. But if you rather seek for the perfume form, no need to mail them, they only have wax samples.

      • rosarita says:

Thank you for the excellent suggestion, but to be honest, I just don’t get much from those wax samples. I have not found one yet that smelled (to me) very close to the actual juice.

    • Ann says:

Hi, Rosarita! I think I can help you out with at least one of those (the JdP).

    • Jan Last says:

      Rosarita,

I am new to perfume as a hobby/obsession but came of age in the Opium/Obsession/Georgio era. Now I am attracted to less elevator-clearing scents. I particularly like iris and would like to try Aedes de Venustas Iris Nazarene and any tea scent as I haven’t tried a single one.

Thanks, Perfume Fairy Godmother, and Patty for your wonderful blog which has opened my eyes to the world of perfumes!
