Esperanza the Perfume Fairy Godmother
It’s time for the April Perfume Sample Fairy Godmother post. You can post one thing you are longing for – perfume sample or perfume decant or full bottle.
So here’s how it works – this post will be open for the entire month of April 2013. I’ll start a new one at the beginning of May
For those of you new or that need a reminder of how this works – in comments you can list one thing that you are yearning for and can’t seem to get – a perfume sample is the easiest wish to grant for me. Or you can wish for a full bottle, decant, vintage perfume or discontinued perfume you can’t find. If someone has it and can help you out, they can reply to you in comments and then you can arrange to go offline through e-mail to work things out. Please don’t post e-mails in comments unless you spoof them somehow, like this – patty at perfumeposse dawtcawm (spelling the dotcom at the end that way prevents robots from finding it as easily). Caveat Emptor and all that, don’t send people money, check out their references on MUA or Basenotes or the Facebook groups before you send something in a swap, if you wind up doing a swap.
If it’s a gift, send away. I should note that it’s more likely that a Fairy Godmother will happen along if you are a fairly regular commenter on The Posse and people recognize your name.
I’ll also play Perfume Posse Fairy Godmother and go through the list every month and grant some perfume sample wishes. I’ll pick from ones that nobody has been able to help with – I’ll spin my random.org wheel – and send them The Precious.

Aloha – I just found this website this afternoon & messaged the webmaster, but thought I would see how the Fairy Godmother works as well 🙂 Do any of you know where I can find “Aqua Mist” by Bath & Body Works? They had it for a brief time in the late ’90’s and my mom loves it, but I can’t find it online anywhere. Unfortunately, that is a different one – that one is called Deep Aqua & it’s the one that shows up on all the searches I have done. The one I’m looking for comes in a perfume bottle, not a body splash. Thanks for your help, though!

Dear Esperanza, I know I’m late to the party this month but I figured I’d try anyway. See, I think I might need a bottle of Vero Profumo Rubj EDP but the thing is, I’ve never tried the extrait. I was hoping that I could possibly get a few drops of the Rubj Extrait to try to see if perhaps that would be a better version for me to purchase. I’d hate to spend $200+ on the EDP only to find out later that I like the extrait better.

Hi Ruel! I too, love BdeE and was told by a Saks Armani Beaute SA that it MAY come back to the US this summer, since there is a lot of requests for it. We can only hope. It is still available in European boutiques if you can bribe a friend to bring it back…That said, if you can find Heeley Cardinal, I think it’s super close and has pacified me till Armani is available again. Sorry I don’t have any to share, but I hope that helps a little 🙂

This month, I am very curious about fragrances I’ve heard about in passing but never seem to find anywhere, and that I can’t get a handle on from the reviews I’ve read. Basically, unlike most frags, I can’t tell if I would even like these! Which of course makes them fascinating. The ones that have me wondering are ELdO’s Rien (how does “nothing” smell??), Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant (some descriptions sound awesome, some sound awful, and I can’t pin the notes down) and also Nanadeberry Pink. Any one of these would be a neat adventure.
I’ll stalk the post/comments to see what I have that I can do wishes with as well. This is so fun!

I’m looking for a beautiful gardenia perfume that would fall into the Perfume Posse’s classification of “a pretty perfume that’s kinda gardenia” or “Gardenia Hall of Shame”! Specifically I’m interested in Jo Malone Vintage Gardenia, Kai, Monyette Paris, Arquiste Boutonnière No. 7, or one of the gardenias by Dawn Spencer Hurwitz.
I’m a little scared of the bleu cheese smelling ones (even though I haven’t smelled any of those). Maybe I’d try one? Maybe…I just can’t see myself ever appreciating the stinky bleu cheese!

Thank you, so much, Jan. Now I will have to read the “how to decant” article on this wonderful site. Have you thought about downloading a CD spine label template and printing on a sheet of vinyl. I got mine CD spine label template (for MS Word) at World Label. You’d have to cut them out, but they’d be water/perfume proof and would stick nicely.
I would like to try Vero Profumo Rubj. I usually do really well with skank/cumin, and it sounds fab! Any tiny amount will do, even if it’s a partially used teeny sample. I am in the US.

Joni, I buy the 2.5 ml spray bottles from Surrender to Chance. You can find them a little cheaper elsewhere, but supporting the people from the Posse is a very good thing. I get pipettes and funnels from them too.My only other have to have is Scotch Decorate and repair tape in colors, to keep my mailed bottles from leaking. A label printer would be nice, but not in my immediate future, lol

I got mine CD spine label template (for MS Word) at World Label. You’d have to cut them out, but they’d be water/perfume proof and would stick nicely.
Also, what I didn’t say below, is that I would be happy to send you a few sheets of 8 1/5 x 11 vinyl to print on, if you want to try it before investing anything in it. Just send me an email AgFang35 at aol dot com.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will go ahead and pick up the vinyl (i presume it has a peel off sticky side) and have just downloaded a template for the cd spine label.
Yes, Jan, it does have a peel-off sticky side. That ought to get you by till you can budget some perfume money for a label printer. 🙂
