Art Collection #02 by Jacomo Perfume Review

Hiya Perfume Posse Peeps,

It’s Portia from AustralianPerfumeJunkies back again to torment you with my freaky perfume loves. You have probably all tried, worn, loved or hated and dismissed this old chestnut already, sorry. For me it is brand new and YUMMY!

From the Jacomo site

Olfactory family: Oriental Leather Gourmand.
Top note: Bergamot.
Head note: Lis, Tonka bean.
Base note: Vanilla, Suede note, Amber, Patchouli
… A certain concept of art, of audacious perfumes, a collection which dares to assert itself. Cecilia (Carlstedt) and Jacomo : an inspirational meeting for both. For Jacomo, a double-edged ambiguous perfume, an addictive and regressive fragrance, well-known but mysterious, glamorous yet childlike. For Cecilia, a sensual interpretation with echoes of her creative spirit and childhood memories. As if her muse, looking like Salomé had escaped from her studio leaving in her trail, gum, leather and modelling clay.

Before even spritzing I am in love with the bottle, it has heft, is cool, classy, and designer with blackened glass so I don’t have to freak out about the light coming into my room so much. When wearing Jacomo’s Art Collection #02 I get an amazing leather and amber style fragrance right from the get go. The bergamot doesn’t even show its face but the lily is there quietly. People talk of the comparison to Play-Do and there is a crisp salty tang above everything else, floating and disconnected, but not like my recollections of Play-Do. These lovely accords also combine to give me a musky, warm skin-like backbeat. A soft new suede jacket on the chair next to you in the warm sun; the smell when you put it on. The remaining traces after 5-6 hours are a dry vanilla and young healthy flesh, but so subtle that it could be your natural scent. I know I smell good because my partner Jin snuggles in to smell me better next morning.

The sillage and longevity are excellent, last night I sprayed in my dressing room before work and could still smell Art Collection #02 when I got home clear as day, both on myself softly and in the dressing room.

There is loads more info in the NowSmellThis and EauMG reviews. And they have quite different experiences with the scent on their skins.

What a fabulous review – I was tempted to buy one of these during the closing down sale of a perfume chain but they didn’t have testers.

Portia, Can I first just say that I have finally been to your site and you are FAB. Never did I think the phrase ‘S&M vagina’ would be in a fragrance review but I am damn glad it has!
I have had Art Collection 2 on my to-sniff list for a while but idea of sun-warmed suede has put on my next sample order list. Thanks the review!

    • HA HA HA! I know Radium is the BOMB isn’t he. So damn articulate. In his spare time he is an Archaeologist.
I’m so glad you skipped across, thanks for taking the time.
I do hope you love the Jacomo Art Series when they arrive.

I’ve never heard of this, but you make it sound amaaazing. Clearly, it’s a must-try. Thanks for the great review!

  • Musette says:

    My darling Portia,

I can’t tell you how much I look forward to your reviews!!! Having watched a couple of your videos I can now hear your fabulous, husky voice, as you spray the latest ‘victim’ with abandon!! LOL! I would love to meet you in person!!!

My experience with Jacomo is limited to Silences, which I love for early spring. I have a couple of the Art Collection samples – your review encourages me to try them out.

btw – when you say ‘gum’ do you mean gum resin? Or chewing gum…and if chewing gum..what kind?

    xoxoxo

    • Hey Musette,
WOW! Thank you. Next week Perfume Posse gets its first LIVE VIDEO SNIFF, I’m excited to bring it.
I think the resinous, artists gum, a thicker than treacle like substance. The word gum is from the Jacomo site said by artist Cecilia Carlstedt. That’s what I get in my nose too.
PLease try them and tell me if you agree.
