Narciso Perfume 2014 by Narciso Rodriguez (New Release)

Narciso perfume released in September 2014, an update on the original For Her released in 2003.  Notes of gardenia, rose, musk, vetiver, and cedar.  Narciso said of his new creation “I wanted to create an extremely sexy fragrance that would turn a man’s head.”

Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez perfume

The original For Her in 2003, while not some amazing creation, did one thing really well, it made a woman smell sexy, and it turned men’s noses as they walked by.  Does the new Narciso go one better than that?  I’m not sure it does, but it feels a little more defined than For Her.  For Her was much more musk-centric fragrance, and Narciso spends much more time on the floral heart.  The musk from For Her floats around in it, so it keeps that very sensual feeling.

I think it will win the hearts of the same people who loved For Her, and I’m one of them, and for many of the same reasons. It’s this undefined fragrance that happens to smell great on, but in no way that you can explain more than it makes me feel very feminine.

For Her Musc was my favorite strength of the 2003 creation.  Narciso Musc showed up to keep the EDP company in 2014.  I also like it more. It’s quieter, more musky, keeps closer to the skin and seems to keep my frilly feminine heart closer to me.  The EDP has more projection, the musc is softer.

Narciso Rodriguez has been pretty smart with his perfume launches. Not a ton of flankers, just relies on a solid fragrance that is easy to wear, sexy, has a lot of universal appeal without being as overwhelming as Angel.  When he releases his second fragrance for women, he doesn’t deviate from success, just makes it a little different.  Enough different that it stands on its own as a fragrance, but still feels like part of the family.

If you’re a fan of For Her, you’ll want to hunt down Narciso for a sniff. If you loved For Her just for the musk, you may not love Narciso, it is definitely more floral.

So let’s do a draw!  For Her fan or no? If so, EDT or EDP or Musc? I still remember the arguments over which was better, and the EDT almost always won, which is a weird thing.

I haven’t tried any of them, but I’ve heard and read about them, and am very curious now. The bottle is pretty, I agree.

  • Gigi says:

I love the EDT for her, and am trying my hardest to not fall in love with the new one. I’ve been spritzing myself everytime I get close to a shop lately though and that is never a good sign!

  • Kandice says:

I have been wanting to try For Her for awhile now but haven’t had the chance. However, I’m glad I waited because the new version sounds even better since I love most florals. Thanks for the opportunity to try this!

  • Ncmyers says:

Ooh, would love to try the new one! I’ve only tried the edt, which is my best friend’s signature scent, so of course I love it. Thanks for the review and the draw!

  • I’ve had anosmia issues with the musk in For Her. I had a sample of the oil too, and beyond the orange blossom note at the top, I could hardly smell it. I should give this one a sniff when I come across it.

  • Laurels says:

Don’t enter me in the drawing, please, as I can get a sniff nearby. I prefer the edt with its orange blossom to the edp, but only for those top notes–I can’t smell the musk at all.

  • Dina C. says:

Yes, I was and am a fan of the original NR for Her edt. It’s a great date scent with that combination of orange blossom, rose and musk. I sampled the edp, but not the musc version. I ended up buying a bottle of the edt. I’ll have to sample this new one, too. Sounds good to me! Thanks for entering me in the drawing Patty.

  • kizzers says:

Please don’t enter me thanks 🙂 I’ve had the chance to sample this alongside Bottega Veneta Knot, and the new Narciso smells exactly like Bottega Veneta eau legere on me, which I already own. Such a pity, as the white bottle is stunning and lovely to hold. I have and love the Musc Intense for her, but the original always gave me a headache. I also had a chance to sniff NR Amber Musc (in a pretty gold bottle) in France recently, but it didn’t float my boat much.

  • maggiecat says:

I love NR For Her Musc Intense (I own a full bottle) and the original for her (numerous decants). Floral woody musks are my favorite, and I am very anxious to try the new NR!

  • Gwenyth says:

    Hello.
I’ve tried the Narciso Rodriguez for Her EDT, the EDP and the Musc collection EDP Intense. My favorites would be the Musc followed by the EDT.I own bottles of each of those. I absolutely adore the bottle for Musc collection – a gorgeous dark iridescent thing. Both the color and heft of the bottle are wonderful.
I love the aesthetics of all the perfumes – the image they conjure in my mind as I wear them. Beautiful. Seductive. Sophisticated.

I’d love to give the “Essence” a sniff – and I live in a place where that will be difficult because of a decided lack of shopping opportunity. Thanks for the offer of a draw.

  • Sapphire says:

Somewhat of a fan of For Her. I prefer the EDT, but made the mistake of telling my husband to get me the EDP for Christmas that year, assuming that it was just stronger and would last longer. Didn’t know it would be so different and so much rosier. I liked the Essence pretty well, too. Thanks for the draw.

  • I’ve never tried any of them – but would certainly love to give our a go! Please enter me into the draw! Thanks 🙂

  • Ann says:

Hi, Patty! I pretty much liked all the iterations of Narciso, but they tended to confuse me a bit after a while. I’m planning to test this new one when I run across it — assuming I’ll be able to find it in the jumble of bottles at the stores. DNEM, but thanks for the draw!

  • Erin Tigchelaar says:

I just bought the new one – the scent is intriguing, veeery milky/creamy and the bottle is adorable (and I’m usually immune to container). I love A. Guichard, so it’s not a surprise I like Narciso. It’s quite suntan oilish.I tried the oil and found it a bit nuttier, which I wasn’t sure I dug, in this case. The point of the EdP seemed to be that it was a skin scent blown up to room-filling radiance, so getting closer to the skin and muskier didn’t make sense to me. But I’m one of those people who couldn’t smell the original NR very much due to musk anosmias. (By the way, wasn’t Essence is the metal bottle the second feminine? Or was that unisex or some kind of flanker?)

  • Artist says:

I still have a 10 ml purse vial of the Narcico Rodrigues For Her…it is the only one I’ve ever smelled…I think it’s lovely. I’d love to try Narcisco! Please enter me. Thank you!

  • Maya says:

Never tried NR. I’m surprised everyone didn’t vote for the EDP. Thanks for the draw. You have made me very curious!

  • edpgypsy says:

I am a NR fan and have been wanting to try this new addition. My favorite is Musc Intense but I have always wanted to try the oil version of the original. Thanks for the draw.

  • flowergirlbee! says:

enter me!! i have been wanting to own NR For Her..i don’t think i got to try the musc and the hair oil sounds great!! i liked the EdP the best from what i got to smell.

  • FeralJasmine says:

Love florals and love musk, so this one should be right up my alley. Please enter me.

  • Janet in California says:

I would love to do a blind tasting (smelling) of the three. I have the EDT, which I like but not love, and the hair oil, that is wonderful. I do need to smell the Musc. The Extreme is another to add to the smell test.

  • jaime says:

I’m a big floral (woody) musk fan, so of course I’m really curious about how this new perfume measures up! I started off liking the pink NR, but after testing both, have become more enamored of the NR black bottle, because the florals weren’t as overpowering on my skin. This latest is definitely on my to-test list, though, even though the review mentions florals are more dominant.
