Greg Davies: Best School Teacher Story Ever!

Hey there Perfume Posse. Greg Davies is the star of UK TV series Man Down 2013-now. I haven’t seen it but now I’m going to get Jin to find it and we can watch it together. The story of a teacher who cannot pull his life together sounds hilarious.

Below, we find Greg Davies on the Graham Norton Show. He seems charming and very watchable as he hold court with three of the world’s best actors. I love that he unfolds this dreadful story without even a hint of embarrassment or self reproach. The panel includes Jodie Foster, Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling and the story includes Mother, Laundry, Booze, Curry, School, Hearing Impaired Kids.

I know it’s not fragrance related but it tickled me so much. It can’t help but brighten your day I hope. Sometimes a chuckle is all that’s needed to turn a shit day into something bearable. If you’re having a bit of a crapper day then my advice is to spritz something lovely and watch this video. Ultimate cure all.

What fragrance am I rocking while caught in my YouTube loop?

Parfumo gives these featured accords:
Top: Lily, Lily-of-the-valley, Orchid, Mock-orange, Peony, Rose
Heart: Pear, Blackberry, Eucalyptus, Lilac, Jasmine
Base: Musk, Sandalwood, Tonka bean

I have talked about Contradiction before. Suffice to say that I am happily ensconced in a cold, wet, metal rose bomb that smells way better than its price tag. Lately I have been using it as my at home spritz quite regularly. It’s so easy to wear and I like its minimal progression through the opening and heart. Dry down is amorphous sweet nothings.

I hope the video brings you a smile.
What are you spritzing while around the house at the moment?

  1. I really had a good laugh at the video Portia! Thank you!
Right now it’s morning, I’m in my home office (=living room) wearing some old Eau Sauvage. It feels great!

  2. It’s 2 am and I’ve just watched this as I’m getting ready for work. I’m having my coffee on the porch, and just laughed so loud I’ve awakened the neighbors. I’m pretty sure they hate me. I’ll be spritzing some Rose Gold I just received from Ormonde Jayne yesterday, and I’m sure it’ll make me feel much better about what a crap neighbor I am. I can’t stop cackling…

    • Hey LaDona,
Please say sorry to the neighbours from me.
Glad you got a laugh though. Enjoy your Ormond Jayne, pure luxurious elegance. MMM mmmm

  3. I’m just waking up and nervous as hell about a root canal I’m having in an hour and a half, so this laugh was more than welcome. Thanks for this!

I’m trying to think of a calming scent to wear this morning. Something comforting and close to the skin, but not too sweet, I reckon.

  4. I just spit coffee — this is too funny! I’m feeling kind of antisocial and snarly today, so I’m trying to decide between wearing something feral, like my sample of L’Artisan’s Peau de Bête, or counteract the snarl with something more cuddly, like the decant of Ciel de GUM that Ann sent me.

    • Heya HeidiC,
      Glad you got a laugh.
Both valid choices for your mood and i reckon both would work a treat. Which did you go with?

  5. omgosh! that was hysterical! The ‘Fecal Jackson Pollock’ made my sides heave! The barometric pressure was sooo lowwww yesterday – and every joint I own (and some I borrowed, I’m sure) are still achy. Yoga, a hot shower and some vintage My Sin extrait should help.

Thanks for a great laugh this achy morning, sweetie!!!

    • Hey Beautiful Musette,
Sorry to read about your achy self. I’m off to do yoga tomorrow too. Hope you feel better after it.
I have some My Sin extract lying around here somewhere, we can be scent twins tomorrow.

      • So THAT’S why my wonky knee has been acting up! I knew I hadn’t wrenched it or treated it badly. Good to know!

  6. Oh, dear Portia, what a hoot to read this a.m.! I found myself laughing (and cringing inside a bit as well) listening to this. And what a brave soul he was to go on Graham Norton and share it! A good reminder that no matter how bad things get, they could always be this bad. 🙂 Thanks!

    • YAY! Glad to give you a laugh Ann,
Yes, let’s hope we never end up in our mothers knickers. EWW

  7. I’m a huge fan of Norton’s show and Greg Davies is actually one of the better guests. This story was incredibly funny. Another great episode was when Norton had the 3 Monument’s Men as guests, who arrived drunk, and left even drunker.
