Esperanza the Perfume Fairy Godmother
Hey, it is time again for the Perfume Sample Fairy Godmother for September 2014. So here’s how Fairy Godmother works – this post will be open for the entire month of September 2014. I’ll start a new one at the beginning of October. For those of you new or that need a reminder of how this works – in comments you can list one or two things that you are yearning for and can’t seem to get – a perfume sample is the easiest wish to grant for me. Or you can wish for a full bottle, decant, vintage perfume or discontinued perfume you can’t find. If someone has it and can help you out, they can reply to you in comments and then you can arrange to go offline through e-mail to work things out.
Please don’t post e-mails in comments unless you spoof them somehow, like this – patty at perfumeposse dawtcawm (spelling the dotcom at the end that way prevents robots from finding it as easily). Caveat Emptor and all that, don’t send people money, check out their references on MUA or Basenotes or the Facebook groups before you send something in a swap, if you wind up doing a swap. We have some amazing Fairy Godmothers that show up every month, granting wishes right and left. If you’ve been the recipient of some kindness, do give back when you can. I know people have gotten wishes granted, and every month they comb through the posts trying to find one or two people they can help out, and it just makes my heart happy. If it’s a gift, send away. I should note that it’s more likely that a Fairy Godmother will happen along if you are a fairly regular commenter on The Posse and people recognize your name. I’ll sometimes play Perfume Posse Fairy Godmother and go through the list and grant some perfume sample wishes. I’ll pick from ones that nobody has been able to help with – I’ll spin my random.org wheel – and send them The Precious.

Hi everyone! I have another little request this month.. but this time it is more of a request for information. As some of you may know, Le Labo City Exclusives are currently available for a limited time. Being a big fan of Le Labo, especially some of the City Exclusives, I am planning on making a purchase. So, my request is, has anyone tried their Body Lotion and tell me about it? I am curious but at $65 a bottle for their standard scents and $130 a bottle for the City Exclusives, I want to know if this stuff is that good!! 🙂 I actually emailed Le Labo but unfortunately was told they do not have samples of their body products and directed me to one of their locations, which are not anywhere near me. So, Dear Fairies, has anyone tried it that can enlighten me? Thanks!

Went to a friends house on Saturday to watch the USC/Fresno game. I can’t believe I am typing this as what some would call a resolutely gay (and not sports-minded at all) man but I am actually enjoying football. Even though I went to college 3000 miles from USC. I also enjoyed chatting with my friend’s grandson, who is having his Bar Mitzvah next month. A teenager who’s bright, witty and interested in hanging out with his elders. He should be cloned.
Sunday I cleaned a little and napped.
Labor Day I did absolutely nothing. Didn’t leave the house except to go to Gelson’s and buy food. Watched “Written on the Wind”, “Harper” and “How to Marry a Millionaire” for Lauren Bacall, had a white wine spritzer or three and a long hot bath in a too small tub. Absolute Heaven.
I loooove to drive. If ever I won PowerBall I’d buy a 450SL and cruise to all the architectural hotspots in the US I’ve always wanted to see (and likely visit every one of you as well.) What I hate is to commute, and to do so with the rest of the world on the road. Add in bad weather and I’m ready to bite someone, and not in a fun way.

Sometimes the real treasures are among the weird stuff! In my quest for a grown-up, sophisticated black jellybean I got lucky and found Mario Tomas La Poete. I love the way it smells on me. Although I will never desert 1000 Flowers Reglisse Noir, this one is a stunner! I’ve also gotten to smell some really ugly and some really beautiful stuff.

Oh my gosh!! I’m a fragrance newbie and I just discovered this blog a couple of weeks ago – I didn’t know you did this! What a wonderful tradition! I would be thrilled to try a sample of Beloved by Amouage or CB I Hate Perfume’s 7 Billion Hearts, or honestly any CB I Hate Perfume.
