Hi there Posse. NEW NEW NEW! I wandered into Libertine the other day and there was a brand new Amouage Love Mimosa bottle in primrose yellow. It was so damn pretty and called to me hard. Without even thinking I added it to my shopping, unsniffed. Well, it is a new AMOUAGE! Of course I’m going to love it. Can I tell you though, this is NOT how I usually buy fragrance. Too many bottles of unloved blind buys had to be given away or moved on in my early days as a perfumista. This bottle, it called to me, to something deep inside that realised no matter what the juice smelled like I wanted to be the owner of that perfectly poised primrose packaging. My most expensive blind buy to date. I left the store and BUYERS REMORSE took over big time.

OK, there are two completely new-to-me notes here. Cascalone® is described as an aquatic, Paradisone® as a floral, both Firminech. This is Elise Bénat’s third Amouage, she also signed for Beach Hut Man and Blossom Love in 2017. Other than that she has done some other bits and bobs, a couple for Ritual, but no other houses I really know.
Mimosa is such a strange scent. The one used in fragrance comes from the Australian wattle that was shipped around the world. At once a furry and smooth, waxy and dry, sweet and vegetal. Here it is treated like walking through the winter scrubland just after dawn, or a rain shower. There is the 1000% amped up smell of wattle flowers, some dewy wetness, parched earth iris, a creamy resinousness and the crisp green snap of broken leaves. Love Mimosa is intoxicatingly dense yet manages to remain polite.
Jin walked into my office as I’m writing and pronounced in no uncertain terms, watermelon and flowers. Once he said it I can certainly smell the connection.
There is a vegetal musk through the heart and into the base that gives the mimosa a lived in humanity. It shears off Love Mimosa’s purity and makes the fragrance smell warmer, livelier and less austere, it could well be the ambroxan. There is still the dewy waxiness of mimosa laden shrubbery and the pollen laden honey bees buzzing around it.
Love Mimosa is totally unisex and wears beautifully.

Yep, you’re crazy in the coconut? I’ve tried Tuberose Love, Lilac Love and Blossom Love. They’re well done but longevity on me is less than stellar. So I won’t be needing a full bottle of any of them, thankfully.
Lucky wallet, bummer about the longevity Cassieflower. This mimosa love sticks to me like glue. Isn’t it amazing how differently we process scent?

I added Love Tuberose to my last sample order because the Love series is supposed to be lighter than the usual Amouage. I will have to sample it more but it’s leaning very positive. I also want to try Lilac Love. For wattle in perfume, I love Goldfield and Banks Velvet Splender.
PS In this sample order I included Etat Libre D’Orange Putain Palaces. (They did not have True Lust.) I like it – a lot.

Goldfield and Banks Velvet Splender is an infinitely more robust fragrance on me, Mimosa Love seems more ethereal, less intrusive. VS is gorgeous but in totally different ways.

I’ve been curious since I heard they were releasing a mimose scent, but the price has been prohibitive! How would you say it compares with Mimosa Pour Moi?

Along the same clean lines but with a bit more story and just a little more breathy intrigue. My memory of Mimosa Pour Moi was that it was a bit too clean and more prim. I rehomed mine so it’s not possible to do a side by side. It may also have been too early in my journey to love such prettiness.

I enjoy Lilac Love and purchased a FB. Blossom love was a decant which is sufficient, not my favorite. I’m not sure about Mimosa Love after your review. I haven’t sampled it yet and I don’t know what wattle is. I am a fan of classic clear perfume bottles vs the colourful or quirky ones, so my wallet is thankful I probably won’t need more Amouage Love at this point!

Look up wattle, it’s beautiful looking. Tiny puff balls of yellow waxy goodness that shine brightly against grey/green foliage at the end of winter. Wattle is the harbinger of spring here in the Australian busahlands.

I haven’t tried any of these Amouages – to be honest I have tried only a few from the house in general and decided that it’s just not my style – I appreciate the beauty but they aren’t wearable for my lifestyle! That yellow bottle is a beauty, though….

it’s interesting how some smells are so perfect in their natural state but give one HIVES in perfumery – you and I both LOVE watermelon, freshly cut or juiced….but in perfume? Yick! Chocolate in the kitchen (or in my mouth) is divine – but in perfumery it makes my stomach twist!

OMG! No chocolate in perfumery? Not even Anima Dulcis? What about some of the patchoulis that skew chocolate?
sadly, no, my love. I cannot abide chocolate in perfumery (ducks and runs). Which is hysterical because you will not find a more eager chocoholic than moi – especially a good, slightly bitter semisweet (not quite bittersweet – but close).

I didn’t care for Lilac or Blossom Love, but I ordered a sample of this one because it seemed appealing. I love the smell of wattle. Hopefully this one won’t have the intense sweet powderiness I got from the other two. The bottle sure is pretty.

I pretty much given up on Amouage since Beloved. I tried Lilac Love and didn’t like it. So many of Amouage offerings have been released so fast with Amouage, it’s not even funny. I want Amouage to go back to the vein of their earlier releases. Not something that I have smelled a million times before at lower price points.

OK, you have a point. That is a LOT of releases in two years at their price point. Impossible to colect nowadays, just too pricey for all of them.

well, they were moving towards a different demographic (away from the West and more towards Asia & Russia) – I wonder if they were throwing everything at those walls to see what stuck?
