SOTD 11.9.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 11.9.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Wore Reem Acra out for dinner tonight with girl friends from my teen years. One of them really liked it. That’s Xmas sorted!
Wearing it again now to bed. Such a beautiful, low key, radiant white floral.

    Interlude Black Iris by Amouage.
A very sophisticated fragrance, only tenuously tied to the original Interlude Man.

Gucci Bloom, an easy to wear tuberous. I think it’s the rangoon creeper that makes it for me.

  • Brigitte says:

    Au Coeur du Desert

  • Portia says:

    Today: Anyway by JHaG
Tonight: Rouge by Hermès. Softly funky white flowers.

Hi everybody, I’m still on the look for the perfect fig scent, one that’s better than Philosykos. I’m testing a sample of Jovoy’s L’arbre de la Connaissance and it looks promising.

  • Melanie says:

AT Desert Marocain for me – on me today it’s being a dry, yet spicy turkish delight scent. So pretty.

  • NancyC says:

Blumarine II from a 20 year old bottle. I was a single mom, and needed to treat myself to something pretty!

  • Brigitte says:

    Dune…. again!!

  • Portia says:

Today I got to try two of the new Amouages.
Meander (green, mossy, iris) and Crimson Rocks (burning sand and bakery)
They are really nice. Excellent longevity. Fireworks are mainly in the top notes and the bases are simple but modern luxe. Very wearable.

    • Neva says:

Oh, I’m so curious about the new Amouages! Meander seems to be my cup of tea, can’t wait to try it!

  • NancyC says:

Dame Earth Mother again today, but added Iris Torrefie when EM faded. Got the IT split today, and it’s sadly not for me. If you like a dressy iris with some powder and sweetness, this might be the ticket.

  • Melanie says:

ELDO Fat Electrician for me today. I LOVE this one. Vetiver, myrrh and vanilla and sometimes i even think a pinch of musk.

  • Maya says:

Was in the mood for sunshine. Went with vintage Caron Montaigne. Lovely.

  • Portia says:

Ambra di Luna by Ramon Monegal. Opens like Bal a Versailles and then morphs into a lightly furry amber. Very nice walking the dogs in the cool of the night.

PHI Une Rose de Kandahar after a day in the garden.. it’s exquisite, beguiling is the word I think I’m looking for, sadly my decant is now empty. Bugger..

  • Melanie says:

Enjoying my Shakepeare’s Lovers Complain today – a beautiful juniper, and leather scent. Do adore the bottle.

    • Portia says:

Juniper and leather sounds excellent Melanie. Yes, those dark, hefty bottles with the gold lettering are lovely. So luxe feeling.

This morning (Sydney time) the Posse writers are having a practice ZOOM Meeting. It will start in an hour. I’m unreasonably excited.
The computer and lights are set, my desk cleaned and cleared, face washed, coffee cup chosen.
Scent: Mohur EdP by Neela Vermeire Creations. Y U M!

Dune for my morning walk…gosh, this is so good. Later I sprayed my arms up and down with six different things… testing 🙂

  • Portia says:

Guerlain Voyage Moscou for bed. Why didn’t I buy three bottles??

  • Portia says:

Had a bath with some Old Spice thrown in. It smelled gorgeous while I was in there and has clung tenaciously to my skin. I smell fantastic.

  • Brigitte says:

Started very early in vintage Opium and vintage Samsara. Post lawn mowing shower testing Alien, vintage Dune, Fate, Nuit de Cellophane and Nina Ricci Lextasse Rose Absolu. They are all great!

  • matty1649 says:

I spent a very long time this morning looking for something, not perfume. I found a full bottle of YSL Paris so thats what I’m wearing today.

  • Portia says:

Woke up this morning in remnants of Ormonde Woman, it goes well with my sleep sweaty old dude smell.
I’m having a lazy day at home, Jin is out working, the place was cleaned top to bottom yesterday, there’s ample food and I will read, bathe, eat and wander the suburb with the dogs. HEAVEN!

  • NancyC says:

I’m in Dame Earth Mother today, not sure I’ve tried it before. It goes on the WANT list. That didn’t take long.

  • Tanja says:

Wore Rose de Petra from a sample someone sent me. Such a nice dry spicy rose, I like it more than I thought I would.
Now we are tasting wine we bought last weekend, when we toured the wineries in the valley of the Nahe River in Germany. What a great sauvignon blanc! Perfume and wine is a great hobby for smelling and tasting.

  • Musette says:

Crappy weather (chilly, greasy mizzle) and being pecked to death by construction ducks. Went with Amouage Jub25 body cream under vintage Mitsouko extrait for strength and grace under pressure!

    xoxoxo

  • Brigitte says:

Up at the buttcrack of dawn so went with Coramandel extrait at 3am while watching Dexter on Netflix. Post shower went with Cristalle EDT for work. Expecting a package tonight and will wear a goody from there in the evening.

  • MMKinPA says:

Pulled out a box of minis that I tend to forget I have. Mon Guerlain caught my eye so I’m wearing that one today. Will most certainly move to something more interesting later today!

    • Portia says:

      Hi there MMKinPA,
      How are you?
That Mon Guerlain wears beautifully. Are you getting cooler where you are? Was it a good fit?
      Portia xx

  • Dina C. says:

Wearing Mademoiselle Guerlain today (reissue of 2011 version of LPRN 2) which has lovely iris-galbanum-marshmallow-leather notes. It’s sweet, but the greenness keeps it from being cloying. Love it.

  • Kathleen says:

Another day in Dame Duality! I love this perfume so much. I combined it with the sample of Dame Desert Rose oil and it smells even more spectacular.

  • KimB says:

Today I’ve been trying the new Chanel Coco Mademoiselle eau pour la Nuit. There is always so much love for Coco and Coco Mademoiselle and I just don’t get it. This new one is lighter and nice enough, but gone in 30 minutes, doesn’t change my mind. Still don’t get it. Give me Bois des Iles or 31 Rue Cambon. Now that’s something “pour la Nuit”!!

    • Portia says:

      Hey KimB,
I have samples but haven’t tried it yet.
I’ll keep your review in mind.
It is an incredibly popular line. So many people wear Coco Mademoiselle as their single signature perfume.
      Portia xx

    • Kathleen says:

I love everything Chanel, faves being No 5, Bois des Iles, Rue Cambon, Coco and Coromandel.
I don’t get Coco Mademoiselle either, the only Chanel not for me. I was wondering about the new version but doesn’t sound like it will change my mind either.

    • Dina C. says:

I’m a big Chanel fan, but I’ve never gotten the fandom over the Coco Mademoiselle and flankers. Love Bois des Iles and 31 Rue Cambon however. I salute your good taste! 🙂

      • Portia says:

        Hey DinaC,
Yeah, it’s weird, but it’s their biggest seller in OZ nowadays. I think it might be really accessible for a modern palate.
